Well I'm mad as hell because I ran the purchase twice and it said it went through. Hours later and still no email or charge on my bank account. All I want is the Leeta boff really.
Your donation then probably didn't go through. PayPal has twice not gotten mine, although I later got it paying via amazon.
The Leeta Boff is still available with any donation of 1$+.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
One would think based on past responses to anything free given away that involves Star Trek, there would have been a much larger sample of items.
This charity probably could have made well over $50k in a 24 hour period, if the person who arranged it had a clue about Trek Fans.
Not the first time this has happened and probably won't be the last.
<shrug>
Oh definitely. Limiting the ships was a pretty dumb move on their part. They could have made a fortune by keeping the promo going for 24 hours or something. But, it is what it is. Not much else to say about it.
I think part of the problem is that PWE/Cryptic probably only gave them that many items to begin with.
So some of the blame does rest with Cryptic as they most assuredly know that the demand would be quite high.
Who ever makes the marketing decisions at PWE really had no clue either, because They too can take the donation as a corporate write off.
And since what They gave away was something that has probably already made it's development costs back in spades, the cluelessness is phenomenal in retrospect.

I feel your pission, because if it happened during my work day I would have had the same problem and would be disappointed as well.
About the latter: of course they could issue an unlimited amount of these bundles in theory. But the limit probably has amongst other reasons the one that Cryptic will possibly lose money on future sales and thus had to decide how much money they wanted to forfeit. (Sure, some players wouldn't otherwise have bought these ships, so there is some additional money in it, but with MatHa and Aehlal both being quite good ships I am certain they still sell solidly. The mirror Guardian of course is not available in normal sales). Or Groupee or Masterson's organization have had to cover part of this, I don't know.
My mother was an epohh and my father smelled of tulaberries
I have seen several promotions over the years involving an in game code.. I have never seen one go well.
In a case like this, I just consider it a $10 donation, and if I actually get something for the game, then bonus. Most of the time these codes don't redeem properly even if you do get one.
You're actually asking for a refund of $10 from a charity organization? Seriously... I hope you're just kidding.
It was a donation in exchange for something. Why is that so unreasonable? If I said to you donate $100 to me and I'll give you something you want in exchange and then don't give you what I promised you would just walk away and say "meh"? I doubt it.
It was a donation for a limited supply item. You knew the risks going in. Sorry it didn't pan out for you.

"Note: the T6 bundle has run out as of 11/12/2015 10:40 PM UTC. If you have paid $10 or more before this cutoff, you will receive the T6. However, due to the way the limited tier system works, you may not see it if you ordered after the system says the tier ran out. Keys will be assigned for these orders after everything settles down."
So, everyone settle down, we're getting nothing til you do.
Seriously, though. I'm a little sad I don't have my codes yet, but even if they don't sort this out til next week, I've got plenty to keep me busy, I certainly don't need those ships, or the BOff for a while.
On the other hand, it has occurred to me it might be fun to buy some more ships just to give away the codes. Until I see what I've bought already though, it seems piling more transactions onto the mess would be a bad idea...

I come home, just now find out, and find out the tier I would have paid for is completely sold out, again YOU CANT RUN OUT OF DIGITAL CONTENT.
Actually, strictly speaking, YOU CAN run out of digital content. Here's how:
Groupee came to Cryptic and proposed a partnership for this donation drive. Cryptic said "okay sure!" Groupee in response requested a specific number of Tier 6 Ships of three specific types, and a specific number of Admiral Leeta Hologram Bridge Officers. Cryptic agreed to provide that specific and locked number of keys for those specific in-game items. Hence you can run out of digital content when there is a specific limit imposed on the digital items being offered ahead of time.
Sorry but that is the way of charity donation drives.
There is a moral component. When you say "if you donate to me and I will give you something" the moral thing is that both ends live up to that agreement. Otherwise, just say, donate and I may or may not give you something. Which was not said.
Actually it was said... in a manner of speaking. What they said was that the first 2,500 people who donated 10 dollars, and whose donations successfully came through before supplies ran out, would receive the Tier 6 Bundle that was on offer.
Unfortunately they did not guarantee that people who donated 10 dollars whose donations failed to come through before the supplies ran out would get anything. Far from it in fact, they specifically said that they donations had to successfully come through before the supplies ran out.
Additionally it wasn't necessarily their system that took so long, it could have been Paypal, the Credit Card Company you used, or any other number of things, that made it so that your payment did not register in time. You can't go and blame them for something they may not have had any control over. I know for a fact that it takes several minutes for purchases I make with Paypal to come through sometimes.
blah blah blah... did not pay close attention to the contract you were entering into... blah blah blah
Oh for f***'s sake. There was no contract... there wasn't even a promise per se. They specifically said they were only offering the Tier 6 bundle to the first 2,500 people whose payment of 10 dollars successfully processes. That was the limit of what was said.
When a limit is imposed on the quantity of items being offered in a charities donation at a certain donation level, you can't go and ask for a refund if your donation fails to process in time to qualify you for one of the items that were being offered. This is a longstanding rule with donations the world over.

glad that i cancelled, it was at 900's when i was trying to get code, and took me few minutes to get verify, and then soon later i was seeing low 400's, then decided to forget and drop, knowing i wont get any T6 ships, but didnt want those smaller ships, but others were happy to get NX ship when they missed recent give aways. it was good deal for those who missed for a buck.
it was poorly planned charity and long process to handle donations for a limited codes, didnt they realized there is over 500,000 STO players for only 2,500 ships available?
i agree with Nabreeki and Daveyny, if they allow 24 hrs

Silly person. I finally got my transaction in when it was down to around 100. But then it took awhile to actually process and they ran out before it did. But I still ended up getting the T6s after maybe an hour.
alas, I didnt get any notification about this until after they "ran out" of the nice pack, tossed them a dollar for the only 1 small ship I didnt already have.. Yet when I think back to the last charity event- no one ever got anything that was promised and PWE/Cryptic did not respond to the issue at all ever...
Because a donation is NOT a purchase. And they kept their word. The first 2'500 buyers who's payment came through received their T6 bundle. You were just too late. And then there's a moral component but I guess that's of minor importance...
Actually, I was on the groupee chat earlier asking about this. I placed my order when the counter said approx 1500 bundles left, and they did take their payment from my card. I still have no keys yet. Someone from groupee told me however, they are allowing everyone who placed their order prior to 10:40pm UST to get the bundle, they were waiting on additional keys from Cryptic. They also were not anticipating the HUGE response to this promotion so we basically broke their CC server, not really but it bogged down really bad. So they are anticipating up to a 24 hour delay for some of our orders to become complete.
If, after 24 hours you have still not gotten your keys, contact groupees support. If you are looking for your keys in an email, they will not arrive there, instead check https://groupees.com/purchases.

LOL isn't that what I said? 2,500 contracts, NOT received payments. Do you guys expect to claim all payments were processed and received by "11/12/2015 10:40 PM UTC"? Because if so, you're clearly as clueless about the electronic wiring of funds as you are about the legal ramifications of offering anything of monetary value for "donations". And before someone chimes in, yes virtual items have a monetary value. Someone hit the nail on the head as to why Cryptic only "donated" 2,500 bundles. In fact it'd be a pretty good bet that the value of that "donation" was specified as part of the compensation in Ms. Masterson's contract (ooh that pesky word again) with Cryptic. She founded the charity after all.
Blah, blah indeed. Look there's what you guys think and what the laws say. I'm going to side with the latter. Like it or not, if it hit the books as:
Purchase description For bundle 'Star Trek Online Bundle' in Groupees store

Then it's a contract that has to be honored. Btw, that's from well before 10:40 PM UTC....
Gift = donation. For something of value = contract. It really is that simple.
Heh, that's what that site does, go look. 30% of everything (that's $7,500 at the minimum for the T6 bundles alone).
Question: How many of you put your money where your mouth is and gave a gift with no expectation of personal gain? A show of hands please.
Thought so.... If you really did, good for you. The rest of you, hush.

I hope this is the case for me as well I donated $10 with around 1300 left on the T6 ship counter and I also got an email showing my $10 donation was processed and they did take their payment from my card, but I have not received a Key via email and it also show no bundles purchased under my groupee account. I have already sent in a support ticket so I guess I will see how it plays out.
I find whenever I want to spend money on this game either through steam or arc and now this promotion I never have a easy time. This donation is for a good cause but if anyone followed the rules set out they should get what was promoted.

I wonder how many people would have donated diddly squat to this and certainly so quickly if it had not been for the T6 ship bundle.
its very easy to take the moral high ground when your sitting pretty but to some people $10 is a lot of money to spend without getting the thing you was wanting in return.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
