I hate to just be an echo but I have to agree with the trend, the Annorax for my sci captain is simply a joy. She turns pretty well with a few turn rate consoles, deals great damage with two tetryon boosting sets (Nukara and Butterfly) and with nearly 30,000 shield power on each facing can happily absorb the Crystalline Entity's shockwave without a care. The pets are pretty good and responsive (unlike the Vonph's raiders) and she has so many science seats that I am constantly spitting out space magic. She is, in my opinion and for my playstyle and career, the best starship so far. Compared to the equally pricy Vonph's (if not more so), she outclasses it in many ways. Though I am not on a rant about the overpriced space monster that is the Vonph which I am probably going to dry dock.
With reciprocity + pedal, the Rom sci pilot is pretty much perfect and would be even better if kemo were commonly available, even has console slots for embassy connsoles for those that like that sort of thing. Its really a case of the traits matching the ship type and that particular one having nice seating and a trait that fits the build. Also doesn't need fleet ship upgrade, upgrading T6 Cstore ships for more zen per ship does not sit well with me.
Best Federation cruiser for an engineer captain is currently the T5-U tactical Odyssey. There simply is no other Federation cruiser that can even come close at this time.
1) Krenim Dread
2) Mobius Destroyer
3) Manticore Heavy Destroyer
Of the three ships listed above, the Krenim Dreadnought punches out the highest DPS thanks to Numeric Superiority + Time to Kill with Manheim Device quantum clones firing Chroniton Lance strikes + two heavy Krenim Raiders + very tanky with plenty of CC's.
The Mobius may not be as powerful and durable as the Annorax Dread, but its temporal inversion + Manheim clones do come in a close second.
The Manticore is the closest ship I run to a canon Fed vessel, but the transform modes, agility, and flexible BOFF set-up makes it quite enjoyable to use.
I'd have to say the Vesta line of ships. They have exactly what I want, enough sci to slot a wide variety of abilities, ample consoles in all 3 categories plus a hanger bay to boost things.
Only thing I miss is it not being T6 so missing one slot for a console and the aux weapons only being cannons when I'd rather have the option of beams.
Aside from that it's perfect formula style.
This but, im pretty sure my t5u has 11 consoles, 3 eng, 5 sci, and 3 tac, unless the t6 have 12 consoles, in which case...im blind.
aux cannons are fine, would be nice to have aux something else, but my power levels let me run aux at max and weapons at 90 so I don't mind tossing an Omni phaser and turret on back, with the new beam from sunrise to have the 3 piece bonus
im sitting on 72k hull and 34k shield for my vesta (course everything is gold on it too) running gw3 and subspace vortex with a rapid fire or 2, and a torp spread 3 with that new quantum, it does tasty things.
Perfect platform for survivable DPS. Can be setup to hit 100K+ DPS and yet survive 60/70% of incoming shots in pugs with no deaths.
Importantly (for me), it does so whilst being a Fed Ship (vs. being cross-faction) and shooting faction-correct orange phasers too!
Really fun ship for my tastes (not to mention that the c-store version comes with a top trait for energy weapon users).
Arbiter/Avenger parts also kitbash very nicely IMVHO. Avenger Saucer/Arbiter Hull/Fleet Pylons/Avenger Nacelles make for a good looking Fed Ship to my eyes.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

The vesta/aventine/rademaker ships are probably the best overall designs and the best overall ships. Not talking g about just DPS. I haven't tried the t6 yamato, but it looks like it could be good... As long as you know how to slide around properly during a battle. I flew a t5 Galaxy X for a long time, and if you're a dreadnought flyer and are using something other than beams in front... Look at the battle cruisers for that play style they're the best.

Although i don't fly it right now, my all time favorite is the Odyssey Operations Cruiser. My current main is either the Zahl or the Herald Quas Flight Deck Cruiser. T6 Ody would be nice though.
For me I love the Herald ships, Ive got all 3 and I swap between them regularly... when I'm in a Klingon mood I go to the pilot ships, the Sci and the Tac raptors are great ships, I love to shield scrape and then hit the retrorockets while rapid fire is active, the enemy hull just melts away
Must be nice. To bad the Herald ships were made lockbox.
Hmm hard to say what the best ship is. To me the best ship is the one that fits your play style best and makes you smile. I love Matha both versions and I also love Klingon Pilot raptors those wild barrels rolls make the pilot skill one look like a joke. Love charging in blasting away then hitting retro and doing it all over again lather rinse repeat... LOL. I love my Fed t6 hestia and my tac command cruisers, Wells Sci and the Nandhi in many ways a far better dps ship then the Scims as it can actually TURN!
So again the best ship is the one that makes you smile and have fun with.
"Best ship" is hard to judge. Most fun for me though (numbers do not mean order):
1) Scryer is the perfect space wizard. With Sci and Intel it is fun. Enough consoles and you can play around a lot
2) The Nandi. Even if it weren't free - 8 weapon slots, 5 Tac consoles, GW possible, pilot ltcom. And it flies around like an escort. Is it the best ship ever? Nope, but this player loves it.
3) Guardian - Cruising through space in style and very capable.
4) Mat'Ha. This is how a Tac ship is meant to be. Too bad you cannot activate all your power before the enemy is gone.
5) Aelahl. Another beauty looks wise, nimble for a cruiser, the console makes up for the lack of GW.
6) Dyson Destroyer. Performance is lower than with the other ships I mentioned, but it still is fun to fly and properly set up, both Tac and Sci modes are useful (against bosses/crowds respectively).
I also have the rule that I do not fly a ship on two of my characters - except for mastery - but it isn't a problem, because there are way more which can be fun to fly (Vesta, Sarr Theln, Samsar, Faeht, ...)
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
There is a huge focus on DPS in this game and within its community. That much is undeniable. I mean, there are completely separate chat channels that require posting your DPS to even get in, quite literally separating the people with decent DPS from those who don't have decent DPS.
That being said, in terms of DPS, pretty much all ships are "the best ship", I mean, I outfitted a mirror escort once with a reasonably priced set-up(by that I mean, it was a set-up that anyone could make very cheaply) and took it for a spin and pulled over 15k DPS with it. And for those who do not know, less than half the people that play this game put out 10k DPS, and only half of all the players who have posted their DPS have reached 15k DPS, so that is highly respectable.
So in all reality, all tier 5 and higher ships, at least and to my knowledge, are excellent ships.
Post: Knowing what I know now and having the equipment I have now, some several months after my initial Mirror escort run, I could post WAY higher numbers on that same mirror ship, probably closer to 25k to 30k DPS.
And for those who doubt that I did this in a mirror ship: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x1S3GolFng
Beware however, this video is long, over 1hour, I do more than just do a run, I actually walk through the set-up, I made it for people who either don't know anything and are just starting or for people who just plain think one ship or weapon is better than another.
Sooooo.. Watched some of your video and it made me chuckle. All that stuff upgraded... All the fleet stuff.. All that rep stuff.. So much Dil.. So much EC.. So much grinding to be able to put that together. But the kicker for me was you using reciprocity which requires buying a Zen ship (or spending 30m+ for non feds) lol. Even so, I still appreciate the effort you put into making the video.
To me the best ship is the one that fits your play style best and makes you smile.
Amen to that. The fleet Alita's got speed and all the escort tricks, the fleet Yamato's a freaking beast, and the fleet Arbiter's a flying easy mode button. But there's nothing quite like exploring the galaxy in the starship you watched in wide-eyed wonder when it first showed up on the silver screen. The Excelsior still looks as badass now as it did when I first saw it in The Search For Spock. Its just tanky enough for my needs without moving around like a complete whale.
(Not to mention the small sense of pride in breaking 20k in a free T5U ship Cryptic handed out as a promotion. And that wasn't even a good run. I'll eventually upgrade her to a fleet Resolute, but I'm still curious to see how far I can push the ol' AHCR.)
i have many ships , including Vonph ... but the ships i allways turn back to are: part-gens Scryer and Pathfinder (to bad scryer look like TRIBBLE) part.gens + beams Aventine (this is the ship i use most) kill everything in sight - Arbiter and Krenim warship cannons - Phantom and S'golth (i use a weird build on elachi escort , some combination between torpedos , cannons and GW ) broadside beams cruiser - Guardian Astika and Oddyssey drydock - Vonph (the ship that i realy regret buying) drain carrier - Sar-Theln Carrier - Narcine fun - Olaen

It's already Fleet level out of the box so I don't need to buy it twice.
It has Awesome Powers and Hanger Pets.
I used to fly a Pilot ship, also Fleet level out of the box. I used to blow up more than I do now.
Now I just sit back and sling the hurt, works especially nice against those cheating, spamming Iconians.
