Remove the PvE Queues?

So, I've been trying to PuG Advanced STFs today, instead of using the DPS channels.

What a giant fail fest. Every single one has been a complete failure- not just optionals, but total failure.

Players are doing stupid things, not even paying attention to what's going on. Completely ignoring objectives. It's a waste of time. After getting four cooldowns and not a single victory in a row, I'm back to the DPS channels.

Should we just get rid of the queues entirely? Even though I'd prefer to keep them (I've used them for years, after all), it seems like PuGs just can't handle the content anymore.

Hell no. There's already a better solution incoming: removing most failure conditions from Adv. optional objectives. Useful game features (ex. matchmaking) shouldn't be axed just because a few players didn't live up to your expectations.

Welcome to online multiplayer. Not everyone will be able to compete, but just the same not everyone will be a total failure either. Its a population. Want something else? You've got your channels. Where's the problem?

I'd even be up for removing PvE... but it'd be for totally different reasons. I don't find them funny anymore after replaying them for more than three times unfortunately.

Sounds like you expected to be carried through again.
PUG can be incredibly competent, often more so than crowds from DPS channels, and sometimes pretty incompetent.
Sounds like your incompetence infected the other players.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Indeed. In fact, it would be funny as heck if those who pass a certain DPS threshold were no longer allowed to PUG. Act like one is above the unwashed masses--be treated by the game like it. Everything has tradeoffs, right? ;)

(Seriously, I realize that wouldn't work. It's still funny to imagine though. ;) )

I'm not holding my breath as I wait. Note that they have delayed this another month even if it goes out next week.

I have mostly good experiences with pugs. Pugs are all I do. Just skip the 2 or 3 bad ones and... profit.

I'd rather not. For one, they exclude a lot of players. For another, they're not always as active during the hours I play.

I agree with this sentiment, but there's only so much we can do when 3 or 4 of the team members play completely obliviously to the objectives.

There've been a lot of changes that have been made to tribble recently that haven't made it to holodeck (ex. tailor pants re-categorization, DMG proc buff), which is par for the course with any big season update.

After 10.5 it'll be safe to play the snide card. ATM its jumping the gun. :P

If Pve queues were removed what would we do after we hit 60 and play all the story missions? You want to remove the only endgame STO has?

Sorry... but I read the OP and it sounds more like someone wanting to punish people... again.

NEWS FLASH! You just got really unlucky dude. PUGs are random. You don't like it and want to vape everything that moves, stick to premade DPS groups. Want an actual challenge? PUG it.

Removing the PvE queues would not only harm the community, it would cut off access to resources such as rep marks, fleet marks, and Dilithium. While it is true there are alternate sources for Dilithium like the Voth Battlezone and the actual mines, some people get their DL income from the queues. Also the ONLY other semi reliable source for Omega Marks is Defera... and I think its still a bit buggy, low payout per missions, and you'd have to get a team for the hard stuff and those can get trolled so easily with well placed Cover Shields...

So no. The queues are here to stay. No one is putting a gun to your head and saying "PUG or else". Don't like to PUG? Don't PUG. Simple as that.

Probably wonder why they blew up. I think there are still some very effective Sneak Sneak Alpha Strike builds out there that render most people... asploded.

One should know the meaning of the word "strategy". If one is able to DPS over 50K....this should be a cakewalk even if you do it on your own. I guess "team play" has a different meaning for some players.

i believe that what happens in many cases is a person gets auto-invited to the 10K channel as the result of a lucky 10,221dps run. then they get used to getting carried by all the 20-30k ppl in the channel...
once back in the pug they have neither the backup nor the dps to carry to team, so they blame everyone else around them.

    Leave PUGs alone.

I love PUGs because of the randomness it brings. I'm actually pretty bummed out that the fail scenarios are being removed. The real possibility of failure and the need to actually work for a win makes PUGging much more fun for me than the systematic sure win runs in DPS channels.

Don't underestimate PUG groups either. I've been in runs in 10k that are only marginally better than an average PUG. Sometimes, I find myself in PUGs that are even better than a 10k team. They may not have the DPS, but some PUG teams really know how to work together allowing us to win on what would normally be a sure fail scenario.

The problem with some DPS people when they enter PUGs is that they have become so used to how DPS runs, and they are so confident about their damage that they stop thinking on their feet and fail to adapt if things go differently to what they have gotten used to. I admit, I also fall into that same mistake. Even when I might be the top damage dealer in a run, I have caused some runs to fail because I got so focused on damage that I lose situational awareness.

Don't get me wrong, I like the DPS folks and I do run with them from time to time. Besides, the way I like to build my ships and the way I like to fly fits better in PUGs.

Yes, by all means.. since YOU had a problem with them.. lets get rid of them.

While we're at it, just post a list of everything you don't like and we'll all do our best to get it removed right away.

I don't agree with the OP but that statement there is equally ignorant. Expecting him to solo 5 man queues and calling him out for not being able to is borderline more stupid.

the PVE queues are a joint effort. The overall quality of the team determines success.
