Actually I wasn't asking for the removal of the items, just not on the drop table anymore.
For some background in another game I play food Items work as buffs and buff everything from damage to credit drops to XP but are not dropped from enemies, you have to buy them with credits. That game also has a "tribble" type pet that has to be fed in order to work. In that game the only things on the drop tables are weapons, armor, their version of kit modules, and credits.
Besides my alternative is Doff trade/supply mission now not only would get food items but also some XP, SP, CP and dil.
I will reiterate what has been said before. Some of those food items can only be received through drop as no vendor or replicator sells them. If you remove them from the drop list you are effectively removing them from the game.
Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end of it.

All these worthless drops do is clutter up my bank inventory, either through their sheer number, OR, by the resulting tribbles they breed if I happen to have a tribble in my inventory.
I say instead of getting rid of them, make better use of them, maybe add them to crafting recipes for hypos or ground buffs or something.
Also, remember that drink/cocktail, (I forget which one), that made female characters dance when consumed? I thought that was kinda a cool touch there, maybe some other character effects upon consumption of these items would be interesting, perhaps an temporary emote or something.
If a food item is specifically only available from a drop, then leave it as such, or move it to some remote station(s) for purchase. I've always found it odd to kill some alien baddies, and discover that we've picked up their sack lunch in the process!?! And although it's supposed to be a damage buff, food is rarely ever seen in any Trek series or films...

Some of those foods can be used in DOFFs missions (Cook) you have to go to the ship bridge and call the DOFF from there to get access to the cook and the bartender

I completely agree, food drops are junk of the highest order. The only stuff that should drop would be Jem'Hadar dropping Ketracel White or something. Cardassians shouldn't be dropping Kanar or Zabu Stew (it's not like they're on lunch break when we fight them, they're usually patrolling) and Borg really shouldn't be dropping booze.
Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it! No, seriously! ...Why are you laughing so hard?
Kanar from a drone? Bloodwine from a Cardassian? Chateau Picard from a Herald? If everyone is getting drunk on booze, no wonder the biggest big time players are dropping cubes in seconds on ISA.
All joking aside, all this is junk, junk junk cluttering up inventories and it all needs to be taken out like the trash of the galaxy that they are.
Keep the food drops. When you're looting, you get to see what something is before deciding to actually take it. If you can't be bothered with that, then don't loot.
And if you can't differentiate between RP and Game Mechanics, that's not my problem and I have no desire to have my game adversely affected because someone doesn't get that there are multiple factors in the game (not only immersion) or has a weak imagination. (And before someone tries a typical "If you don't RP, you don't get it," I do RP, and I think you need to improve your imagination if a Borg drone dropping a catfish sandwich bugs you so much.)
I can't look in game right now to verify--but is that wiki list actually accurate and up to date?

You got a headache? Let me get you a Romulan Ale hypo for that.
Collect the food and put it in your bank with your tribbles. Then when it fills up with common quality tribbles you can select Annual Tribble Sweepstakes! winners from chat and mail them their winnings. You can mail them something like this along with their winning tribbles:
"Lucky contestant, you have just been picked as a winner of the Annual Tribble Sweepstakes! Remember the odds of winning the Annual Tribble Sweepstakes! is 1 in 187,000,000. In order to win you have to be so incredibly lucky that you will have depleted all of your good luck for the entire year. From this time forward for the rest of the year, it is advised that you do not engage in risky endeavors such as: temporal manipulation, rappelling down cliffs, waging war against the Dominion, or boarding a starship. Please hold on to your winning tribbles as they will no doubt bring you additional good luck for when you need it most.
Attached are your winning tribbles. You lucky contestant you!"

Fine with me.

But I don't see it happening without a season being largely devoted to it.

Not a single Romulan food or drink there.

Food items are a big help for lower level characters in need of healing items, but don't have access to an account bank and low on EC.
And some food items are only available through drops.
I say leave the current in-game set up the hell alone.

I love doing this.
