Unable to RE-equip Romulan Imperial Navy Kit

Short story:

My Romulan Imperial Navy Engineering Kit MK XII refuses to re-equip after I removed it.
It refuses to admit that I am in fact an Engineering Officer.

- I was attempting to equip a new Iconian rep module on my Romulan Imperial Navy Engineering Kit, and I was unable to remove any modules from the kit.
- I then removed the kit itself to inventory, and was unable to re-equip it.
- The Kit is grayed-out in inventory while viewing my character page.
- Upon equip, it says "you do not meet requirements for this item"
- Viewing the tooltip for the Kit, it says "Engineering Officer" in red, so that is apparently where it thinks I "do not qualify".
- I AM able to equip other engineering kits, (green quality tested so far, afraid to do much more)
- I have rebooted and restarted the game multiple times, with same result.
- My expensive modules are stuck in a kit I can't access, so I have no kit abilities currently.

Did I lose my Engineer's License? ;)

Any assistance is greatly appreciated, I don't want to miss out on the current Dilithium Bonus Week, and what is an engineer without his kit modules?! :)

    Addendum:

OK, I finally got it to load.

I started a new "Uneasy allies" mission, to get a second one to see if it behaved the same way, and as soon as I landed on the freighter, I was able to equip it again.

I will not be removing this kit again until I hear from you folks, but for now I am at least playing the game again.

There's a bug that prevents you to equip kits and modules while in space. It works on ground only now.

That might be it, but I was pretty sure I tried it on ESD as well as in space.

    Thanks for the info. o7
