Subspace Transmissions in sector travel

I'm sure I'm not the only one to encounter this and it is quite annoying. When traveling in Sector space, usually as a Romulan, I'm constantly having to listen to subspace transmissions in the background. This is not fun to listen to what sounds like people talking over a malfunctioning intercom system. Is there anyway to remove this background sound w/o having to resort to turning off the sound while traveling? I like listening to the music in STO but this is just annoying.
