If it were any other franchise, I wouldn't even consider it, and I'll be firmly on the fence until I get a feel for whether it's worth it to me. I wouldn't have paid a subscription for VOY or ENT, but I might have for DS9/TNG/TOS.
Another concern is broadcast schedules. You'll get fewer episodes during certain holiday-heavy months, and no episodes at all between seasons. They're out of their minds if they think I'll pay for even one week without new content.
*edit* And what about commercials? Am I expected to pay for the privilege of watching the same repetitive handful of streaming ads I get from Hulu? Forget about it.
It's going to depend on which streaming model they go with. Netflix tends to throw everything online at once you you can binge watch a season. I know that Yahoo put up the episodes of Community every Tuesday.

Heres how Im going to play it. If its like Netflix, whole season will come out instantly. You pay for 1 monththen unsub. They try releasing it weekly, I'll just wait till the season is over, pay 1 month, binge watch it all, and unsub. Either way, $6 for a season. Nice try CBS. Should have let Netflix make the show and pay CBS royalties. The show is going to have to be TNG Season 7 quality in its 1st season if they expect it to carry a whole sub service. As I read yesterday, and I agree, giving it to Kurtzman places a ton of doubt in people. Id feel much better if the reigns were handed to Jonathan Frakes. I liked Insurrection, it was Star Trek. Not every movie had to be JJ blow em up types.

So true...
And that's probably going to be my answer to this question.
I already pay for my internet connection ($69/month), my basic cable connection ($16/month), Netflix ($8/month) and all the assorted taxes/fees that can be piled on (approximately another $10/month).
I'm sorry CBS but you can take your $5.99 fee and stick it where the sun don't shine!
There's no way in Hell, even though I'm a Trek Nut, that I am going to pay MORE (on a monthly basis) to watch something on my TV at home.
I can only hope that all the rich Trek whales out there Do decide to pay through the nose for this and it gets at least a few seasons under it's belt.

Depending on where you live in the world, outside the US, you may not have to pay.

Okay, that sounds like confirmation of the idea that what the pay service gets you is premium, early access and that this is not necessarily a complete paywall.
Now, as I've said in another thread, if they do any sort of deal with Amazon Prime for the series, I might be willing to pay a small one-time fee for access for each season, to Amazon. I already have a Prime subscription for the shipping benefits and to be able to watch episodes of the other five series any time I want, and I would be okay with a small discounted fee to show my interest in Trek alone (and possibly see it commercial-free because of Amazon's support).

This, I'm afraid, is gonna be the answer for over 190 countries on this planet, with the majority of one very specific country also going for said answer.
Which means its a no-go for me. Torrenting is receiving more pressure in Europe every month, and I really have a gut feeling that in a matter of months, the Dutch, just like our German neighbours, will see bills of thousands of Euros for downloading or streaming, lying on the kitchen table.
Which is why I stopped streaming altogether.
A shame, I was really enjoying Arrow and the Flash...
No; but then, I'm in the UK anyway. I'll just have to see which channel gets it over here if it appears on TV. Most of the more likely candidates here are free (my money is on E4).
Nope. As much as I love Star Trek, I won't pay a monthly fee just to watch it. I have no interest in other CBS shows so getting a sub to their service doesn't interest me.
I'll admit I'm concerned about this though. If enough Trek fans don't sub to the service to watch it, CBS might read that as people not wanting to watch Star Trek as opposed to people not wanting to sub to their service. I obviously have no evidence that it will fail or that things will play out that way, but I still feel uneasy about it happening.
Viewing numbers are going to be hard to calculate these days. Everything is digital and fandom usually are spread thin across a lot of platforms.
It's this very reason many (good) shows get canceled prematurely. They really need a new system to calculate whether or not a show is popular. Heck, if they would include pirated numbers, they'll get a more accurate representation.. or it has to be some kind of sensational thing like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad type deal.
Let's just hope it becomes "To big to fail.", otherwise the new series will be walking a tight rope.
Also, I'd love it that they'd break barriers between broadcasting services - because I'd love to see it in all it's glory on Netflix. I seriously hate it when I can't watch Game of Thrones on it.. that I basically pay for one channel instead of an entire package.
I think there needs an umbrella broadcasting service in place - a collaboration to see the actual numbers and such.
CBS all access isn't bad, but generally you can watch the episodes free a week later. That is how it works with the several other CBS shows I watch. I'm sure you'll be able to buy the season on Amazon or Google Play too.
I'll find a way to watch it and am willing to pay if it is worth it. I don't have cable TV, but mostly watch my shows on the web or via aps on my tablet while I take my hour break at work.
I have no problem supporting content I want, especially if it is progressive severing of Media from the Cable Box.
I have Netflix, Crunchyroll, use Google Play, Amazon Prime, HBO GO, and am a STO Gold Member.

As I don't live in the US it isn't a question of whether I want to or not, but that I can't.
Same.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Network nowadays take into account digital views which is why most shows...the most recent being "Supergirl" which had big numbers on it's premiere and then a few days later this number was increased by the number of people DVR'ing and watching online. It's hard to include pirating numbers because...it's hard to keep track of pirating.
I think what Netflix and CBS is doing will be the future of "TV". The networks are not happy with cable providers and Direct Tv and Dish...which is why every few months some network is beefing with them and going dark on that provider. It won't happen soon but it will happen. When one of the networks with a must see show...say AMC...decides to walk away from it all and provide only streaming access....then you'll see everyone else do the same. HBO already has the pieces in place with HBO Go.

I hope so...that's what I am most likely going to do if the option presents itself.
I refuse to pay the cable company for a DVR but I'm also awful at catching shows when they're on TV. I don't watch THAT much TV--when I actually do, it's typically either news or sports, so live stuff only (I'm probably about to try to negotiate my cable bill down for that reason). Paying Amazon for the ONE show so I can catch it as soon as I get the opportunity/remember to look for a new episode would be acceptable for me. I've already chosen to do business with Amazon, without being forced into it like I think CBS hopes to do with All Access, so I don't mind throwing Amazon another bone.

That sounds much, much more reasonable than "only streaming & only US; rest of the world: *long nose* nananananaa". Also sounds economically more sane.
I thought this 6 $ is for the whole channel. Some commends sound like they take the money only for one show?
Not technically, but that's the effect if you're subbing for only the one show when you wouldn't have otherwise, hence why if I must pay I would prefer to pay Amazon for the one show. That will tell CBS what I want, and that I do NOT care about anything else.

If I pay, it will be at the end of a season and just binge watch the whole season for 6 bucks. Otherwise, like others, I have "other ways" to get content.
