Is it time to remove food items from drops?

Is it time to remove the food items from the drop tables and replace them with EC drops? I get most thing like healing and weapon power ups but food item? If you use these items they would still be available from chefs/bartenders/replicators, just not dropped from enemies.

I just vendor trash these things and most of the time when they drop they make no sense. I mean a Haggis from a Borg Drone? Romulan Olso from an Icoina? Catfish sandwich from a Voth?

I also realized half the time the weapon drop don't make sense either but I don't think pure EC drops are the answer either.

Woulda made a poll but don't know how.

And why exactly wouldnt an Undine like to carry around its pet Tribble, or a Banana split? Seriously trivial drops like this are only ever intended for us to have a wasted drop from the loot table.

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

    People still pick up loot?

Agreed. Those food drops are an even bigger waste of time and space than a singularity.

They are-unless you are KDF or Rom with KDF alliance. Then they are readtion mass to feed tribbles for your Cannibal Tribble.

What? You mean you don't like seeing Banana Splits and Croissants being dropped by Borg drones?!?!?

Some of the rare ones are needed for anyone who wants to do the chef or bartender doff chains, but I suppose Cryptic could add them to vendors.

Forgot about that, and I actually do that on my KDFs. But they could add Doff missions that gets you food items. Like the Authorized shuttle to suppl Gak (or whatever the title is) mission. That would actually make me do those missions

Don't mind it much from a newly assimilated drone. I figure it's a "If I'm going out I'm going to have one last...".

Yes! Those food drops got to go.

Only way the food drops can stay is if they sell for 100k-1M EC each
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Rare foods like the Cardassian Taspar Egg or Tranya might still be ok. But a Catfish Sandwich drop is a let down. I make sure that my BOFFs are well supplied because they may end up on an away mission. I often switch up the landing party before beaming out. So if something drops that's the food item of choice for any given BOFF, I will resupply them from those drops. But that stuff is so inexpensive, it's kind of a waste of a drop. At least if a common ship or ground item dropped, that could be sold even to a vendor for a decent amount of EC.

Yeah really. Some food items still sell for nice prices on exchange. why? because random drops are the only place to find them.

As for "junk drops".... why not get rid of small power cells too? :p

I once caught the borg trying to assimilate hot chocolate. They'll never live that down, "Embarrassment is Irrelevant" my TRIBBLE. :p

They have a purpose, they take up valuable inventory spaces. WAI, if only good stuff dropped there'd be less grind and that's a bad thing for cryptic.

    Why would they do that?
Seriously, what is wrong with this playerbase, always wanting to have less of anything/everything in the game?

ohh please yes...maybe get rid of loot drop completely and just add a certain EC amount to the kill XP. What I really hate though are not the items themselves, but the glowing loot containers.
And the fact that nothing actually useful can drop anyway just makes the elimination of loot drops even more sensible.

    "Why would they do that?"

because random loot drops has zero relevance in STO. You can't even resell anything that droped on the exchange.
Mission rewards and other rewards provide items anyway...and past level 10, you are probably never gonna actually equip something that was a random drop.
It is mostly worthless food or consumeables anyway. In space it is not much different either.

Some of us actually do still turn in everything for EC that we can get our hands on. And my fear is that like a lot of things, Cryptic would take the opportunity to nerf the payout compared to what we get on the random draw. Especially for players who do not spend money on the game, this would be cutting off a fairly significant source of income and I for one would NOT appreciate it. Better to leave it alone and hope for this area NOT to receive any further "attention."

as I mentioned, killing NPC would require to "drop" EC and mission rewards would also need to include EC besides the items and XP.
ofcourse it would be bad if those rewards were significantly less than what you get now, but if loot was gone, the glowing containers would be gone and the loot role window too.
Did I mention that I hate the glowing loot containers?

We all know that the Borg drink unhealthy amounts of Chatueu Picard, so naturally a bottle or 2 drops when you kill them.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

I understand what you're trying to do. I just don't trust it to be done without being accompanied with a nerf. :( Better to leave it alone and lie low.
