So, what's tanked the dil exchange rate this time?

Just curious, the exchange rate seemed to be calming down a bit, now it is well over 200 (225 just a minute ago). Surely the new heavy escorts aren't good enough to be the only thing driving the exchange rate that high? Thoughts?

The rapid release of so many T6 ships the last few months drove the prices up because Zen is in demand now. It MIGHT have been a bit higher except we did get a new fleet holding.

    Not that it helped much.

My thought is 225 a minute ago is your problem, you are new and haven't watched the market. I'd accuse you of wanting to boost your post count, like a couple people have with lag issues, but your post count is fine. I'll just assume you have no idea of what the market has been.

    225 is high!! Run away!!!!

I'd sarcastically write more but my beer is coming out my nose, I'm laughing so hard....

Seriously, with the new ship and the crafting weekend, this is a drop that deserves more attention than "it's too high!!".

Cryptic seems desperate for cash infusions in form of ships and lock boxes. Peeps convert their Dil to get Zen for that.

The new holding is cool but it’s progression demands aren’t that big of a deal as far as dil is concerned. For 1-2 dedicated players per fleet it should not be hard to max it out. I think the influence on the dil exchange will become obvious later on when peeps want to get the stuff they can get there.

Yeah 225 is actually considerably lower than it's been for a good few months. It was up around the 260 mark for a long time.

Of course nothing compared to the 130 mark it was at just over a year ago but the fleet holding should keep it down a little bit provided they don't flood the place with new ships.
It really is the constant release of new ships and lockboxes that pushes the price up as everyone wants the new shiny toys so Zen is in high demand from those converting dilithium.

The answer is simple we have a new dilithium sink in form of the new Research Lab.

The Research Lab really did it. As the ships didn't phase it much. I like seeing it come down. Soon it will be affordable to use again.

It's been "well over 200" for almost year now. What are you talking about?

It was the crafting weekend. Hundreds of thousands of dil used per person to upgrade one character.
Dil reserves took a massive beating.

It's indeed mainly the crafting weekend. Not only did the dil/ex rate go down, prices for crafting mats and especially tech upgrades went up like crazy over the weekend. I don't think the Research Lab is having a lot of impact yet as most fleets probably either are still working on tier 1 or just reached it. It will probably have more impact onces fleets reach the tier 2/tier 3 upgrades.

People think prices stay the same?

    *falls on the floor laughing*

I remember when it was 450 so this IS cheap. Economies fluctuate that's the way things work, it's called Capitalism. If you want it to drop to 130 I wouldn't hold your breath. It takes a specific set of factors for that to happen. Right now it's a good place that balances reward for those who buy Zen and those who Grind it out.

It is moving back up from a brief low of 216 now that people are finishing their upgrade weekend.

The research holding is having almost no effect whatsoever because... few people are actually filling up dilithium for their fleets. Eventually I suppose fleet leaders will suck it up and fill them.

I'm expecting the big market shift to happen when people gain access to the extra trait slots for the research lab. These cost quite a bit of dilithium. So I'm still hoping to get under 200 at that time. If so I will dump around 5 million dilithium. If the exchange never moves I'll dump it into fleets instead.

Perhaps the beer is a problem for you. :/

I'm hardly *new* - I'm well aware of the dil market's fluctuations. I didn't realize it had *dropped* - I expected it would've been up somewhat, I remembered it was in the _50-ish range back in June, so I assumed it had come *up* to 225, not dropped there.

Don't look at me like that, I was on vacation in July. And I'm old, I forget things.

So, right *falling* dil prices, what's up with that?

A lot of people upgraded a lot of gear this weekend and that means a lot of dil was eaten!
Ah, yeah, *this* makes sense. Completely forgot about the 'weekend event'. Thanks!
