You are right, I forgot about the one BOFF ability. The Hull advantage is negliglable I think, at least in the state of the game. 3-6k hull are more or less a second of survivability, against NPCs that when they kill you do so with 100k damage crits it's basically nothing
Still, I think T5U is not far off, except being unable to grind out a trait, but this depends heavily on playstyle. My FT5U Nebula is still my hardest hitting ship in the fleet and probably the one I enjoy most
I don't know for sure, but the T6 command battlecruisers feel like they take a hit far better than my FT5U Excel ever did, and I keep forgetting to use the featured command abilities ( not the cruiser ones).
it IS a MMO RPG because we the trek fans kinda want it to be.
there is a KDF science ship, but there is no KLINGON science ship readily available.
Lockbox... ok, I got the Korath.. it's not to bad.. t5u barely..definitely the low end of the t5u ships. Doesn't look real Klingon to me though I must admit the all red hull is spectacular....technically it is a Klingon ship. but its a real TRIBBLE shoot to get one. I take it out to play once in a while. The problem with the Korath is it doesn't feel or fight or fly like a Klingon ship. Something as simple as changing its weapons to a 4/2 layout instead of 3/3.. it really is a fed sci ship in a kinda klingon skin.
My SCI captain flies a fleet refit Tor'Kaht upgrade.. Love my ship. but I have always wanted a propper Klingon science ship.

And I am not alone in wanting better.
At this rate, we'll be able to get a "What's your beef with the Galaxy, Cryptic" style thread going for Klingon Science ships!
A dedicated science ship has a commander and lt commander science arrangement with usually a Lt and Ens Engi and an Lt Tac. Some swap the Lt Commander around with tac and science. The point is the captain traits. They don't mesh well with an "escort" (4/3) very well at all. There's no science seats for the synergy to happen. They generally don't mesh well with a cruiser for the same reason. Science is all about exotics. You need a ship that can seat exotics.
The same doesn't hold true for an engineer. A bonus to hull healing also can use science seats. They can do well in a science ship. They can tank well in a science ship. A tactical in anything does well. There's no getting around APA/GDF trumps all. Doesn't matter what ship they are in. The traits also. Doesn't matter what ship they are in. They affect all damage.
They saying always kicked around here that "On the ground you are your captain, in space you are your ship" is not very true. Your traits in space affect what you do well. Science traits in an escort that has no seats for exotics are like teats on a bull. Tactical traits in a science ship are like a fire-breathing rhino rampaging in a china factory that also sells paper goods.
I can be a gimped science ship captain or a gimped cruiser/escort captain. Delude yourselves all you want with the "in space you are your ship" but get your buddies together with a tac, a sci, and an engi in the same ship with the same build and parse a solo of some punching bag foundry mission. Do it in all 3 types of ships.
This game is about DPS. You can't reach your potential without synergy. Gimped is gimped. Rose colored glasses don't change anything. You are just gimped in shades of pink.
Oh Jesus god no. We do not need mommy TRIBBLE coming to sto.

I think that we won't get a T6 Sci ship until Cryptic try to replicate the success of the Wells / Korath / Rom thing .
Another path for Cryptic to take would be a Sci Spec Tree , which then could be supplemented with Sci ships .
I've always tried to treat my two KDF Sci's well (Jemmy Dred / Korath / Krenn) , but ultimately , I never got on the "must use exotics all the time 'cuz I'm a Sci " train .
It's sometimes fun , but over the years I've had just as much fun with whips with Lt.Com Sci , as I did with pure Sci ships , which as Battycoda said , are gimped in the pew .
... sometimes ridiculously so ... , looking at you D'Kyr ...
Orion and Gorn? It may have been claimed that there are no more Klingon Science Ships, but if there are (to be) more KDF-aligned Science Ships, that ought to solve the problem. Generally, Klingons aren't Scientists, they're Warriors; best suited to Raiders, Escorts and Cruisers.

yeah, gorn cigar ship, if it has a 2nd deflector and science-target-lock, then it would be passable

I can understand being irritated, my guy is kdf sci too, but give it some time and let your calmer heads prevail
faction differences are nice (kdf/fed/rom) and from time to time they will get it wrong
there are options, expensive, but they are there, lockbox ships etc, existing ships, and so on
I think it's part of a larger trend, they don't seem to want to make a sci ship at all really
whatever, all we can do is roll with it

I'm not sure what you are saying. The double negative is confusing me.

Is that a Spin-off of Fifty Shades of Grey?

Have you been to Drozana, the Risa cave or any other number of places? It's been here for ages

supposedly t5u has 5 sci console spots, that's pretty good, it rivals the palisade
and the mastery isn't bad either
Enhanced Particel Generators: Grants +15% Damage to Exotic Damage abilities
Advanced shield Systems: +10% Shield Hitpoints
Enhanced Restorative Circuitry: Improves Hull healing abilities by 10% Improves Shield healing abilities by 10%
Auxiliary Power Infusers: +5% Auxiliary Power Setting
but the OP mentioned future ships
only, time will tell, but I'd imagine the orion and the gorn have a few more ships in them, one would hope
