This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Agreed. Played ISA earlier - two OP scimitards in the team; instance completed in one minute and 45 seconds. I don't consider that either fun or challenging, and it proves that T5-U scimitards are OP. They do NOT need a T6 version.

But what is it that makes scimitars so OP? CMDR Tac and 5 tac console ships are plenty, some can even slot more embassy cosnoles for the plasma explosion and FAWing is also a no brainer. The only thing unique to scimitars is the hangar pet - is the drone ship so OP?

    It's a combination of things.

The BOff layout, consoles, stats, Romulan BOff traits, Cloak/Decloak Ambush, general power creep, etc etc.

Looks like they are slowing releasing T6 "upgrades" of the T5 ships. Anyone want to guess as to when the Scim will get the upgrade to T6?

I hope, for the sake of the game, that never.

    Amen to that.

The drone ships are a major part of the problem. Other parts are the 5 tac, 8 weapon slot combo with access to BFAW and romulan battle cloak.
Aside from the battle cloak much of that can be found on the summer ferengi giveaway and that ship melts everything in it's path. Add Attack Pattern Alpha, de-cloak bonus and those seriously powerful drone ships and the Scimitar is bordering the absurd.

It'd be better if all scimitars just went boom ingame with no chance to use it afterwards.

The characterization of the Excelsior as a "museum piece" irritates me. You do remember that in the DS9 two-parter "Homefront"/"Paradise Lost", there was an Excelsior that was effectively a Refit or Retrofit? Which went toe to toe with the Defiant and fought it to an almost-stalemate?

It, unlike the Constitution, etc., was clearly still in use in that period. Which although it's an older design, makes it no less current than a Nebula, Galaxy, Defiant, D'Deridex, Vor'Cha, Negh'Var, or Akira.
Yeah, in the TOS movies era, the Excelsior design was a bleeding edge tech that had just barely had the prototype built. It was literally the newest design Starfleet had fielded.

In contrast the Constitution design that Kirk used in TOS was considered obsolete and worthy of little more than scrapping.

It went Toe to Toe with a ship that was designed to improve starbase defense over runabouts...

The Defiant class is not a powerful ship. It is for it's size - it's purpose is to swarm and harass and to shoot jem bugs and B'Rels. Having the Excelsior refitted to fight that thing to a stalemate is... not impressive.

@questerius and praxi5: Thanks for the clarification.

@angrytarg: you're welcome. While anyone should be able to play with whatever ship they like, the scimitar and the various associated play styles have progressed to the point that game play has stopped being fun for a large portion of the community.

2-4 minute ISA runs siphon the last bit of fun out of an already stale STF.

@westmetals: Do you realize that the Excelsior refit was scripted to give the resident hero ship (defiant) a credible opponent?

Well, sources suggest that a T6 Dreadnought bundle is in the works.

Looks like my time playing STO is coming to an end.

    Quick, release a Tier 6 Nova! ;)

    .

Wait, Tier 6 Ha'apax? That's the Rom Multi-Vector ship, not the Scimitard.

False Alert. Put the Novae back into storage.
