Investigate Officer Reports

tasshenatasshena Member Posts: 529 Arc User
This mission is not working, it hasn't for a while seemingly. Any idea when/if it might ever get fixed? Or is fixing it 'not in Cryptic's best interest' since it's a decent source of dil? :p

Are you sure you're running missions that will qualify for rewards? If they don't you won't progress this mission.

I no longer do any Bug Hunting work for Cryptic. I may resume if a serious attempt to fix the game is made.

Does it happen on a particular character or on a particular foundry mission?
I have played foundry on my Fed Rom Sci, KDF Rom Tac and Fed Eng with both foundry and OR rewards being rewarded.

Had one "Loot-o-matic" mission without dilithium or OR reward on my KDF Tac, but it was stated in the description that it didn't qualify for rewards.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

The real question we need to ask to help anser the OP is 'what part of it isn't working?' If it is the dilithium part of it, it may well be the type of mission the OP selected. However sometimes the system is bugged. I recall that happening as well. As far as it goes, Dilithium rewards are tied to a specific catagory of Officer report missions. Also as the OP mentioned, Cryptic likes to make getting dilithium hurt, as in 'not be fun at all' most of the time. Borg daily missions being the exception imho.

The already mentioned 'loot-o-matic' types of missions reward you with lots of violence that produces lots of drops you can sell off or use, but no dilithium. Sometimes a mission meant to provide dilithium doesn't take long enough to complete (16+ minutes I think) and since dilithium payouts have usually been linked to making you waste tons of time doing repetitive stuff, or travelling, the faster the mission is concluded the less likely you are to get a dith payout. Memorizing the Academy question Answers is a faster payout for your time actually spent, but it is only 480 once every 20 hours per eligible toon, so you won't get rich :)

The mining missions are not to bad, and I recommend selecting them even if you don't have time to do it right away. if it takes till the next day to get around to it, you can reselect while you are already there and do it right away again after completeing the first run, since the cooldown from taking the first misson has expired.

Officer reports are more fun than either, even the loot-o-matics, but if dith is your main goal, those other ideas may help you. Also make sure you have the right people and do these Doff missions; Confiscate contraband, Relocate Colonists, and any 50+ dilithium payouts listed in your departmental Dof mission choices! Then select any Doff missions that run an hour or less since it is speed of dith acquisition you are mostly concerned with. Rinse and repeat, while doing your other gaming. Make sure to recruit more Doffs at your respective academies, you WILL lose some doing this. Anyway, even 5 dilithium, recieved often enough, starts to add up. Again, not that much fun. The Doff system is like work, an Officer report is like a game. Big difference.

I think that they could make a lot of things more like a game than a job. If exploration missions had you take Doffs to different stars, and beam them down as away teams, or send them off in a shuttle that may need an escort, or a rescue and bring them back from missions while fighting off the local enemies but with a reward of increasing the Doffs success rate, that would seem more like a game to me. As it sits, it's just putting round pegs into round holes and geting a reward trickle. The right choices will still get you as much dith as an Officer report in about the same loss of time, maybe less.

Maybe not what the OP was looking for, but I hope that helps.

I was playing one of the foundry featured missions that comes up when you open the damned foundry window. :p And I've tried on multiple alts.

I finish the mission, comment, and it sits there saying 0/1 reports investigated.

A mission in particular or the featured missions in general?

In general, I've tried multiple different spotlight missions to finish it on different alts. Not sure what's going on with it.

I'll see about testing it again on a couple alts later.

Oh, and yes, I do know that some of those EC farming ones don't, I've specifically checked to make sure it was listed as eligible for foundry rewards. I'm not quite that dumb. ^_^

It's 'supposed' to be that you do a foundry mission and get dil for investigating the report. But it never marks as finished, even with 'feature' foundry missions anymore.

Be nice if my KDF characters could even get the 'investigate officer reports' mission in the first place.
