Lost about Ground reputation sets

Hi guys,

I feel so lost about ground sets because of the lack of videos and threads. I keep hearing the omega and maco are the best but i am currently wanting the delta ground set. I like it because of its good shield, high crit chance weapon and good defensive procs on its armor... plus it looks cool. Could i get some thoughts about an overview on each set? Or the very least the thoughts on the delta set.

Omega, Maco, and Honor Guard are decent team-oriented anti-borg ground sets. Omega is ranged damage focused, Maco is defensive focused, and Honor Guard is melee damage focused.

The Delta set provides good damage resistance and buffs that reduce damage to shields.

Task Force Omega Sets have team buffs, I use the Omega Set on my Tac and love it. I tried switching it with the Romulan Set but went back. The 20% plasma damage bonus still didn't make it as good. If you want to tank a bit, go with the Dyson.

Maco/Adapted Honor Guard and Honor Guard/Adapted Maco are generally the go-to choices for fighting the Borg. The full 3-piece set bonus includes an integral Remodulator power that has an instant application compared to the delayed activation of normal remodulators, plus it doesn't take up a device slot. Both weapons are also good choices against the Borg, Pulsewave and Sniper Rifle are single-shot weapons with high damage, so they generally take longer for the Borg to adapt to. The Omega set also has the integral Remodulator 3-piece bonus, but its Full Auto Rifle weapon isn't as good against the Borg due to its multishot style. The 2-piece stealth power is more situational as a general-use power but gives an ambush bonus to start fights with. All 3 sets are good sets to use based on build, as an Engineer I generally preferred the Adapted Maco due to the 2-piece Adrenal Stim power that could give me a quick heal, where a Tac or Sci might prefer the standard Maco for the 2-piece shield heal.

Worth noting that the integral Remodulator is unncessary if you have a TR-116B or intend to primarily use melee (not counting the Plasma melee weapons), as the Borg don't adapt to Kinetic or Physical damage. You can still get the team bonus from the 3-piece set if you slot the necessary weapon in your second weapon slot, but keep in mind that the team bonuses from the same sets don't stack, so if someone else on the team is using the full set and is actively using that set's weapon, consider using a mixed set for the 2-piece bonus or one of the other sets for a different team bonus.

The Dyson set is a good all-around set with a mix of offensive and defensive bonuses that I used for a long while. The rifle it comes with was the first weapon to have the unique feature of changing its secondary fire when the target is Exposed. Under normal circumstances its secondary mode was essentially a Wide-Beam attack with a chance to Expose targets, but when specifically targeting an enemy that is already Exposed the attack switches to the Exploit Sniper shot. In addition, its primary fire has a chance to Expose targets on its own. It's one of only 2 weapons to deal Proton damage outside of a weapon proc. The armor and shields had good defensive values and effects, and the 3-piece set bonus is an activated power that turns you into a heavy bunker, almost indestructible when used with some heals but also renders you immobile. The power can be turned off early if you need to move but it still goes on full cooldown.

The full Nukara sets shouldn't really be used if an Environmental Suit isn't needed, with the possible exception of Bug Hunt due to the predominant Toxic damage, but there are better choices. The armors have lower energy resistances than even standard armors, but higher hazard resistances making them good choices against the Tholians due to their using primarily radiation attacks and possibly against Breen due to their use of cold attacks. The weapon/shield combos might be somewhat useful in some cases, and not too long ago one of the Nukara ground shields was the preferred shield to use in mixed sets due to its high innate resistance and capacity. The Crystalline Sword is still used to some extent by Tacs (due to having melee powers and skill bonuses) and to a lesser extent Scis (due to having some point blank attacks and heals and since the likely melee counter attacks mostly ignore shields). Being a physical weapon, it can be used to good effect against the Borg but the user runs the risk of being assimilated, although Scis can counter that with Nanite Health Monitor.

The Counter Command armor is usually the armor of choice for Bug Hunt due to high Physical and Toxic resists. Don't have much else to say on the set, I haven't used it much.

I haven't really used either the Delta or Iconian sets, nothing about them really struck me as being something I wanted, but I think that's more to do with my career and playstyle choices. Can't comment on effectiveness.

Regarding visuals, once you have the full set you can apply the visuals to yourself regardless of what you actually have equipped, so if you like the Delta appearance then get the full Delta set then go to the tailor and customize it however you like.

You dont neccessarily need a full set. Combinations or 2pc bonus can be fine too. The delta set you're eying is definately not bad especially for a starter.

Some thoughts copied from another thread for you:
Omega or shattering harmonics shield for 30% dodge (40% at mk xiv)
Delta armor (+ 2. pc) giving very good resists and some HP, 2pc bonus gives even more HP and run speed, the gun isnt bad either with its primary expose -> secondary exploit
CC Armor + 2pc is one of the strongest energy resists available, 2pc gives 5% CritH

When playing in strong groups fleet recoil compensating armor could be interesting, very low def but 80 CritD.
