I was in a Tholian red alert tonight that failed. They should just remove them from the game or make them only available to people that can do uber DPS.

People still fail those? Depending on what I'm piloting any red alert is an one or two man show (often the 2nd one as target for the multiple torpedoes fired).

Tholian red alerts usually have noticeable lag, in my experience. It is not usually too bad, but sometimes it is near impossible to do anything. That is when fails happen.

It is not the same. In red alert you fail because you dont kill stuff fast enough and that is the WHOLE point of the queue. I mean, it is like saying i failed to finish an episode because i got a DC. lol. In STFS, you need to fullfilt other objectives besides the main one, that in this case will be the tholian one (basically kill all stuff). The main objective of the tholian red alerts is not an optional, it is the only one lol.

Anyways, i did notice that a lot of people is just going afk sometimes in tholian red alerts. I suspect the lag is so terrible that people just dont care at all lol. I mean, i cant blame em. Maybe that is the reason you were not able to finish it.

What isn't the same? What are you even talking about?

I posted a reason why I've seen Tholian red alerts fail, and didn't even bring up STFs. I'm not sure why you seem to be contesting that.

It is well known that there are some serious lag issues with the game where abilities won't fire, and you basically are running on spacebar power the whole time, if that. When people end up dying left and right because they can't heal, when they have their weapons shut down constantly or end up trapped in webs and can't use EPTW or ET, can't use FAW, TS, or GW or other AOEs to do the kind of damage you need all because the game can't handle something or other and becomes utterly unplayable, that can cause the RA to fail.

You are right about that. Maybe what i meant was, that i dont consider a "fail" when the lag is the main player, i just drop the red alert and forget about it. It is other feeling lol. In stfs, when you fail an optional for any reason, it really feels like a fail in some way xd.

I can somewhat relate to that. In a Red Alert fail, you at least get XP commensurate to what you achieved. If you killed everything but the Tarantulas, well that is a lot of XP, and that is probably why you went in there in the first place.

In an STF a fail gets you a whole lot of nothing. For 10 marks you're better off doing anything else that rewarded marks for that thing and your time was officially wasted, not just for the time in the STF but for the half hour cooldown if you want to try again. Optional fails never bothered me much though. Those are usually out of my control and up to the luck of the draw whether the rest of the team knows what they are doing or not.
