Not necessarily, there were Starships that did have the name of another class of Starship but werent the first of that class, one example being the Intrepid.
I need to get to him. I can't just leave him out there alone. - Sometimes you've got to makes sacrifices, Lara. You can't save everyone. - I know about sacrifices. - No, you know about loss. Sacrifice is a choice you make. Loss is a choice made for you. - I can't choose to let him die, Roth.
Although Nog commanding a Chimera would make scene, they are both Ugly.
It's subjective, but the Defiant is canon and overall is liked way more than the Chimera. Still placing my bet on it.

To be honest, whilst I have no doubt it will happen, it's a shame that the oportunity wasn't taken to link Nog with a new T6 Tactical escort.
We still don't know that, but I have my EC bet on it.

It would be nice to see T6 version of the Vet ships but I highly doubt it. Especially considering they get a free upgrade to T5U.
Although I would hope at one point a T6 vet ship (possibly a different class) would be introduced. Maybe a science ship, we need more of those in-game, at least for the Romulans and KDF.
I'm hoping it's a sign of a T6 Chimera, but I wouldn't bet on it. Hell, it could be a XXXXX-B U.S.S. Chimera that is of a new starship class for all we know. But whatever it is, IMHO it is very intriguing to say the least.
I'm wondering more on the lines of what role Nog is playing in the current events. Assuming he's not just a mere contact for your character during missions...
The only things I dislike about the chimera as it stands are the uber sized deflector (not the hull, the deflector itself) and the goofy nacelles.
The chimera has always struck me as having the potential to be a pretty nice platform for a flight deck cruiser or light carrier that sacrifices toughness for agility (compared to other, bigger, carriers). Extend the back of the secondary hull to lengthen it, swap out the ubersized deflector for something more excelsior/sovereign-esque et voila, you have a nice big space for a huge hangar deck at the bottom of the secondary hull that runs bow to stern.
A t6 veteran ship would be a nice bone tossed out, even though years ago they said nothing else for veteran rewards, which...is ....silly....
This is only game ive ever played where the vets get the middle finger for putting faith support and wallets down for the company.
LTS entitlement is strong in this post. Basically you get a stipend that gives you the equivalent of 2 T6 C Store ships, bank slots, inventory slots, a free ship for every character and other goodies I can't even come up with right now. Seriously?

95% of this thread is off topic. But I am annoyed that the OP thinks the helmsman of the Defiant during the Dominion war is somehow unqualified to captain a ship of his own. Nog grew leaps and bounds. Unfortunately , there are racial stereotypes with the Ferengi , even Startrek perpetuated them , but Armin , Arron and the rest gave true depth beyond the one dimensional Next Generation Ferengi.

Just so you know, the stipend for LTS/gold subscriptions is 500 Zen per month. That is not enough for a Tier 6 ship. It is enough for a fleet ship module, though.
Entitlement, in this case, is non-existent. Veterans do deserve something like a Tier 6 Veteran ship. With that being said, I will say that I am half-excepting a new ship to be released, but I know that's unlikely to happen.
Perhaps, you shouldn't call people wanting a new ship "entitled" since it is still only speculation.

I guess they mean in 12 months we get 6000 zen so every year can buy 2 ships.

Despite the fact that he was in the command track as stated as one of his main goals and when he was shown in the Visitor, he was a starship commander. If Tom Paris, Science Officer Janeway, Engineer La Forge, Operations Officer Data, and Medical Officer Beverly Crusher can all go command, why not Nog. Deanna Troi was even a bridge officer qualified officer with a whole TNG episode devoted to it.
Tier 6 Chimera, no thank you, Sorry Cryptic but when it comes to designing originally Starfleet vessels you guys kinda suck at it. Plus there are more ships more deserving of Tier 6 status than this one.
Yes you guessed it i want more cannon ships made tier 6 I like to fly the ships from the shows, makes this single player, shooter, combat, online game feel more trek rather than ugly bricks in space using a iconic i.p to make money.
I don't just want them for the feds but for the klingons and romulans as well although a tier 6 Scimitar might be over over kill.
Tier 6 BOP
Tier 6 Vorcha (Fleet version is a dam fine ship but TIER 6)
Tier 6 Mogai.
Oh and Dev's throw that dam no kitbash ships reasoning of yours to the trash and add the New Orleans to the game.
I'd love to get a T6 Chimera. Been the ship I've flied almost exclusively (99,9% of my time) since I got my LTS, after like a month of playing. The fact that currently it's 'just' T5-U makes me saaaad. Crossing my fingers.

Well technically it isn't *their* design...it was the runner up for the design the next Enterprise contest they held.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

Um, I don't think so dude.
I'm pretty sure a Bassett Hound and an Andorian vibrator had a love child.
Edit: I stand corrected... What kind of blind morons voted in that contest that we ended up with the Chimera and Odyssey!?! Although I'll partially blame it on Cryptic's 3D modeing work, at-least for the Chimera.

The idea was to make something new, not just a re-tread of what's been done in the TV show. The Chimera is definitely new. :P
If I had to venture a guess it would be the new revamp T6 Galaxy Class I believe that would make the most sense! My second guess is the Guardian Class.
I asked on facebook but no one responded to my question. I guess we will have to wait til next week for the new featured episode to find out. I am taking the assumption that Nog is the guest star for the episode.

How many times are you going to use that same remark in this thread and any other thread that involves ...well anything.
Yes seriously, I can name a handful of games where veteran rewards are an ongoing nice thing to acknowledge veterans...by your lack of reasoning or whatever, you're basically saying we shouldn't support veterans day in America anymore. Because of entitlement....

jeez
Namely games that in their inner self cost more than a retail game/have a huge disparity between players, that goes way beyond the LTS status. Why should STO follow the bad example of these MMOs? Just cut with pretending more LTS content because five, four, three, two or one year ago you decided it was worth it. You got what you paid for.
The "Veteran" is a formality made for gratifying the buyer. If you think you can call yourself "veteran" in the true sense of the word because of LTS... Oh god not even going to finish the sentence.

How on earth did NOG of all people manage to get it!?
How? Oh I don't know. Maybe the fact that he was an exemplary star fleet officer in his younger days and we can only imagine how he progressed as he got older. Why are you surprised that he got the command? Because he's a ferengi? Because he's short? What makes it so shocking?

Name another game that costs 2 years of a sub , for a life time of rewards. You're also way off base comparing actual work and achievments to playing a video game. I have nothing wrong with the idea of veteran rewards , would you be willing to give up your stipend for that reward? Doubt it.
I cant see this, nowhere in the news blog does it say nog`s Chimera is a T6 variant, also what about the Peghqu' and the Daeinos they would need to be T6 also for the lifetime bundle.
no, cryptic had ample opportunity to bring these up to T6 from day 1 and they chose just to give a free T5U upgrade, I think that says it all.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

Aren't all non-canon Federation ships in this game. Well except for the Sao Paulo. :P
