I think a new levels will come eventually... raising ships up 1 tier and reselling them works, that's easy money for em. Probably 2017, hope it comes with the Cardassia half faction expansion...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard: "We think we've come so far. Torture of heretics, burning of witches, it's all ancient history. Then - before you can blink an eye - suddenly it threatens to start all over again."
"With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably."
Well, crafting, upgrading and admirality are all leveling.
It's the same text based paywall and or timegates trading you better stats. So it's already here...
I don't have a problem with more grinding as such, as long as the content is actual content - you know models, animations etc. that required work on their part.
Upgrading I feel was a total bluff, it was fake. They didn't add any new animations or models and esssentially had to give them money for gear you already bought and grinded for.
But of course aslong as the whales buy into it there isn't much to be done about it
Every one pick a number between 1-100. those who pick the number I chose, if it is not repeated by someone else, can haz my stuffs as I am not going through all of this again. I just got done buying T6 ships even after foolishly getting T5s of some of those same ships. The moment they reduce the ships I have now to obsolescence, I'm done.

Calm down. This is mere speculation at the moment (although it's quite likely to happen at some point, though not for several more years, if not longer).
Well, it took what - 4 years for the level increase to Fleet Admiral? Let's say things accelerate over time as the financial benefits of a level cap increase dry up faster, or the expectations for them rise - I'd say anywhere from 1 to 3 years from now.
What our ranks will be called then I have no idea. Maybe still Fleet Admiral/Dahar Master?

I'll say one thing, and yeah, I'm aware it's all unofficial at the moment, but I'm just a casual player, and most of my ships and equipment is still Mk XII [Purple]. I have no intention to upgrading to Mk XIV Gold. With the exception of the Andromeda (which was a giveaway) I don't own any T6 ships either. Should Cryptic ever make the move to T7 without a much better transition, I'll be gone.
I'd normally agree with this expect this is the part where they may be in the planning stages of it and won't happen until around 1-3 years like mustrumridcully0 said.
Oh yes, the money train is a talkin.
Retired. I'm now in search for that perfect space anomaly.
I swear, if they increase the level cap again and introduce T7 ships, I'm done with this game! It took me a LOONG time just to get the ZEN for the Delta Pack when it was first released, then unlock Starship Traits across all my characters, then get those characters to lvl 60 (which they made a complete joke to reach now with Admiralty), then setup whatever ship I wanted across those characters so they could STFs and stuff to complete Reputation and Events, THEN I had to upgrade my gear on my mains so they can keep up with everyone in DPS.
If T7 came out with how the game is now, not only would I have to go through this stupid process again, it would cost a lot more since Cryptic's logic is "Oh, the T6 ship you want is actually WEAKER than your T5 ship, but because it has a Starship Trait you might not even use anyways, were gonna charge you 500 ZEN more than your T5 ship."

The level 50-60 increase was a mistake. yet another would be a much bigger one.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
The level 50-60 increase was a mistake. yet another would be a much bigger one.
From a player perspective it was, but from a business perspective it wasn't. People complained like hell about it (rightly so if you ask me) but then think of all the people flying around in T6 ships with Mk XIV equipment.
It's obviously been a financial success for Cryptic.
The level 50-60 increase was a mistake. yet another would be a much bigger one.
Not sure I would call it a mistake, but will agree it wasn't the brightest of ideas. Most folks I know won't be buying their favorite ships a third time either if they introduce T7.
The question is not neccessarily whether people enjoy buying stuff - of course everything for free would be awesome (if there are no other drawbacks). The question is whether they enjoy having.
For me - I like that there are new ships to fly, and new ship costumes to use. But I certainly didn't need a level cap inrease for that - but maybe the level cap increase was necessary for people to be willing to pay the price they demand (and probably need to stay afloat). A skin for 3,000 Zen? Whoa, maybe not this time. A skin, a new console, a new trait, a new bridge officer layout, and stat boosts? Looks different. Even though in truth for Cryptic, the skin is what is the real work. (You can see that by how cheap a upgrade token is by comparision - mechanically, an upgraded ship has almost all the bells and whistles of a Tier 6 ship. But it doesn't get a new costume.)
Maybe the next level cap increase will also be with a price adjustment. Currently, every new released comes with a early adopter price reduction - not quite the 20 % of a sale, but enough. And there are often 3-packs that lower the price per ship (but only if you actually want all the ships). Maybe next time, they'll do the same, with a higher reduction?

TRIBBLE the level increase, and TRIBBLE T7 ships. Just give us the other half of the Romulan faction and give us a FULL Cardassian faction.
Birds of Prey and Mirror Invasion frigate NPCs with hulls of cruisers since DR/Mk14/L60 will become boss ships at Mk16. Cruisers would be planet-killers that spawn crystalline-entity-like dreadnoughts.
It's already ridiculous as it is, immersion-breaking.
Re-buying a ship for a 3rd time for a 5-console set bonus? Platinum rarity that costs more than a ship in gambling for some space weapons?
Even those that would stick around would find no one to play with, except perhaps role players who watch them DPS everything out of existence before they reached the first target.

Hummm, not even half of the T5 have been released to T6 yet and you think they will release T7 in next year or so?!
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Make that more 3 to 5 years.
They wont make money if they loose customers...
I am intentionally pessimistic here. But I think it won't take longer than it took for the last level cap (or ship tier) increase. 3 years is more what I am hoping for, but time will tell. And another 2 years already would be plenty of time IMO.

Level cap increase or tier increase and that'd be all she wrote for me.
Specializations were supposed to solve both the ship layout problem and the we-have-to-make-our-number-bigger crowd's problem.

As for Tier 7 and Level 70, what more can a FULL ADMIRAL become? We all going to get promoted to Q-status?
Do those Jaffa cakes come in chocolate mint?
You're right. Waaaaaaaay too damned early. I don't want to see anything like this until season 20

They'll probably revise the rank structure by then.

I beg to differ. If people purchased the T6 versions of their favourite T5 ships, then you can be damn sure they'll do the same again.
