Game Crashing in Space Combat

Hello all. I'm hoping for a little peer-to-peer support with my game client crashing out during space combat. This problem has always existed so long as I've played this game: I stopped playing four months ago out of frustration, and deleted all the files. Two days ago I reinstalled the game with a clean copy, and obviously this problem has returned.

The crashing to desktop is never accompanied by error messages. The game is up, and working, and suddenly it's not and the Cryptic Error launcher is giving me a popup notice. This only happens in space missions. I can sit on ESD for several hours, and I won't have this happen once. Same for DS9, the Fleet Starbase, or really any other social zone. Ground combat also has no problem.

To date I've tried just about every solution I come across, without success. This includes disabling antialiasing, turning off postprocessing, turning off bloom, reducing graphics settings, and even running the game in safe mode. I've run the settings up-and-down the spectrum without success.

Here are my system specs.

Windows 7 64-bit OS
AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5800 (15.11 driver)
6 GB RAM
DirectX 11

I'm hoping someone can help out, because I'm completely out of ideas with troubleshooting.

Is there a fix for this? Anyone have any ideas?

I also have the same problem. I too play with minimal graphics and the game still crashes. Sometimes even in ground missions. Any ideas how to fix this?
