Coordinated Assault Trait is pretty much useless

Ok yeah, if you run Hold Together or Pedal to the Metal, Coordinated Assault is less effective. Since you can't drop your throttle to pick up your fighters.
It's not just that. Simply using a hyper engine, or any kind of (non-pilot) speed boost will make the fighters lag behind. It's easily fixed by increase the fighter's top speed to 75 instead of 50. Or if that's too troublesome, at least increase the trait range to over 10km. Because 9 out of 10 times, that's where your fighters will be.

I suspect that this mutual exclusivity is done on purpose so players can choose either (but not both) paths for damage potential. Also, if you want to run a pilot escort, why would you choose the Alita? Wouldn't one of the Pilot Escorts fit that role much better?
Because it has pilot seats? I'm not doing anything crazy with the ship, I'm only flying it the way it was designed.

If the fighters only got left behind if you use, say, a teleport or a super speed jump, I'd understand. But the fact that they cannot even keep up with ship using a hyper engine means that something is amiss. You should be able to fly an escort at speed 50. Otherwise, why make it an escort? Turn the ship into a cruiser then.
Generally escort mode is best. But the most important point is to learn the combat script of your particular pets!
While that's certainly helpful advice, it doesn't really fix the speed issue that's the main problem with this trait.

Hey bud, I'm not trying to start an argument here (it'll be quite obvious if I were lol), I'm just trying to say that you'll likely have to give up some of your speed/manuverability to properly manage the hangar pets. Luckily the Alita is a fairly tanky escort and you could build it for some durability and slap your target in the face while your fighters do their work!

It's a trade-off, yes you lose some of your escort advantages, but you gain some advantages of carriers.

Would I like to see a (modest) increase to hangar pet flight speed? Hell yeah, have you seen those brek frigates? I could get out and push them to their targets faster!

    [Start pessimism]
But, unfortunately, such a change would likely require the Devs to dig out the speed variables on ALL of the current hangar pets and apply a boost. An easy enough task, but time consuming and the 'bosses' would likely not be willing to spare any Dev time on a QoL improvement which will only really affect owners of Escort carrier class ships.
    [End pessimism]

Still, if you don't use Pedal to the Metal, you could slam the breaks scoop up your fighters and zip off again relatively quickly. It would take some adjusting to your playstyle but you could manage a fairly manuverable escort and still be able to manage your fighters. :)

Which hangars for you are slow? The Jem Fighters and Orion slavers are super duper fast.....?

My apologies. Neither am I, so sorry if I wrote it in such a way that made it appear to be so.

I think we can agree that hangar pets were designed for a much slower meta. They simply can't keep up with today's speed options, especially on a pilot-based escort. Any speed boost, and your hangar pets are gone.

Increasing pet max speed will improve a lot of the issues they have, without directly increasing their dps. Apart from what you mentioned, I can't think of a good reason not to make the change. But I'll admit, I'm not optimistic about the actual implementation.

I've tried with several hangar pets, and none could keep up whenever I consistently fly at 50 speed or greater. Which on my escort, is 95% of the time.
