I cant see this, nowhere in the news blog does it say nog`s Chimera is a T6 variant, also what about the Peghqu' and the Daeinos they would need to be T6 also for the lifetime bundle.
no, cryptic had ample opportunity to bring these up to T6 from day 1 and they chose just to give a free T5U upgrade, I think that says it all.
The argument can be had about the Galaxy (as well as the other ships that had a T5U getting a T6 variant) being T5U (although not free upgrade), then getting a Tier 6 variant (namely the Andromeda class). So, while it may not actually state that the U.S.S. Chimera is a Tier 6 ship, it doesn't say that it isn't a Tier 6 ship. Only time will tell what the ship is either way.
If you want to get even more technical: the JHAS had a free T5U upgrade and then the JHSS was released, which is a variant of the JHAS but it is Tier 6. Just because Cryptic had the opportunity at the beginning to release a Tier 6 variant of the Veteran ships, it doesn't mean that they had to right at the start of Delta Rising especially with the T5U upgrade being free. Also, there's no official comment why the Developers didn't make a Tier 6 variant of the Veteran ships. All "comments" regarding the absence of such ships have purely been speculation without any proof.
So what? Are you implying that the first Ferengi in Starfleet is somehow going to succumb to the general cultural norms of his people? That's incredibly..... narrow-minded thinking there, buddy. Especially considering that Nog proved time and again he was anything but your typical Ferengi.
How? Oh I don't know. Maybe the fact that he was an exemplary star fleet officer in his younger days and we can only imagine how he progressed as he got older. Why are you surprised that he got the command? Because he's a ferengi? Because he's short? What makes it so shocking?
OK,let me explain, my incredulity was NOT that he was a captain,I'd always hated the "human starfleet and token rubber forehead alien" thing.I'd always hoped he'd be a captain, its just that I thought he would get something like maybe a galaxy class or something. What I did not expect was that he would be given command of one of the (canonically) most prestigious starships right off the bat. That is,assuming the USS Chimera IS a chimera destroyer.

Able command officers seem extremely hard to find these days. Rumor has it they even give top-of-the-line battleships mto people who have been in Starfleet for less than two years.

The USS Chimera (NCC-63718) is a Centaur class starship formerly serving in Task Force 72-C.
The Centaur has proven itself effective at border patrol and anti-pirate activities, and more recently in the Cardassian and Dominion wars as a fast attack ship. It has also proven itself effective in convoy harassment and raids, being able to use its manoeuvrability and speed to perform hit and run attacks and take minimal damage itself.
Just so you know, the stipend for LTS/gold subscriptions is 500 Zen per month. That is not enough for a Tier 6 ship. It is enough for a fleet ship module, though.
Entitlement, in this case, is non-existent. Veterans do deserve something like a Tier 6 Veteran ship. With that being said, I will say that I am half-excepting a new ship to be released, but I know that's unlikely to happen.
Perhaps, you shouldn't call people wanting a new ship "entitled" since it is still only speculation.
I disagree, veterans deserve nothing and I say that speaking as a veteran myself, weather players attained veteran status by buying LTS or by subbing monthly we got all that we paid for.
sure it would be nice if that added some extras to the vet rewards especially if it was a T6 ship but I don't expect it.
having said that I am surprised they did not add a T6 ship if only to make the package more attractive to prospective buyers but LTS are still selling without it apparently so maybe they figure for a few extra LTS payments it might bring in its not worth it.
I`m not really too bothered myself, I got the first T6 ship pack for free with stipend and a little converted dil and I also got the T6 event ships so I have plenty to be going on with and I still enjoy flying the T5U vet ships from time to time.
and I will say again where in the news blog does it say nogs ship is a T6?
in fact it doesn't even say the ship is a Chimera just that this is the name of his ship.

Edit: I stand corrected... What kind of blind morons voted in that contest that we ended up with the Chimera and Odyssey!?! Although I'll partially blame it on Cryptic's 3D modeing work, at-least for the Chimera.
Well to be honest the contest was done soooo poorly, that votes didn't matter. I had a friend who was in like 3rd place with the public voting and in the end Cryptic and CBS did what they wanted and choose the winners, which included the 2nd and 3rd places which were actually much lower in the public voting.

doesn't matter what ships were T5U and got a T6 variant the Chimera is part of a bundle for lifetime & monthly subs, if they upgrade that to T6 they would need to upgrade the others from the bundle.
Chimera is for feds but some players might not have feds only kdf or only rom so it would be unfair to release a T6 Chimera for feds without the release of a T6 Peghqu' for kdf and a T6 Daeinos for roms.
just the same as when they gave these ships a free T5U upgrade, can you imagine the outcry if only the Chimera got the free upgrade to T5U.

I don't see how wanting the vet ship upgraded to T6 is a form of "veterans entitlement". I would like to see it as a T6 ship, mainly because its a unique vessel type (destroyer) and theres no reason for it not to be. For all I care, sell it i the Zstore.

Not necessarily, there were Starships that did have the name of another class of Starship but werent the first of that class, one example being the Intrepid.
LOLwut? Those 2 ships you guys listed, USS Intrepid and Defiant, are Constitution-class Cruisers. There was no Intrepid-class as we know it, no Defiant-class as we know it when the Constitution-class were at their prime!
In the links you guys provided, these 2 Constitution-class ships were lost (Intrepid) or missing (Defiant). With the loss of the 2 ships, the names "Intrepid"and "Defiant" are then removed from the Naval List / Naval Register and are then free to use in a subsequent ship. Fast forward 100 years or so and the Intrepid & Defiant-class ships that we know are in service.
A real life example is the US Navy's use of "Alabama." There have been several ships named USS Alabama over the course of the service's history. What about USS Enterprise in the US Navy? Or Star Trek's own use of the name, "Enterprise?" Notice that the name was never used at the same time an existing vessel of the same name existed. There was no new Enterprise until the previous, existing one was decommissioned or destroyed, which then frees up the name in Starfleet's list.

problem is if they just upgrade the Chimera and just stuck on the c-store all the vets out there will be screaming blue murder that an item that is supposed to be representing their contribution in subs is being sold to all and I would be one of them.

no party will ever be happy with any decision and that's the one disagreement we can all agree on.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF THEY UPDATED THE VET SHIP TO BE T6...
But if not thats cool too, depends on how much LTS actually brings in the money tho... maybe they found out that people be buying non canon ships regardless and LTS isnt worth pushing anymore
like I have said before, they had the perfect opportunity to update the LTS ships to T6 when they first brought in T6 ships in the first place, I`m afraid that ship sailed when they give us the T5U upgrades on them for free instead.
if they ever do give vets a free T6 ship in the far distant future I think its more likely to be a single any faction ship that will be of a completely new design.

I wouldn't care that it's available in the C-Store so long as I can get it for free...
...where I still wouldn't fly it because of the damn pot-belly.
My KDF and Roms might, but the Chimera is not-pretty.
but if it was in the c-store you wouldn't get it for free you would have to buy it like everyone else.
the whole point of the current vet ships is they would only be for vets, if they made a T6 version they could put it in the c-store without effecting the status of the T5U version, if they put it in the c-store but also made the current vet version T6 it would not be unique to vets anymore.
having said all that I don't think they will do either, i have read, reread and reread the post again and I still don't see how anyone comes to the conclusion that the news article that spawned this thread indicates anything to do with the Chimera being upgraded to T6, or for that matter anything to do with vets.

Eh, just because it's on the C-Store doesn't mean we have to pay to unlock it, lots of the Promos are rewarded on the C-Store. The Ambassador class was also unlocked on the C-Store during the initial event (there are two versions on different tiers, one's a box from the mission, the other was a C-Store unlock).
Placing a bet on T6 Defiant right there. Doomed to happen at some point: with the Pilot tree that has just been expanded, it makes sense.
Entitlement for T6 vet ship is strong lol.
...I'd say this makes the T6 defiant very, very unlikely. (in the very near future)
Just happened: 3 pilot escorts Might happen here: t6 veteran escort (no way in hell that cryptic is going to shut the door on a T6 chimera refit just to appropriate its cool name to another recently launched ship).
So what then is the point of a T6 defiant? Might as well save it for the next specialization type (always was prided in firepower and durability, maneuverability was just part of the background SFX) and release something else, like the revamped sovereign class that they've been using as the background for arc since S10 started.

I would think if its for vets only as it should be it would be simply added to the ship requisition NPC like the other vet ships were, I was under the impression that the OP was suggesting it would be in the c-store to buy for non vets or free for vets.
that's assuming of course that its a vet ship at all as this thread suggests.

Sovereign Class on Promo Page - T6 Sovereign
Remains to be seen, though there is nothing that really supports this. There was/is speculation that the image is that of a refit Sovvie, but the ship in the picture isn't at a good angle to ascertain that.
If you've spent any meaningful time with the in-game model it should be very, very, very, very, very, very obvious that the model in the promo page is NOT what is currently being used. Just head to the shipyard yourself, the phase "the whole thing except for general shape" is the scale of the modifications. Hull, saucer, pylons, nacelles, decals, its all been changed. I'll also say that the underside is a very fine angle from which to approach this because that's where some of the worst inconsistencies are.
Nog Commanding the USS Chimera = T6 Vet Ship
No evidence to support this. And, further to the above, not really safe to assume that new guest star character = new ship. We did not, for example, get a T6 Nova class when Harry Kim appeared.
No but the only "evidence" there can with this subject be is a ship release. What's left is possibilities and a T6 vet ship has been requested for some time (unlike the T6 nova class, you're the first I've seen to bring it up) is a reasonable possibility. You may try to poo-poo that by saying "well we don't know for sure yet" but that's an obvious point that doesn't further discussion. No one here (at least as far as I've read) is saying that it will happen but there a better chance now than, say, a month ago that a T6 vet ship might happen (given the opportunity that a high profile in-game USS chimera provides PR.)
The point, which I hope you pay attention to, of conjecture isn't to find facts but to sort possibilities (see. why philosophy isn't science.) Here we have new information leading to new speculation. That won't ever lead to certainties (except among the very deluded), but it could help adjust expectations for when facts do arrive.

well I guess this argument is resolved, if nog is flying the veteran ship and it is a chimera then it is a T5 vessal as we now know the veteran T6 ship is a Manticore and not a chimera.

Might happen here: t6 veteran escort (no way in hell that cryptic is going to shut the door on a T6 chimera refit just to appropriate its cool name to another recently launched ship).

When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
