Also about pets, I know most ppl want immunity against warp core breaches, but what about a passive skill that adds a bit more power to fighters like wingman from pilot spec tree. I mean it even makes sense. Every pilot from Top Gun to Battlestar Galactica had at least a wingman... And it would improve the fighters, since IIRC, in general, curent meta is that frigates outclass fighters. So fighters will gain more wingman stacks out of it, thus getting closer to the frigates.
I rather like this idea in specifics. In general, I don't get why they put command powers on the Breen carrier rather than piloting options like this one. Do people at cryptic actually think that carrier pilots in the real world would benefit by some admiral on the carrier telling them when to break left during a dogfight?
Piloting skills and powers make sense for carriers, not micromanaging commanders interfering with the guy holding the stick!
Every faction cant have everything. I dont think Romulans will ever get a full carrier. A carrier with a battlecloak is a bad idea anyways.
Because people will launch frigates and then hide in pvp or because of the damage boost from decloaking?
I don't believe the damage boost effects pets. As for the launch and hide tactic, scimitars already carry borg drones. I don't think losing weapons to get another bay is a balance issue. Cloaked ships are so easy to find and counter anyways.
I would base it on the Vo'Quv stats and Tier-6-ify it. (And release it together with a Tier 6 Vo'Quv). The unusual aspect of the Tier 5 Vo'Quv was of course that it had a Dual Lt.Cmdr slot....
This is a good design if they don't do the battle-carrier. Or if they plan to do both, since I'd open my wallet for an Alpha carrier and Gamma battle-carrier. The long range shield emitter works for the federation but IMO would be a hindrance for KDF using S'kuls (yes I use them... just because they are fun).
I'm curious about the Advanced Tractor Beam arrays ship trait. I don't see this as much of a selling point unless you also want them to effect tractor beam repulsors with some sort of hull penetration. Then people might want the trait for their science builds. A Ship trait that doesn't cross builds won't have much selling power.
There are other ship traits that only really help Carriers, too. See the Breen Carrier trait or the Heavy Escort trait.
I intended to mean every tractor beam ability, which means also tractor beam repulsors. Even without that, the trait is very "cross-class" already, since it is intended to affect also seperation pets. There aren't that many ships with seperation abilities, but there are a few. (Among them would be any flagship with the Aquarius/HoSus Escort deployable.)
Generally I am trying to find trait ideas that give something useful to powers that no one uses anymore. Tractor Beam itself is not seen often. Scramble Sensors, Jam Sensors, Charged Particle Burst, Photonic Shockwave... They all seem mostly gone since they do little in the current meta.
UMMM... 12 pets with sensor scan I ??? You really don't like cloaked ships in PVP, do you? Other than that issue I like the drones.
It might be a question of how well these abilities actually stack - plus the reduced range. Not that there is much PvP going on these days anyway. But I primarily like the idea that Starfleet Carriers particularly are designed for exploration, too, and that is reflected with their unique "pets".
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Every faction cant have everything. I dont think Romulans will ever get a full carrier. A carrier with a battlecloak is a bad idea anyways.
Hmmm, I've been thinking a bit about this. What if the lost of a battlecloak would be sweetened with something romulan-esque, something that would still give that element of subterfuge and deceit that is characteristic to the romulans?
Something like a startship trait (altho that would be far-fetched), a special integrated ability or even console related ability that ports the romulan drones mechanics over to a carrier warbird or a sci dread warbird.
Now, rumors around the watercooler suggests that the new fed carrier may have SA. So how about a romulan warbird carrier (or a sci dread warbird for that matter) that when uses SA on a fiend/ally, to mimic that friend's ship and you get some +th or -th (and some defence maybe... for some PvP sake...). There are allready consoles like the ferengi marauder's console or the vet ship's ones that can display two toggle modes... Basic idea here is "I buff my friend and I am helping him further by taking some of the incoming fire away from him" in the +th case or "I buff my friend and thus I am helping myself too by lowering enemy hate towards me" in case of -th. And if you use SA on the enemy you get +th or -th (and some acc maybe... again for PvP reasons) and mimic the enemy ship.
Now of course, most likely becouse of the size, the mimic part will be limited, just like in the case of rom drones. Those get their ship mimics from a limited data base so this will probably be the case here too. Like if you target a fed faction ship, the rom carrier warbird (and/or a sci dread warbird) would take the appreance of the fed carrier or a cruiser, iconic like Galaxy or not, or a vesta in the case of a sci dread warbird. And for kdf faction the same, a kdf carrier/ battecruiser or a varanus mimic. And in the case of enemy factions... this is were the fun and hype will be. Like vs borg faction, a sphere, in tholian case, a recluse/orb weaver and so on. Imagine a sphere and 4 probes (or 2 for a sci dread) just passing by in a "These are not the droinds... ehem... romulan carrier/sci dread and drones you are looking for" moment
Also that +th/-th thing may come-in handy for sci aficionados who allready use the new research lab consoles and miss the +th/-th from the embassy ones.
Waiting for the day they release a ship mod to add an extra Hanger Slot to your Carrier... The current slot number just doesn't add enough variety to your fighter bay, despite variety existing in pretty much every Sci-Fi franchise ever...
In general, I don't get why they put command powers on the Breen carrier rather than piloting options like this one.
Because it actually have Int station that at the time of release was the only specialization with BO abilities available.
And Pilot would be pretty awful on a carrier, I can understand not liking command since command is awful in abilities but Pilot isnt that good either, especially compared with Int.
OOPS! That shows how often I bother to play my Breen carrier. Pilot options might not turn your fancy for a carrier, but some of us roleplay and it just makes more sense regardless of the DPS. Reinforcement squadron would be logical here.
However I must admit that for a battle-carrier, I think that piloting would be pretty spectacular for bridge officer skills. Reroute reserves to weapons and attack pattern lambda would make a nice combination with science skills like jam sensors, energy siphon, or gravity well. It also provides a break from the never ending boredom of Fire at Will.

3 Fore Weapons, 3 Aft Weapons.
2 Hangar Bays
4 Device Slots
Bridge Officer Slots: Based on the Tier 5 Vo'Quv, I basically changed the Lt.Science to a Lt.Universal and added an Ensign Science.I originally only wanted to add an Ensign Universal, but that didn't seem to do justice to the unusual layout the original Vo'Quv had.
Starship Mastery Trait - Advanced Tractor Beam Arrays: When you activate a tractor beam ability, you reduce your hangar and separation pet cooldowns by 10 %: In addition, any target you hit with a tractor beam ability suffers a penalty to energy damage resistance.
Universal Console - Long Range Shield Emitter: Your ship is equipped with a long range shield emitter. When you activate this ability, all allied hangar bay and separation pets within 10 km gain a minor shield heal over time, 10 % shield hardness and become immune to warp core breaches for 15 seconds. Passively, this console boosts all shield heals you grant to allies.
New Hangar Pet - Sensor Drone: (more drone ideas) The sensor drone is actually designed to be both useful in military engagements as well as in exploration. It comes with advanced sensor systems similar to the best standard probes, but is also armed and shielded.
Drones Launched: 3 (6 maintainable per hangar bay)
Abilities: Energy Field Analysis - An enemy targeted by this ability takes additional damage from energy attacks and grants torpedo attacks against the target a small amount of shield penetration. If used on an ally, shield heals provide additional healing against the target and cause a small amount of bonus to shield hardness.
Advanced: Energy Field Analysis, Limited Sensor Scan I (like Science Captain Sensor Scan, but 5 km radius)
Elite: Energy Field Analysis, Limited Sensor Scan I (like Science Captain Sensor Scan, but 5 km radius), Viral Matrix I
Does it have to be Command...I'm getting so sick of almost everything having Command...
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Me too. Do you like piloting, intelligence or maybe something universal?

The fact that such a thing exists is just sad.
Just give us one with 8 hanger bays and call it a day. No weapons slots or anything, just hangers is good. It'd be interesting if nothing else.
