Old ships and new players

Ive been playing sto for some time now, but never on a permanent basis until now.
Looking at the sto gamepedia ive seen all these great ships that i can no longer get, i even missed the T6 carrier, and being a carrier lover i missed the only T6 one.
I can understand that having exclusive ships can be fun but for all the new players i becomes somewhat frustrating knowing that you cant get them at all.
there are examples of free ships like the obelisk carrier, the dyson ship that were rewarded and even trhat ended and became paid ships too.
i know that the game needs income to survive, i myself have paid for both ships and zen but some ships from specific events are no longer on my reach.
i would like the community opinion on having a permanent event where a substancial amount of dilitium, currency from a ramdon daily quest, lets say 3 months worth of doing a daily, maybe even a set amount of marks from the different factions, only 1 event would be possible at each time.
this would give f2p players something to work for, they could work for a ship that didnt cost older players nothing except some grinding wish these new players would do alot more but by doing so, be able to enjoy some cool ships from past events.
your imput would be great.

Perhaps at the anniversary event, or maybe in about September/October (the time between Summer and Xmas events)
They should add a daily mission, that rewards a choice of items (40 of either Pearls, Q pics or Qmendations) and all previous ship reward projects are available (Including the Obelisk & T5 Ambassador)
Just so people could get the ships they have missed. There's money to be made here too, as they could re-activate the lobi -> Pears/Pics/Qmendations conversion box
You can acquire the breen carrier from dec 5 2015. (It seems Cryptic doesn't recycle only the grindversary ships.)

i'm not seeing alot off them around in sts's etc.
it's like the patrol ships, don't seem anymore.
shame really as I play with friends with T1 ships.
I've been here since launch and there's plenty of ships I missed the chance to get or don't have. But I don't expect them to be handed to me.
The exclusiveness of having ships like the Risian corvette or the Breen ships is part of their appeal. Those players who have one earned it.
I've got a blue nanopulse bat'leth from an early winter event and I love that few other players have one, because it's a fun way for me to show I was there.
Asking for limited time rewards after the time ends is like asking for a 2008 graduation ring when you graduated in another class. You weren't part of that group so you missed that one. And it's okay.
Re: the Summer Event, my beef is with the fact that we'd previously been allowed (implicitly encouraged, even?) to overstock on seasonal currencies to get the things we'd missed out on earlier. It's the speedy about-face that irks me.
I think the issue is more that one of those ships (T6 breen carrier) doesn't have an appropriate analog yet in the c-store. If I start a character now who could really use that type of ship I'm basically out of luck, there's no hope of eventually grinding my way up to a purchase because the commodity just doesn't exist in the game proper (nor is it likely to exist this winter given the policies this summer).
This could be rectified by making old ships (ie. the breen carrier) accessible in some way or another....or cryptic could get their **** together and fill in the remaining content gaps in the T6 shipyard (T6 romulan sci vessel and T6 KDF carrier woud probably do it.)

The fact you could slot old projects and overstock on pearls was something that existed. Being able to claim old ships because you got extra currency was there as a reward. No one said "you must do this," but it was a reward that was there for the earning. Now that option has been taken away.

No, probably not, but on the topic of reasonable, perhaps a reward that's been left an entire year to motivate players to look forward to, then be permanently stripped a month early without a season's notice ("work for the ships now for existing players or it's gone forever") is anything but reasonable.
Otherwise, I agree, I wasn't here for the free Odyssey, or free Dyson ship, and had very poor ship gear & game resources during 2014 Risa to worry about those ships then and there, so now there's no point to buy the Rom Dysons given that one console for the set's locked in a lobi store for a T5 class that's clearly not even being considered "competitive" anymore.
It's one thing to miss out on ships because you weren't there, but it's another to use them to motivate and reward game-play and make it fun for you and friends, and then take that specific item away last minute without a season's notice, or without prior notice before the end of the event to 'queue it up or lose it permanently.'
Sure, they've got to make room for the new T6 Pilot ships so we can test out the abilities before considering 12,0000 zen packs. Does spending more gaming time to obtain clearly uncompetitive T5U ships somehow detract from it? Was that the case when the T6 Sarr Theln during the last Winter event was introduced?
This was never the case with the Anniversary ships, I'm moderately upset about that, but has ALWAYS been the case with the summer/winter events. During the winter event I was leveling 4 toons, and got all three Breen ships on 11 characters during the event, something I was very happy to do. Now I hold little to no hope of getting a Sarr Theln on my Delta Recruit or any other of the winter ships...
Not to mention the Kobali Cruiser, another ship which was made available for a short time with no methods to get one now, Lobi or otherwise, I have no hope of getting one of those beasties for my Recruit. :mad:
Suffice it to say, I have no intentions of EVER making any new characters should this disturbing trend continue.
I'd love having a Reputation project to claim these ships, even if they are restricted to players who have already claimed said ships during the events, this would allow players to gear-up their alts and reclaim dismissed ships from events.
The lobi store prices are beyond extortionate, especially for the old free ships. Putting a ship there is as good as removing it from the game in my opinion.

Another red and white Corvette! If I wasn't working on my DR my Warp 5 would be cruising the revamped sector space.
It's always nice to see Corvettes as they are rarely the boring "I'm edgy so I use all dark materials!" ships everyone else flies.
Yeah I love this little boat, and I use it all the time too. Got her kitted out with a loadout for battle, a loadout to maximize sector speed, and working on one for in system speed. She is fast and tough.
As for the paintjob a Corvette should grab attention, not hide from it. Although I have to admit, Chevys Corvettes have sucked from 1971 on. Older ones rock though.

FYI, Lohlnat Pearls have been retired and will no longer be a valid currency for the 2015 Risa Summer Event. You can trade in your left over Pearls for some consolation prizes....

Last year was my first summer festival. I got the cruiser, but not the corvette because I don't fly escorts. But I didn't fully understand set bonuses and moving consoles around different ships so I was getting ready to pick up the corvette I missed out on and the new ship this year, so I could catch up and have the full set. I have a head star from last year, and I'm ready to put in the effort.
And they just pulled the rug out from under me. At this point...I'm depressed. Why even bother doing the summer festival now? If I miss this years ship, it's going to leave a huge hole in my Risan set. If I -DO- do it, that hole will still be there. Over the winter festival, I ran three alts to catch up on the previous years and got all three ships. I brought a friend into STO, brand new to the game, who was excited to do the same thing this festival. Now I have to break the news to her that she can't do it.
I don't want to play anymore, and she probably won't either. If this doesn't change, I'll probably spend my summer over in Neverwinter, whatever they're doing. Never done the neverwinter summer festival before.
Which frankly should have only ever been the real currency. Yes ST;VOY made a big deal about constraining replicator credits as they steamed by energy ball after energy ball of raw resource.
Honestly, a few things have irked me over the last five+ years, on at least one occasion truly pissed me off.
But this is the first thing they've done that has truly rattled me.
I never liked the proliferation of currencies (especially since the number of them exploded almost immediately after we were told they wanted to reduce the number of currencies), but I had confidence they were (by they very definition of a currency) *dependable*.
PWE has the right - we agreed in the TOS - to do what they will with their property. We're just leasing viewing rights. Now that they are flexing that muscle, I think I'll ease up on the muscle I own that opens up my wallet.

This is why they should let us get the old consoles one way or another -- as a project using the new pearls, in the summer store, or in the lobi store.
