Somehow I got the impression the winner had already been chosen and it will be presented as "the popular vote".
LOL, that is a possibility. The key is if they show or hide the votes. If they show them, then we can obviously see what is most popular as the contest progresses. If they hide them, then they could hypothetically do whatever they want.

If they show the votes than certain radical groups (Jupiter fans) can manipulate the competition to make sure a certain design wins by mass voting and making fake accounts etc.
Not saying this WILL happen but it definitely could happen. I think voting should be done anonymously and the list updated to simply show the ships in order of votes but no hard numbers. They could update the list every week or so. That way it would be harder for the list to be manipulated but we would know which one is winning.

Well the next Enterprise contest was based on player designs...this one is based on their designs...I don't see there being as big of a problem.
Since they're putting so much into this I could see them perhaps including several of the top winners...they have multiple options if a dual or quad nacelled ship wins...really liking Alpha myself.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Everyone in the office has our own individual favorites, but we're actually holding back on discussing them because we don't want to create a bias. This is genuinely a "Which one do you guys want?"
I like the design of the ship in my sig picture. Make it Klingon and call it a T6 K'tinga upgrade.
Hull - The hull will remain the same as the existing K'tinga.
Mission Pod - Something a bit more streamlined being that this vessel was never big in the scheme of Klingon ships. I like the mission pod on the Vor'kang or even the Koro'tinga.
Nacelles - Vor'cha nacelles, obviously scaled to fit. Or...the armored nacelles from the Tor'khat. Any possibility should be slightly angled inward just like the existing D7/K'tinga design.
Neck - Two possibilities...keep the existing K'tinga neck and/or an option to use a neck similar in style to the Vor'kang.
Command center - Three possibilities...Koro'tinga, Vor'kang, Vor'cha...again, all scaled to fit. Being that the Vor'cha has a long forward piece, that might be shortened somehow but still retaining the prongs of a tuning fork look.
Impulse engines in the rear should be changed graphically somehow.
New ship would have a crew of 600 and be designated a light cruiser or a fast attack cruiser.
If you really want to get fancy, it could come in the three flavors: Tactical, Engineering and Science and have BOFF and console layout accordingly.

Hey, I wasn't the one that suggested the conspiracy theory, plus I was mainly jk
That said, are you going to make the votes public or keep them private? If the latter, is there any specific reason?
The KDF already has a decent Klingon carrier. And Roms don't carry fighters. They shotgun plasma... ah TRIBBLE! Wrong game! Carriers + Missles + Awesome Cat People == Where the F#%$ are my Kzinti?!?!?!?!?!?!!!
See? When it comes to complaining, we don't need any help, but I thank you for your encouragement.
Carrier landings in Wing Commander 1 were always exciting -- no auto-landing. Mess up, and you have to play the whole mission again. Though Roberts & co called them "Kilrathi" since they didn't want to pay Niven
Edit: unless you meant the adaptation of Niven's "the soft weapon" in TAS

I have no problem with the Kilrathi. I frickin' loved playing Wing Commander 3 and 4. And I did actually manually land a couple times.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Yes, this and I've played a lot of Star Fleet Battles in the past. The Kzinti were represented in that game as well. It did become a decent computer game called Star Fleet Command, but they robbed the creator of SFB and never completed a true Volume 3 of the game. My best hope now is to mount Ferengi missiles on a Catian carrier while spamming Torp Spread and weep silently to myself.
I just finished a meeting with 'The Community' and they told me they were ready.

I got the bad feeling this might turn into odyssey 2.0 ...
The Odyssey contest was a typical weekday on the forums. I've seen some people try to paint that as some kind of debacle. Really, I think that's being hypersensitive.
The Odyssey contest went much smoother than I expected it to.

Nope - because the players themselves aren't designing ort submitting anything. It appears the Ship Devs have created some new designs; and we (the playerbase) will just vote on the various options presented; and the winning options will become the ultimate in-game model for the ship.
The playerbase will effectively have no one single person (or Judge) to blame. Majority vote will carry the day.

Best Dreadnought ever and we LOVE it.
