The tools of literacy are available to most everyone in the information age, but this has the paradoxical effect of devaluing them -- that is, people assume that because anyone can write, that anyone can write well. The latter is a skill that takes work, of course. This is why skilled writers are important in game development.
This is basically what people have been trying to point out upper in the threat. Hoping you get a dedicated (and good) writer on the team.
Either way, both people will be great losses for STO...
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
omg, i cant waite to see if we can get someone who can write above a fith grade level. one of my biggest problems with this game has been the writing..
but im not all grumpy pants... good luck and hopefully you can enjoy larger success at a better studio. while i am not a fan of your writing, i certainly was a fan of your engagement of the player base. again, good luck..
Geko is a SYSTEMS designer. While he helps to shape the overall story as the Lead Designer on the project, the individual CONTENT designers, who actually implement missions, and hook up NPCs and such are the ones who would be writing dialog and stories. They actually already do that to an extent. Much of the dialog we do currently is written by that mission's content designer, and then just touched up, and trekkified by Kestrel. We may be missing the latter now, but that doesn't mean we are incapable of telling stories.
The best example I can think of is the original incarnation of the Borg STFs. Many people lamented the loss of the story being told in them.... well.... Who wrote that? I heard it was Gozer.

Since you're speaking about Geko: Now that more and more people are leaving (or beeing fired), how are the chances that he's finally leaving aswell?
I'd just like to know if there's still hope for STO. As long as Geko stays there is no hope.
It's an awesome song, but a rubbish star trek theme in my opinion, Star Trek themes have always been orchestral and that's how they should always be. I love the song, but hate how it was used.
Anyway. Sorry I missed these departures. I will also miss both of their contributions to our game. I'm hopeful the vacancies will be filled with persons both skilled and interested in Star Trek.

Yeah. I tried reporting the post earlier but the report system seems to be broken since the "upgrade", so I sent Borticus a message but I don't know if he even has mod abilities on the forums or not.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!

I'd recommend trying either yetweallfalldown, or um.. whoever the Neverwinter CM is.
It's been a long road, getting from here to there ….
(BTW – Zero loves the Enterprise theme song. If you ever meet her, be sure to sing it to her.)
After eight years at Cryptic and almost seven years as the writer of Star Trek Online, it's time to turn over my tricorder and move on to other worlds and new stories. It has been an honor and a privilege to write for a universe this deep and amazing and to be a part of the STO community. Thank you so much for the chance to be a part of your universe.
This was a very difficult decision for Frost and I to make, but I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead. And even though we're exiting the building, we are always going to be part of the Cryptic family. It is an amazing, dedicated team here, and I know they will do great things in the future. And I'll be playing – if you meet a Bolian flying an escort or an Orion in a carrier, it might just be me.
Be excellent to each other.

not to be picky but I think the line is - It's been a long road, getting from there to here …. not here to there.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

The Mighty 44th. Boldly bashing Borgs to bits since 2010.

Lol, just kidding, in all seriousness sorry to see you go, we got some great content out of you and you will be missed.

Kestrel left, and Frost too.

I actually love this song myself so much so I have told my children I would like it played at my funeral, a true trekkie to the end.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
