Some heavy hitting DPS Wizards making Mirror Invasion Advanced look too easy.
For those of you complaining about MIA being too difficult; keep in mind that it is currently still bugged. It's supposed to spawn infinite rifts.
Some tips for Mirror Invasion:
- Keep one eye on your teammates, what they are doing and where they are.
- Keep another eye on the minimap, it'll show you where the rifts are even if you are outside the draw distance.
- Keep your priorities fluid and dynamic:
- close rifts unless someone is already closing the rift you are near,
- upgrade defense,
- clear NPCs from around the station,
- grab aggro so your buddy can close rifts,
- sneak in under your buddy if he has aggro,
- open up with DPS if you see someone being overwhelmed
- Don't say you are going to do one thing, and only do that one thing, you have to do everything.
- Bring your DEEPs
- Bring a Science Ship
- Communicate!
A good MIA run will net you over 200+ marks.

Since you're a wizard - cant you go *puff* ?
MIA is not any harder except that the enemies don't die as quickly so you can easily end up with a serious overcrowding problem.
But decent communication, or heck, even watching what other players are doing can lead to success.
I mean I've lost track of how many times i've seen a teammate in an escort trying to close a rift whilst being zerg rushed by a million Terran NPC's when if he'd just followed my sci boat we'd work well as a team.
Things I've found to be excellent in this mission:
You guys ought to stop stroking your epeens - too much and they'll fall off, you know

They apply more thought and effort in the game than passive aggressive snobs on the forums?
Had a very similar run to this last night from a 30k formed-team. We had several sci ships so we were able to close the portals quickly enough while we had fire support from the rest of the team. That kept the mob count low and manageable.

I think you're unfair, here, reyan. Read this again and ask yourself how many pugs actually follow the rules? And how much it would help if they did.
The only one on the list that's DPS crowd specific is "Bring your DEEPs".
But especially the bolded points seem critical part of the strategy of closing rifts even in face of of great ops.
The thread where people whine that damage cancels the interrupt just should remind everyone how little cooperation and how little creativity people actually have in dealing with the Mirror Event. Instead of trying to figure out strategies to deal with the fact that interacts are disrupted by damage, people want that gone - which would turn the whole event into reall ynothing more than a boring DPS fest and eliminates any need for fancy abilities or strategy.
If you ever wondered why the game is so DPS focused and lacks deeply strategic missions, there is your answer - people don't want to think about how to solve a challenge. They want at best to follow an easy script and space bar the rest away.
And these are (probably) not the same people as the DPS crowd - the charts-topping people are most likely doing what they are doing because they would be bored if they just take an average build and blow apart some enemies - but since the game doesn't offer much strategy and tactics anymore, the only thing left to master for them is the build.
Of course, I freely admit I am part of the problem. I am too lazy (or shy?) to communicate. I know stuff like how to use a science vessel, how to draw aggro or how to sneak in while someone else holds the aggro. But I don't try to take charge and direct team mates. Maybe because they probably won't listen anyway, but... i don't even try.
The temporary HP do not prevent interrupts. For me anyway. Maybe I've been singled out.
Yes, obviously a 50,000+ team will do well in MIA. Whodathunkit??
Hardly string theory here. You have to kill the advanced ships as fast as you would in normal to stay ahead of the swarm.
Sorry I should have said spoiler alert.
Yet another look at me aren't I grand thread.
oh and p.s. how do you 'grab agro' against faw?

Like I said in another thread, I'd rather sip some tea and relax while doing my 8 characters than worry about a few extra marks.
Each has their own way of enjoying the game. For me, I only have 2 active toons and a limited amount of time to play, so I would like to maximize my gains on whatever run I am doing. If I'm spending 15 mins on this mission, I'd rather get the most I can than settle for mediocrity.

So people in the Media Corp aren't allowed to talk in General Discussion about how to do a STF well and obtain higher rewards, let alone be successful at the STF?
Media Corp, pack it in! We have to leave now. No more sharing information with the general public or helping anyone out in this game. Back to e-peen strokin' and showing off crazy builds while not telling people how it's done and how they can do it themselves.

I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.
50K and 75K teams have been overwhelmed before because:
1) No teamwork in closing portals
2) No GWell to bunch up enemies if there is a surge
3) NO COMMUNICATION on who's going where, and who will get aggro and who won't.
As to how you 'grab aggro' against FaW? Fire at them and lead them away from your partner. 4 seconds max if your partner doesn't shoot at them. Works EVERY time.

EDIT: Other than just plain not having enough DPS to kill the dread, but I've never seen that happen.
mediocrity.. funny word to use in a game that has no competition whatsoever and is more or less a single player game with social zones.
When it happened I always write on chat what should we do. Sometimes it helps, so again, my gues is that plp doesn't understand this mission.
So, as there is very little "magic" in that video, only really basic level of awareness, there is some educational benefit from it.
However I think U guys from Wizards should do educational thread with multiple stfs. Get cheap build and t5-t5u ship and show plp how to do it. Not with super dps promotional monsters, just for average casual player. I'm not talking about 100% runs, but decent ones. I think everybody may benefit from this.
Anyway - keep up good work, your vids are always fun, thx.

We actually did on The SHOW, showcasing MBagel's Cheap Deepz line of builds and videos. I believe it was on the same episode that we featured SARoss of the Pilot Review Show.
Everything else we do is just for fun and mock glory. Heck, I have this build that makes people cringe, but it still pulls between 30-50K DPS and w/ some bad piloting.

After this you may have time for teamwork and whatnot. But if you fall behind at the very beginning you will look up soon and see 15 rifts and 50+ terran ships.
I should have said more clearly. I get interrupted with 100% shields, 100% hull and 100% temporary hull. I get interrupted using the intrepid trait, attack pattern expertise, the hull heal immunity trait, and the Delta recruiting immunity trait. The only thing that prevents interrupt for me is rock and roll. However, since I have to hit rock and roll first before close portal (or it cancels the close) there is not quite enough time before a fighters pea shooter or a 1 dmg to shield fire at will interrupts.
Yes, you can work clever spacing around the edges and I enjoy doing that sometimes. But for the most part it's easiest just to kill all the ships and close before the next wave comes. If all 5 players aren't doing this individually and successfully for the first several minutes of advanced you will be overwhelmed.

Have fun watch the vid and learn something from it instead of bitching arround EON out o7
