Broken hull materials

dartdukiidartdukii Member Posts: 22 Arc User
This happened after the sector space revamp patch. I reinstalled the entire game a few times, switched from Arc to Steam and standalone, back and forth. I'm on standalone now. I was hoping it would fix itself by now. Most, not all, but most hull options for all my ships are cluttered and weird. Happens on all toons (Fed, KDF, Reman), and all ships i have are affected. Ill just add screenies of my ships with various hulls since i cant help myself. As u can see from the pics some hulls are perfectly fine(30 pics). Toons affected are Dart_Dukii@dartdukii, Jolania_Truia@dartdukii and Bellona@

I've noticed that all those skins are also using one particular window type. The Jem Dread is using Windows 1, the Qib is using Fleet, and the Scimitar and Galaxy-X are using Windows 3. Are you seeing this behavior on all window configurations as well?

I admit I have no idea what could be causing that, but... still...

When you check this make sure to reset the Hull material.. On a lot of ships, when you change the Windows, it will change the hull.

Are you running any Consoles/Equipment that have visuals attached? ie: Jem Hadar Set. Reputation Sets?

To me it kinda looks like its applying a "Pattern" when you have none selected... Did you try changing all the patterns to an option and then changing them back?

    Just Spit-balling ideas.

My computer at home does the same thing. All the hull textures look exactly like yours. My computer is really old and well below minimum specs, and the graphics card in it was a *great* card - 8 years ago. Fire GL, great card for CADD workstations but was never optimised for games. Still has plenty of horsepower but the drivers are about 5 years old and there are no new ones. Anyway, unfortunately I think we're stuck with it, barring getting new hardware.

I need to post in a pic of my Dyson warbird - it really looks bad with this texture issue, almost like those old WW1 "dazzle" schemes they used on warships to try and confuse visual rangefinders.

I have thought of a GPU issue as well, but then i expect all textures to be affected, character visuals, system and sector space visuals. I have to repeat again. It happened on Thursday night, after the Sector space revamp. It was perfectly fine the hours before the maintenance. Ill have to check the windows thing. I haven't thought of that. Thanx for any info btw. Maybe its just time to buy a bag of new potatoes to run STO :)

U may be on to something here. Whenever i try to change windows my hull gets switched back to fleet, every time, no matter what hull i put in before. It always gets switched back to fleet hull. And no, all set visuals are disabled
