What gender do you make your characters?

I'm a guy and my toons are a mixture of male and female.

Middle option goes for me. Now, my main character is inspired by the head character in my ST story I'm writing. He's half-cardassian, half-human and starfleet officer all the way. My other two characters are females (one FED TAC, one ROM TAC - FED oriented), and my last character is Klingon male. When it comes to choices, I kinda prefer female characters, because it is much nicer to look at them (or their asses better said ). Besides that, most of my boffs are females too. So what can I say, than that I very much like women.

My Fed is a Human male in his 50s.
My KDF is a Klingon male in his 30-40s.
My Romulan is a Romulan Female in her 20-30s.

I have other alts, but they are not really being played that much. So I focused on the main 3 "factions."

In canon, sex changes or even just the cosmetic appearance of gender is interchangeable...in TNG, the unisex uniform was also introduced. If you want your male character to wear Risa knickers, that's your choice!

I'm a Male and I currently have 44 characters - 25 Male and 19 Female.
Included in the 44 characters is at least one of every species in STO.

I prefer the female toons.
