Reclaiming Ships

Is there any indication that we will be able to reclaim fleet ships at some point?

Every fleet ship a player has currently is a ship slot permanently lost. With the new Admiralty system on the horizon players may want to stock up on fleet ships. But since those ships cannot currently be reclaimed you're stuck with them once you buy them.

Yea... It would be nice, but that would cost them money.. So it won't happen.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I wonder if the introduction of the admiralty system will come with come with free ship slots.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I don't agree that 'buy more slots' is a real option. Yeah, it's cheap, but that's not the point.

They want you to buy slots so that you can buy more ships.. the whole logic of the thing seems off to me. Pay for the ability to spend money.. I just have never liked the 'ship slots' system. I would prefer to see them just do away with ship slots all together. To me, it acts as a deterrent to purchasing ships. I can't speak for others, but if I am out of slots, I am far more likely to just not buy anymore ships then I am to buy a ship slot.

As it is now, I have restricted my purchases only to ships that come at Fleet Level direct from the C-Store for this very reason. I can dismiss/reclaim my Command or Pilot ships without having to worry about it. I understand that ship slots are cheap, I could cash in a small sum of Dilithium and get several more.. I just don't like the system and never have. If they could find a way to make my Fleet Ships re-claimable that would also work, but I agree with the posters that don't feel Cryptic has any interest in 'fixing' this.

Ship slots are not all that expensive, and the amount of items they can hold is sometimes worth the purchase in itself. What is it, 250 zen?

Just looked, it was 500 zen, but yeah, even at that, it is worth it just for the storage.

It will of course depend on the exact way the admirality system plays out in the mid to long run, but as of now I don't see an incentive to buy ship slots and ships for it. And I would consider that a good thing, because it means you don't have to pay to stay competitive. If on the other hand you intend to catch 'em all, knock yourself out (and I know that this will happen) but with the amount of ships existing I wouldn't even begin to try that.

As for the slots: I can see why that costs money, because not every ship you get is bought with real world monies, still I think it could be cheaper. And I do not understand why Cryptic put a limit on how much I am allowed to spend (max number of ship slots, also max number of boff slots and doff slots). For the record: the only one I reached so far is doffs, and that mostly because I am too lazy to regularily go to the exchange and clear that stuff out because finding the doffs you want to sell is clunky.

    There are three solutions:
    1. Don't buy fleet ships for Admiralty.
    2. Discard the ships after getting the cards.
    3. Buy enough slots to keep the ships.

Or some combination thereof, such as buy slots for ones you actually want to fly and discard the rest.
