Trendy what was the idea around the Lirpa because i swear there is a Team Fortress 2 fan among you who just reminded me of the infamous Lolichop and btw "do you believe in magic" *facedesks*
It’s that wonderful time of year again, when Q opens the doors to his magnificent Winter Wonderland to participate in his version of festive cheer. Per tradition, the residents of Q’s universe have built new and wonderful prizes for captains to earn by participating in their annual festivities.
Outstanding! We get A) a new ship with a very useful console, lots of new winter widgets and weaponry to play with, and C) our annual dose of Q-inspired insanity. All for the low cost of FREE. Thanks again, I look forward to this event every year!
Mirror, Mirror warns against a future where a Terran Empire ravages the galaxy led by the ISS Enterprise.
In the 2000s, the biggest space station we build is called the ISS.
I am concerned.
I am hoping for cold dmg space or ground weapons to help round out all the cold dmg kit abilities.
You and I, sir, seem to be thinking alike (or close enough to it) in this regard. It is indeed odd that some enterprising Starfleet, KDF, and/or Romulan Republic Q-types haven't reverse-engineered recovered examples of the CRM 200 or its helmet-mounted sibling... and we know that 'cryoplasma' actually exists (thanks to the warp core from the Absolute Zero set). The Nukara Strike Force seems a logical candidate for doing this sort of thing, given the precedent set by two of the ground sets' weapons and an available trait. And since we're here, I would be unsurprised if the Breen cryo weapons are literal cold guns, as made infamous by a certain DC rogue...
That aside, this does seem like another serving of light-hearted fun for all.
I have my fill of the winter coats. I rarely wear them now. But the scarves I made good use out of. I don't see much for the rewards to go after this year. It would be nice to see more scarves added to the list.

With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I have a question I don't see the answer to in the blog.
Are we going to be made to grind just to get access to the Winter Store (or certain of its rewards) this year, like how we had to do with "Tides of Ice" last year, or has that idea been scrapped this time around? I hope so!

i was hoiping for a t6 cruiser but the race is impossible for me to handle tried 5 times and slid off track 5 times with suggestions from others. i will dedicate my dil collection for a few months and get a tt6 ship that way, the contest both this one and the one on risa were nearly impossible for me, tried many times and couldnt do it. so i quit trying.

I FINALLY pulled it off after a LOT of frustration like you, but I think the only reason I ultimately did succeed was Counter-Command armor.

Quick tips:
Don't panic. Panic kills.
Jump or Roll. A lot. Jumps and especially rolls kills slide momentum.
You don't need to sprint the entire track.
Slightly more "Expert" tips:
1. The track is always laid out. Run it whenever you'd like for "practice" - as long as it's not the snowman event.
2. Many people say to treat the track as if it's a "Japanese racer game" and drift. If you're old school enough, remember the old trick on Pac-Man where you'd start your turn well before the actual opening hit? Well, that's a great adage for this race. Look the "new" direction a bit before you actually reach that turn. Best place to get your timings down (aka how early to start your turn) is the first set of (aka very forgiving) turns right after the start line.
3. Eventually / occasionally you'll get a race with no "opposition". Use that as your "well, let me walk the track and get the points" run.
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

Once we've completed the project for the ship, are we then able to get vouchers on all our toons to turn in for marks like we were able to do during the summer event?
I assume you are meaning that once you have completed the project (Breen ship) that you only have to do it once on your other toons (meaning run the ice race) for them to get the ship as well? I hope so, the ice race 25 times multiply by number of characters, going to hibernate if so.

This can be done by just going round at normal pace. Don't use sprint, don't try rolls or jumps. Turn into the corners early, use the markers on the side as reference, generally the last one before the apex marker. Use shooter mode to fine tune your turns. This works for me everytime without fail, without having to jump or roll. Too many people try to rush around the course, there's no point!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
@pwlaughingtrendy In the Holiday Gift Store, the box you can purchase for Lobi to get extra prize vouchers towards the ship sitll lists Q photos. I am not sure if this is just a text error but I don't want to buy it and take the chance that the text is actually correct.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think my younger brother bought the Rezreth, so it works.
Besides, you'd open one box to check, then start buying more.
Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.

I didn't want to waste the little Lobi I have unless they are actually for what is needed this year.
I didn't notice any scarfs this year. If the team needs some ideas for more wintery items for us to grind for. How about a snowsuit armor? I would also like to see the Cryo space items expanded upon, like with a Cryo Shield that adds icicles on your ships outer hull and maybe even a bit of a glossed over frozen look for the shield effect. A Cryo Engine that spits out snowflakes holiday colored deflector would make for a nice "Holiday themed Cryo set. I would also totally grind for a holiday themed bridge and interior. Using whatever system, add a bridge that is usable on all ships that has some holiday decoration to it. Lights above the stations, some icicles hanging off the Conn and Ops stations, a "Holiday" tree in the Ready Room, and so on. I am not asking for a completely new bridge, but perhaps take one of the existing bridges, clone it, and remodel it to fit the idea.
Edit: You could even go the extra mile with an interior that has a Holodeck room with a frozen pond so we can skate on it with the Frost boots all year round. Decorations in the Crew Quarters, Tribble earmuffs, a holiday feast on the table in the lounge, and maybe even another Holodeck room with snow where we can gather snowballs to throw at targets. The Cryo Deflector could even project some reindeer out in front of your ship, make it look like they are pulling it. Have a Snowton Torpedo Launcher and even a space PvP or PvE map where we can fight space winter enemies.

That one's actually pretty easily reproduced, though I have no idea why it'd act the way it does... *shrugs*
