From our very own Kestrel
It's been a long road, getting from here to there ….
(BTW – Zero loves the Enterprise theme song. If you ever meet her, be sure to sing it to her.)
After eight years at Cryptic and almost seven years as the writer of Star Trek Online, it's time to turn over my tricorder and move on to other worlds and new stories. It has been an honor and a privilege to write for a universe this deep and amazing and to be a part of the STO community. Thank you so much for the chance to be a part of your universe.
This was a very difficult decision for Frost and I to make, but I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead. And even though we're exiting the building, we are always going to be part of the Cryptic family. It is an amazing, dedicated team here, and I know they will do great things in the future. And I'll be playing – if you meet a Bolian flying an escort or an Orion in a carrier, it might just be me.
Be excellent to each other.

uh huh, so who fills that void now?
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

In the meantime, WOW - you will be missed Kestrel. The one consistent positive in this game has been the stories. Thank you
... And party on dudes!
Your creativity will be missed.
She wasn't layed off.
I wouldn't call it a layoff I would call it an evasive action to secure employment while the old work place slowly leaves the industry.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
Good luck to both in ur new adventures.
People in comics always say, "Where do we find more female writers? We'd like more gender balance but where are the women with the background we're looking for?"
And I have made a point of mentioning Kestrel's real name to editors and pointing out that she'd be especially good for any branded property that needs a writer who can bridge conflicting takes or get character A from point B to point C. That's a LOT of what she's done here at Cryptic and she's done it brilliantly.
Even when people don't like a story, the fact that we're talking about the story and not how the story is actually about bridging some technical issue speaks well for how well she camouflaged limitations at times with story. Sure, people may have noticed that the stories are action heavy and sometimes involve poor choices but these stories were written on an incredible deadline for a solo writer and I think they wonderfully masked things like assets that weren't developed yet. There are some really longterm teases, payoffs, and ideas in there as well.
Here's wishing her the absolute best!
Goodbye
One thing I've been meaning to ask, have you ever watched Paul Gross' film Passchendaele? Kestrels were discussed, and I thought about your avatar.
Live long and prosper, Kestrel *vulcan hand salute (Vanilla really needs more emotes....)*
Safe journey...

I wish both Kestrel and crypticfrost the best of luck, but yes, crypticfrost will be missed; he was the only member of the QA staff who regularly communicated with us on the forums.
But I would really like to know who will continue the story of STO now. How long has he or she been in the team, has he or she worked with Kestrel in the past?
Well, that came as a shock. What a shame you guys are leaving us.
I do hope that whomever takes over the reigns is as good as you two were...
Maybe we can get Timothy Zhan of SW:EU fame... Well probably not, but one can dream, as his SW books have all been outstanding...
