This game won't even let me use the TOS earpiece on male boffs. Yes, Uhura is best known for it, but Chekov, Spock, and several male extras also wore it in the series.

Also, low heeled boots are female's only despite the fact that Kirk wore a pair like them through most of TOS.

OTOH, they let female characters use Kirk's tunic uniform, which no woman ever used in the show. I don't mind it being open to female toons (like you said, who knows what other captains were doing in the TOS universe), but it's telling that that uniform would be for both genders but not this other stuff.

Lots of male characters wore heels in TOS. It was the 1960's and it was totally normal for men to wear shoes like that (and I live in Europe where it's still totally normal for men to wear short heels). And that shouldn't even matter because this is Star Trek.

In general I think that STO is pretty good on gender equality issues for an MMO (if one ignores the ads for the game) but there are some weird restrictions built into the costumes.

    Please and thank you.
    Seconded.

Suits for female characters would be nice. That said I would (as a few others have mentioned) like the option to remove the tie if that goes live.

Most likely suits would have to be re-tailored for female toons, and there are many attractive, professional-looking styles out there to draw inspiration from. It would be very nice to have a nice-looking suit (with pants, not just insanely short skirts that look like they'd give the wearer indoor hypothermia as the only option).

Well, it'd be nice if they kept the option of tie/bow-tie for females. Currently, I'm using the combo of one talaxian vest, colored to black, with white colored shirt, and black pants, as a mockup of somewhat formal, civilian clothing. The bow-tie option is sorely missing... and it'd look so much better if we could use the Odyssey pants with it, as they look more formal. <_<

My point is, I don't want them to end up making only super-feminine version, if they do. Something classy & neutral would be cool-beans, as an alternative. <.<

I don't see why it needs designed differently for females. Just shaped differently. The whole point of my suggestion is to have the same design for both sexes.

But for the record, I'm not opposed to different designs being OPTIONS, as long as the same design is included among them.

The option to have them, sure. I'd personally like the option not to have them on males.

Haha, I'm always more in favor of options, rather than forced, it's how I roll, regardless of gender. But, not having the options on some outfits is jarring for me.

When I say it should be designed differently, take a look at the old, long Vice Admiral coat on a female toon. That was NOT exactly a flattering look when transferred from a male to a female toon. That's what I want to avoid with a direct copy of the male formalwear to women, because if it's done like the VADM coat was, we'll get an asset that is still basically unusable for female toons. I want it to look like a tailor actually checked it for proper fit first.

BTW, I don't think I ever said to take away the tie option for anyone who wants it? I thought what I recommended was providing the option to remove it.

It does look horrible... imho. Makes the butt look unnaturally big, disregarding your character's sliders completelly. :p

For a lady with curves, there are much better ways with a jacket to flatter them. This is kind of what I think they were trying to do on the VADM coat, but it didn't come off very well: http://i00.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/522207222/Free-Shipping-Fashion-Women-Long-Cashmere-Coat-With-Belt-Warm-Winter-Clothes-Girl-Overcoat-Coat-Woman.jpg

(Note: Would like Starfleet version along these lines.)

The hips are enormous irrespective of prior sliders.

Of course not, given the size of bonkadonks your characters have. Hahaha. <3

And for the most part on my female toons/BOFFs, I put the bust slider down as small as I can get it to go. Needless to say that makes the problem with the VADM coat tailoring all the much more obvious.

I'm the same, really. So agreed. Some outfits ignore the settings of our sliders, which is imho a baddie. :3

And in the interest of providing more proof that the first half of this thread is a good idea, I'll leave this piece of Hearthstone promo art (specifically, for the League of Explorers addon) here...

I too, do not use the cute/sexy/relaxed poses because they just look awkward. The 'cute' pose actually looks to me like the toon needs to use the bathroom and is trying to 'hold it'. The 'sexy' pose is not sexy at all and only looks like they're standing there, bored, and wondering what to do next. Also, it looks like her back is all out of alignment. The 'relaxed' pose makes them look half-drunk. I also don't use creature because it's creepy.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D
