So do I have to buy all the ship if I want to build up my list? I remember they said there's going to be some sort of ship reward just for the admiratly systen, What happened to that?

OP, if I remember right the ship reward you are talking about is for completing the 10 level tour of duty. I think they are calling it a campaign reward.

do you get one ship as a reward or can you keep getting them?
so does this mean we'll actually have to buy these expensive ships if we want to just bolster our mission ships?
I read about the card ship thing every now and again but no one seems to have mention anything solid. This is most confusing.
Yea it is confusing. The easiest way is to buy the ships, for every ship in your characters, active roster you get one card for the class, and you keep the card even if you dismiss the ship. I spent a portion of last night reclaiming/dismissing my c store ships just to get the card.
You can get consumable ship cards from certain admiralty assignments. Other than that, yes you have to buy ships to get more.
That or wait for events & giveaways. The free T5s were a sweet move on cryptic's side and soon the winter event will start again which will also bring a new grindable T6 account wide ship.
Though I guess the older ships are being retired like in this year's summer event. Tough luck for people who weren't around last year.

I hope not. Everything they did with the ships for the summer event only reduced playtime. No more working for multiple ships for new players, no more working for ships on alts, no more stockpiling pearls for next year, etc. Just do it once with one toon, claim the ship with your alts and forget about Risa until next year.
I guess it's time to start buying ship slots. If I had known, I would've kept a few of these mirror ships while they werwe cheap.
You don't need more than 1 free slot. Once you requisition a ship it gets registered in the system and you can discard the ship itself but keep the ship-doff-card-thingy.
although a lot of players were disappointed that admiralty assignments were going to be very similar to doffing with ships personally I think its pretty neat, it is much simpler to use then I first imagined, makes use of all of your ships not just the high tier ones, does not take very long to set up the missions once you get the hang of it and doesn't require any weapons to be added to ships or for the ships to even be in your line up once you have the card for them.
also the rewards are quite substantial compared to doff assignments.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

I like it was well, the only part about it I find hard to get used to somehow are 20 hour repair times for successful missions that took 30 minutes or so.

First reason is that once you have an Admiralty card, you keep it, even if you throw away the ship you got it from. They're basically just DOFFs by another name.
Second reason is that there's a ship storage feature coming up, allowing you to mothball ships you're not currently using, but retrieve them whenever you like.

so far I have not found that a problem, I just slotted the ships that were suggested for each mission by the program and found that most times there was a fairly high if not 100% chance of success and a good chance of crit even if other ships from previous missions that might or might not have been suggested were on cool down.
if the chances of success were too low even with suggested ships I would pick an alternative mission and see how that looked for success.

yeah but if you bought three ship all worth 150m EC each for doffing purposes, and you only have one slot left, you certainly wouldn't be throwing it away after opening one.

A free T5 the last reward we all got
EDIT: just to clarify: the reward is a DuSh (Duty ship... I call them that)... Not an actual ship

Ah, ok.. I was wondering why I had the card for the T6 Federation Dreadnought even though I don't own it.
I didn't realize you could get ship cards from missions.

As for your first question I don't know.

As for the boxed ships, those can mostly be drydocked when that system goes live... No need to go out and buy a ton of slots.
TBH you seem a little over pessimistic

oh I get all that about it being saved......lobi ships

Hence why I said it's consumed on use...
Still pretty neat that you get a booster that you can use for those high-end missions.
