Starship Upgrade

I know I rarely visit the forums, (evident from my number of posts versus my member since date) so I apologize if this has already been raised. I also realize I posted this in Federation game play when it is meant for all factions but...

It would be nice if the starship upgrade token could be applied to ANY ship not just tier V. I.E. buy a token upgrade a tier I to a tier II etc.

In this upgrade the ship would also acquire one or more new weapons slots as well as consoles and the other already established improvements in the tier V to VI upgrades

It would be even better if this option was not just available in purchasing the tokens but also somehow available in the R&D system.

Anyhow, that's my two cents. :) Despite the number of people that continuously complain about the game not being the way they envision it should be, I love STO and wish to thank all those involved (including the other players) for everything that makes this game an enjoyable exit from reality and a chance to live in a beloved universe.

One major problem with that: T6 Connie
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

    For the record:

Fleet shipyards provide access to the "remainder" of the T2 & T3 "approved for T5" lineups, in both the "free" straight up T5 variant (costing 200k fleet credits and one shipyard provision) and the "pay for" T5.5 "fleet" variant (20k Fleet Creds, shipyard provision, and 4 Fleet Ship Modules, C-store and exchange to find...)

The level of your fleet's shipyard will determine exactly what ship(s) are available.

I know, for a fact, that the T2 Fed Sci (Rhode Island) and T3 Olympus are both represented. Fed T3 C-store Nebula had an existing T5 variant already. The T2 escort came up that way too, as the T3 (Aka Akira) was T5-itized with the Heavy Escort Carrier. From the Cruisers, the T3 C-store Excelsior was already at T5, the fleets added the Cheyenne/Stargazer 4 nacelle hulls - the T2 Connie Refit and kitbashed brethren were given the "no endgame variant" treatment and left out of the fleet yards.

Sadly(ish), the upgrade token only applies to the T5.5 "fleet" variant, all 200k FC ships were specifically excluded from the upgrade system. Therefore, while it can be expensive to get most any ship up to T5U levels, the majority of them can get there.

Exceptions based primarily on orders for CBS, or so I hear...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

If an upgrade token applied to both the fleet and regular versions of the ship, it would be fine. I found out the hard way, despite the patch notes saying that an upgrade token applies to both standard and fleet versions across all characters on the account, that if you upgrade a fleet ship, such as the Multi Vector Assault Escort, it applies to that character only. And you don't get the unlock for the standard version. To me, that is unacceptable.

    *EDIT*
Found out that they replied to my issue again after it was closed. It's a bug that I have to resubmit. For some reason, the notification didn't pop up like it did last time. I'm still a bit upset about it, but after months it might finally get resolved. T6 ships are here to stay. If they pull out a T7 in a year or two, most people are going to finally quit, especially since there's another Star Trek MMO coming out, even though it's on mobile.

I wouldn't mind if your reach Admiral Level 60 that you get one ship upgrade token. That would be very nice indeed. It would actually make the grind to Vice Admiral Level 60 even more enjoyable.

You can count me among those right now who will skip town when T7's hit. I don't mind the T6's THIS TIME. I am not grinding all eternity, and I am CERTAINLY NOT DUMPING $40 per ship for each that I already have. I have gotten bamboozled enough with the T5FU upgrades (and the F don't mean fleet), and I'm not buying even ONE upgrade for a T6 ship. If they try this cheap stunt again, I'm done.

    Yeah B)

Us flying Non-Starfleet, KDF/KDF-aligned/ Warbirds at endgame as members of these military organizations is not immersion breaking. Us flying a Kazon ship (KAZON. Think about that) is not immersion breaking. Us flying Species 8472 Bioships at endgame is not immersion breaking. Flying these ships does not defy the sense of Star Trek and these major military organizations.

But flying a Connie for proper endgame use? That was *THE Ship Class* of Star Trek for over 20 years until TNG came along? The ship class that starred in TOS and 6 movies? No, sir. We can't have that. We can't have you flying a Constitution-class at endgame but it's all good if you want to fly Ancient ENT era ships as well as 8472 Bioships.

If the Romulan T1 T'varo can have an upgradeable T5 retrofit version, then having the same thing for a Constitution should be no problem ;-)

Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.

I dare you to do better.
