Except, as some people have pointed out, it does contribute to the story. It contributes atmosphere and characterization - we learn something about these characters. We learn about who and how they love and how they express it, which is a fairly massive part of the makeup of a sentient being.

It's characterization - the thing that attaches the reader to a story.

    Again, 'Klingon Love'

Completely contradicts EVERYTHING we've ever seen about Klingon culture.

It can, but this wasn't a love story. TRIBBLE characters can exist in stories that are not love stories. TRIBBLE people do other things beside stand around being TRIBBLE at each other all day.

It helped flesh out two minor characters and give them a bit of personality. That was it's purpose in the story.

You probably should take back the post where you wholeheartedly agreed with the guy who said that it only exists to pander to us mindless "culture drones", then. Especially since he's kinda-sorta advocating for eugenics, now.

Clearly you don't know how to read so I'll just ignore that last bit.

"A thousand years ago, at the dawn of the Empire, five hundred warriors stormed the Great Hall at Qam-Chee. The city garrison fled before them. Only the Emperor Kahless, and the Lady Lukara stood their ground. It was here that they began the greatest romance in Klingon history."

Well, you said you didn't like eugenics, and then said you would do the exact dictionary definition of what eugenics is.

/another long rant on the various reasons why people don't breed for "desirable" traits because it's stupid and unscientific even before you bring up ethics goes here because I don't want to derail the thread with this mindbogglingly inane conversation anymore

Fighting to the death, not whining about me blowing a few Omega molecules and how bad it might hurt their lovers... The WAY it was portrayed contradicted Klingon culture. Honor and victory are more important.

    I disagree.

And as others have pointed out, it doesn't lend anything to the story. Learning the characters shoe size, favorite food, where they grew up, what sports they like etc. is also characterization.

Something like this is a little more important a subject, which I personally believe deserves more of a central focus in a story (or stories).

So would saying what province they grew up in and how big their family is. So would saying what their favorite movie is.

... So what's wrong with using their relationship and the way they love as the choice for how to characterize them instead of their home province?

LGBT people get to be in stories that aren't about LGBT issues. The argument is bigoted because it limits the kinds of stories people like me can be in.

I said I'd do whatever was best for society, but it would be my choice to do so not forced. This is the key difference here. Your saying that politicians strategically placing abortion clinics around low-income/ education areas isn't a form of eugenics? And yet we allow it.

Not all eugenics were forced. Plenty of people willingly and wholeheartedly tried to do just that in the name of eugenics. It was already wrong for a number of reasons - scientifically unsound doesn't even begin to describe it - before you factor in the even uglier side of forced sterilizations and other atrocities.

Now, quit. I would like to participate in at least one thread on this forum that doesn't get locked.

You really just want to veer this thread off into some kind of far-right AM radio la-la land, don't you? No dice, not biting.

    A really nice episode.

What should be bothering people about the relationship in question, is not that it is same sex, but that such things have not been in previous stories in the game. Making npc's more real by adding personal information should be more common. These can not be the only characters in this game with romantic interests, families are still important, as is romance. Dont believe that, think of picard and his brother, janeway and her holodeck program, Worf, Riker, Luxwanna, etc. Many of these people should have ones they care about, and it is not right that this is the first time we are encountering a couple, or even mention of, Paris mentions his wife, but we arent even sure if she is alive (or am i forgetting?).

If your problem with the coupling is just about the same sex aspect of it, yes you are a bigot.

I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.
