I have no use for a new faction. And lately "Story Content" has been shooting galleries interspersed between lengthy and bad cut scenes with overpaid ST voice actors mostly phoning in their dialogue. Props to Aron Eisenberg and Robert Duncan McNeill for bothering to give a **** despite the lines they were given, beyond those two I'd rather listen to more from Mr. Jeremy "Borticus" Randall telling me he's there, as it's better than the halfhearted (yet still expensive) deliveries that the rest of the ST cast members have given.
I'll gladly take some kind of exploration content over that. Hell, I'll take a slightly more polished version of the old exploration clusters over that.
Not just include the Tholian space all spidery in shape unlike the globular shape of all other races, but include the bordering tzekenthi race, the Vanguard wreckage, Tholian Origin story, a Q story involving the Galactic Barrier, the Gorn Homeworld for KDF.
Even give a linked story with the True Way and Shaliak. (A TNG Thing)
It could potentially be greater than the first two Expansions put together.

Anything BUT a new faction or a level cap increase. A new sector would be neat, but space is huge as it is, so new content doesn't necessarily require one.
Really, what I'd be happy with is some bug fixes and balance tuning. Tone down the OP stuff and (as much as can be possible) eliminate the Tactical Trek Online direction this game has moved in. There shouldn't be consoles that are so good that literally nothing else warrants switching them out. I'm looking at you, fleet plasma consoles.
Bug fixes, an adventure zone as awesome as the dyson area, 2-3 STFs, and featured episode dripfeed like what we got from this current season would be great in my opinion--as long as the focus remains on bug fixes and balance tuning.
Oh, and quality of life enhancements. Start by having kills generate EC, then eliminate all of the food/consumable/commodity/white/green trash drops. Drops should be meaningful and useful, not something people don't even want to pick up.

Indeed. Most of the time, I pick it up just to get the words "take item" off my viewscreen. And when inventory is full. I wind up having to clean out the trash. I'm almost certain there's an auto-loot feature. Now how about an auto-reject?
I would love to see the continuation from the Dust to Dust episode. Do Keton and Jhet'leya become a couple? Do they get married? Does human DNA provide the means for the Kobali to end "rebirth" and begin the process of Koabli procreation? It would also be nice to find out if Libby and Harry are together at last.
Though I voted more story, I would like to see a nice hybrid similar to what we seen with the Breen Featured Episodes. Defera Sector could be a mini-expansion in itself.
Cardassians. We know they're coming anyway, and they make the most sense to become a new faction out of all the powers in STO. I say, it's about time it happens.
Not interested in a new faction, I don't even play Klingons or Romulans. Opening up the Gamma Quadrant along with revamping the Cardassian arc and DS9 would be perfect for me.
Dear (nondenominational) god this needs to happen. Having leveled several alts, I pretty dread the Cardassian Struggle arc up until the Dominion featured episodes show up. Hell, I skip it whenever possible because it's so bad--both in content and reward.
Because as silly as it is... Id want some form of player housing... (quarters or otherwise) because it would be interesting to have a space that could be decorated and be completely our own. And it seems popular in just about every MMO its ever introduced into.
I'd like to see a Civilian Fraction added to the game eventually, so one doesn't have to be a Klingon or Orion to be freighter captain or pirate.

You can have as many houses as you have active ships. Seriously though, I wish they'd expand the ship interior system to allow this kind of thing.

You'd think somebody in charge, would remember how fantastic the (original) game play was in SW Galaxies (both the SIM & Fighting aspects). How player-popular and financially succesful it really was.
It seems that the professional game-creating community certainly DOES NOT learn from past Mistakes and/or Successes.
Even the folks behind TOR didn't really learn from Star Wars-Galaxies best features (though they do seem to be trying to get some of the better aspects into that game).

One thing I've learned is that what's best for the players and the game isn't always best for the development team in terms of resources and profitability. Hence the lockboxes instead of cool things like more customizable ship interiors, etc.

The thing is, because of the vastly diverse game-player-community that LOVE's Trek, this game could go for many, many more years and bring in a guarenteed continous cash flow, if They would just expand Their thinking beyond the next "quick-buck season".
And I'm not really talking about the Dev's in this case (cause I believe most of Them already get it), I'm referring to the folks who actually make the 'money' decisions at the top.
If PWE really want's us to stick around and give them the keys to our bank accounts, They need to expand Their thought processes beyond the 'smack-a-keyboard' game play features.

Nagus already discussed above that bug fixes are NOT an expansion. No matter how many times you ask, they'll never stop working on the game just to fix bugs. It's not worth the trouble.
There is no doubt that expansions can come with bug fixes, but the point is that the bug fixes are not the "expansion" itself. The "expansion" is "the new stuff", whatever it may be.
No you see, "the new stuff" is areas/missions/battlezones/defera/whatever that is bug free. This will be new for players. To be able to do these things without bugs or crashes, or to be able to do them at all. All new.
Exactly what you said.

The starship interior is not even close to what Im talking about... (infact Id say we could lose ship bridges and interiors and be no worse off for it)... luckily someone else brought up the one game I remember fondly messing around with my house for hours on end... Star Wars Galaxies.
Now... Im under no delusions that a player housing system right out of Galaxies could be implemented, (though maybe if our fleet armadas are allowed to claim a colony world... it could be done... with full fleet cities with different houses and building sizes) but being able to purchase quarters on ESD or DS9 (or the myriad of other space stations in the game) and being able to decorate them with more than just trophies or gold ship models would be amazing... give every item (that makes sense, so no warp cores or deflector arrays for your quarters) a world visual like Galaxies (where just about every piece of loot could be used for decoration) and allow use something more comples than SWTORs hook implementation (which is just awful)... and I could spend hours just tweaking my quarters like I do my costumes.
I just want to explore somewhere. See new worlds, meet new people/civilizations, go where no man has gone before. I'm kinda getting bored of blasting enemies out of space.

What if it's not "quick-buck season" thinking, but actually just "we spend money on maintaing the game and expanding it, and we must have a return on that investment or we close down?"
We have seen the game when it didn't make money. I don't remember the people joyfully saying "thank god there is nothing to spend money on". We saw people complaining about a "content drought".
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
They failed with the new Annorax dreadnought in terms of marketing. That vessel looks awesome especially that it looks like a roving Babylon 5 station. Krenim costumes and other Krenim-related stuff could have been sold to make it a complete dumb "TRIBBLE" experience.

I don't really mind them, mainly because of my love for all things DS9, but they've definitely not aged well. Thankfully they've already said that it'll be getting some TLC soon. I just hope that also includes more content going forward rather than just a new lick of paint.

Bug fixes, but since you did not add that, shame on you, a new faction. I want my Dominion Vorta...no matter how crappy it's traits might be.

I wouldn't mind seeing the "Prophet Gates" Sela talked about deep in Beta. She said no human has made it that far. That place sounded interesting.
