Bugged/Broken Costumes Slots since 2013

edited October 2015 in PC Gameplay Bug Reports
I just realized how long these slots have been bugged. I've reported it a bunch of times before, and read how others with the same problem had thiers fixed. But I am still sitting with 6 broken costume slots that I can't switch to, I cant save when editing, or even rename in any way or form.

Now sure, I got 15 other costume slots that I can use(and I am), but I am really tired and I miss access to those last 6 slots. I want them back. I want what I payed for. XD

Character Name: Wulff@ClaudiusDK
Faction: KDF
Race: Alien
Gender: Female

Names of affected costume slots:
Honor Guard With Helmet
Gladiator
Time Armor
Time
Coat
Long Robe

Newest ingame ticket about the problem, ticket ID #3,767,293.

edit: fixed typo

Would really love some actual feedback on this at some point.
I can go back and see others that reported the same problem back then, and some saying they got help.
Even reported in a topic one time that a Dev was posting in and asking people to list affected characters and what factions/race they belong to, and nothing happend to me.
I think I even recall patch notes talking about costume slots not working as a known issue around the time, that suddenly went away.

I don't care if the 6 costume slots gets defaulted somehow, or they deleted entirely and then new ones get added instead. I just want 6 working slots, instead of 6 slots sitting there I can' do anything with.

Old patch notes from December 5, 2013 to February 27, 2014, had under known Issues: "Some KDF captains are not able to switch to all costume slots."
Then the patch notes for March 6, 2014 said "Resolved an issue which was causing some KDF captains to not be able to switch to all costumes slots." but it wasn't, as there was still players on the forum, including me, that had the problem

speaking of those, i found a way to access the broken uniform slots, or similar ones at least.

first, make sure all your costume slots are created so you have no blank ones. then make sure you have at least one boff space empty. buy a cheap boff from somewhere like all those on exchange that go for 1 ec, go to space map and claim him. then while still having the claimed boff window open, click change uniform, and switch to your captain tab. you'll notice you have several additional free "additional outfits" slots.

if you try to modify existing uniform or create a new one, it will create a hidden/broken uniform slot that will break one of the existing ones you have. can those be fixed so they're auto deleted when created or if exist if this bug to access those is fixed? before i noticed that i got two of those on one of my characters, and i think 3 or 4 on another, and i can't use those effectively anymore.

Are you suggesting something to try and fix them with, or are you reporting a bug?
First part sounds like you are suggest a fix to me, and last part sounds like it breaks the slots.
So gonna guess you are reporting a way that breaks slots. And not try that.

    Anyways, still waiting.

yeah, reporting something that may be related to help the devs access and fix it, and fixing it may help with your problem as well, since it may be related.

those broken uniforms can't be selected either, in your case they may have replaced the default ones sometime in the past before they did those fixes you mentioned.

most ideal way to fix it would be to simply give people an ability to delete costume slot, so they can recreate it later without the bugged properties, or just to get rid of the bugged costumes.

Not entirely sure if they are related arrmateys, since my costume slots that became unuseable, was after playing "Sphere of Influence" back then. Its already been confirmed back then by Dev crypticfrost post: http://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/comment/11726079#Comment_11726079

But yeah, we still have the same problem, unuseable costume slots.

they may be the same kinds of slots. we got them differently, but they may be the same things, and fixing one could fix the other.

i still think they should allow us to delete any slot we wanted to.

Well yeah, we both got slots we can't use on our characters, can't edit, or rename. It is the same bug.

Woah a whole week have gone by already?
Anyways, I am not gonna give up trying to get a response on the problem this time. Tickets ingame sadly haven't gotten me anywhere. So all I can do it keep this thread here alive. And hope a Dev or Bug Hunter notices it.

Well, it's my understanding that the in-game system tends to land in the lap of clueless people who have no idea how to do anything but offer excuses and/or cookie cutter advice that doesn't ever solve the problem.

Couldn't hurt to tag a dev type person to get their attention. *cough* @borticuscryptic *cough*

I'm guessing, at this point, that you don't remember the individual costume pieces you used in those slots?

Well, I can still open the 5 slots in the tailor and see what parts they use. But I can't save any edits(including using a new saved costume from another slot, pressing random button, or using a ingame premade suggestion), can't rename, or even use them.
Doesn't save any edits, just goes back to what it was before.
When trying to rename them, I get a "[System] [Failed] Outfit uses invalid parts" dispite the fact I own all parts used.

Anyway, picture of the 5 slots: http://i.imgur.com/x76VByD.jpg

    Honor Guard With Helmet:
Is just the full standart Klingon Honor Guard costume, but with the "Honor Guard Hos" belt instead of the default.

    Gladiator:
    female "Armored" top,
    "Klingon Empire" badge
    Armored Colloar 01
    Bortasqu' Warrior bracers
    "Veteran Decorated" belt
    Skirt - Warrior Decorated
    Boot Bortasqu' Warrior

    Time Armor:
"Time Traveler" top, bottom, and boots
    "Round Layered" shoulders
    Armored Colloar 01
    Gloves Padded
    Klingon Sash T01 03
    "Gauntlet 01" on both wrists
    Spine Armor
"Loincloth Klingon" belt with "Whole" cloth

    Time:
Entire Korath costume set, with "Gloves Padded"

    Coat:
    Winter Coat Long Black
    Gloves Badded
    Scarf KDF Holiday 2012
    "Wintercoat Black" belf
    "Tight - Basic" pants
    Boot Bortasqu' Warrior

    Long Robe:
    "Vedek" robe top and bottom
    Boot Soft Off-Duty

Non of them got anything in common.

I don't have a lot of those costume parts unfortunately, but this is helpful. Can you replicate any of these costumes in another slot from scratch and save/edit properly, or are some of those options no longer available in the same categories?

Yup, can replicate all of those from scratch in other slots. Can even save the outfits template from the bugged slots and then open them in another working slot with no problems.
The bug doesn't seem to be the items. Its the slots themself that are locked out from saving edits and such.

    Question Boss:

Did you use any items, say a belt or something, that has since been removed from the tailor?

Also Try Something, it may sound stupid but try it none the less.
    • Open a Broken Costume,
    • When you see the Preset Uniforms, that they show you, Just apply a random one.
    • Then try and save it, see if it works.
    • Then Rebuild what you have from scratch, Don't load a saved costume

I'm wondering if the problem is the "Saved" Costume.

While back I got the EMH Boff, I Edited him on one toon and put him in the Odyssey Uniform, because I'm lazy,
I saved the Outfit, and then tried to load it on another toon. Now anytime I try and Edit him, or Rename it I get that Same Error, but I'm pretty sure it still goes through, but i'll have to check.

I already said I tried those things. Its the slots thats broken. They don't save changes done to them.

I know there is a few posts in this thread. But I've already given a lot of info in each post.
Even the fact a dev have worked on this problem before. And other people had thiers locked costume slots returned.

So I raised this issue in the bug hunter forum. The short story is the devs still don't know why it's broken yet, so they can't fix it. Will update if there are further developments.

Well, thank you. Atleast its nice to get some confirmation that its looked into. Since all the other past bug reports I filled out from time to time aren't anywhere to be seen on the support page when I log in, kinda felt annoyed that I've reported it a bunch of times but never gotten any reply or fix.

    Additional Infomation, @robothitchhiker
I've copied over the character to the Tribble Test server a few times before when testing upcoming things, and the bugged never gets copied over, which when the devs working on this in the past said was a problem since it didn't give them anything to test with as to what is bugged.

But the newest copy of my character Wulff on the Tribble Test server, named "Wulff 1@ClaudiusDK", still has two bugged costume slots.
Slots named: "Coat" and "Long Robe".
Dunno if that would be of any help for the devs testing and looking for a fix. But could give them something to work on.

Posting so I can hopefully find this again if a solution ever appears. I also have bugged slots. Can copy from to another slot, but can not rename or edit the broken slot in any way.
Support requests get a response to file a bug report. Bug Reports just disappear.

have to add my voice here too. I now too have that nasty Bug, BUT unlike most People i have it on a Federation Character.
After i got a new Boff, i opened it in Space and entered the Tailor there, wanted to change a few things and ended up with several "Ghost Costume Slots" that are unusable and also some of my allready Cretead Costumes are also borked now, whenever i try to modify an existing Costume or creatd a new one, it will create another "Ghost Slot" that is not visible in the "normal" Tailor on ground but only in Space, yet those Ghost Slots are making the normal Slots also unusable.

What i dont understand is, just WHY dont we have a "Delete" Costume option???? Let us just Delete any Costume we dont want or that is broken, ISSUE SOLVED, if Delted that Slot could go back to the Free Costume Slots Pool so we can use it later if we want.

sometimes iam really confused about the fact that such simple and basic mechanics are for whatever reason not in the game? So many people wouldnt have a issue and/or could "fix" it themself if we had that option so @borticuscryptic or any other Dev, could we have that "Delete Costume" option in the Tailor PLEASE?????

i just got that bug and it allready bugs the hell out of me, i dont want to see all those borked slots and would like to be able to edit, rename and wear the ones that i have.

Give it up. I did. KDF, right?

I got all sorts of locked out costumes, I can't get rid of them so they taunt me every time I go in the tailor.

The only change I have seen over the years is: I can now see the broken costumes listed in the drop down list for "switch costumes". :(

I am afraid to touch the tailor even though I would like to get that Kelvin Regalia Outfit.
