The new pilot ships were a perfect opportunity for Cryptic to finally introduce T6 Birds of Prey. Instead we got more Raptors. Any chance we're ever going to get a T6 BoP?
Read the blog on making of the new pilot ships.. they sort of address this.

"Klingons were a little harder to pin down. Some of us gravitated toward having a Bird-of-Prey for the Pilot ship, but this wasnt a great fit as they arent quite analogous to Escorts. Birds-of-Prey really are their own beast. For this reason we decided that the Klingon ship category should really be a Raptor."
Given the raider bonus and the universal console lay out of BOP's I can see why they said this. I'm sure the BOP will come out with a new "iconic" ship bundle.

If the Raptors had a battle cloak and raider flanking, they would BE BoP's in all but name. They're maneuverable, small and with one mission reward console, turns better than my Fleet B'Rel,...
The only thing really lacking, as noted, is the battle cloak and raider flanking. I am no longer pining away for a T6 BoP. Will I buy it if released, probably. Right Along with a T6 Defiant and T6 T'Varo,... but as far as I am concerned, no rush.

only time will tell.
I'm telling you, from my personal experience flying the thing, the only things missing from the Raptors that BoP's have, aside from universal Boff seating, is battle cloak and raider flanking. All else, performance wise, is just like flying my B'Rel.

I suspect what we will see next is an Iconic Tactical Pack featuring a T-6 B'Rel, Defiant, and T'Varo, thus rounding out the holy trinity for each faction.
T6bop..can't wait..as much as I'd like it to have manuevers (in fact would be nice for all ships as it's solo much fun...love my pilot ship) it would go against how the other specialised ship releases have gone and would undermine them.
However I'm guessing its likely the bops will have universal and hybrid boff stations so it can at least use pilot boff skills.

I will be all over that in a heartbeat. In fact, I'm already saving Dil/Zen/$ for it. Those are my three favorite ships. Until the pilot ships, I used the Fleet T5-U of each of those. I will hang on to them not matter what.

I agree, I would like to see a T6 Defiant/B'rel/T'varo pack and I might just get that pack myself if it did hit.
I would prefer even more a T6 pilot Akira/Hegh'ta/Mogai pack.
The Akira, Hegh'ta, Mogai pack sounds really good. I sort of kind of agree with the concept bops are their own beast so I wouldn't exactly view them as pilot ships. I think what Cryptic is most likely to do is make another category/specialization that more fits bops and heavy type smaller craft like these. Although I am not sure where raptors fitted into all of this though being they usually were much larger than the pilot based ships.
Raptors as the pilot ships were a no-brainer from day 1, they are and always have been the closest analogue to fed escorts. So just like the last few ship packs cryptic could use that with as little stat differences between the factions as possible.
But as with the pathfinder gaining intel, and the iconic pack, its also a no brainer that a BoP should be the next kdf pilot ship. the only issue is rommies and feds have no close analogue to the BoP line, rommies have battle cloaks, feds have A raider, neither have full universal boff stations.
Which leaves cryptic with three choices
A: Make a standalone BoP release
B: Release a ship pack where the factions ships are not stat clones of each other with minor tweaks
C: Give the rommies and Feds a BoP with minor stat tweaks to make them faction flavoured.
Pilot BoP's just don't make much sense to me.
They are hit and run craft, they are not meant for dogfighting in a sustained firefight.
If anything we need an Intel BoP, as that fits more thematically with BoP's being able to hit fast and hit hard and slip back into cloak preparing for another attack.

Most likely there will be another specialization grind coming it'll be raider ones and federation and romulan characters can unlocked the specialization if they get something from a lockbox which will entail some new alien lockbox that will give them iconian raiders or something to that nature lol. So in the end they will claim they did something for the KDF which will the bops/KDF on par with the other factions as of season 7 but will still be behind as of season 10/DR.

I think a stand alone release makes the most amount of sense, because it means only KDF will buy it and even then not by much, no matter how much we cry about the lack of T6 BoP representation we're just a handful who bother posting here. And so Geko can then go on P1 and claim 'See??? We tried to be the good guys but we lost money making it.'
It'll be a T6 B'Rel, when someone asks 'hey what about the K'vort' Geko will then rebut 'Lol isn't that the size of the Death Star? LOL BIRD OF PREY SIZE OF SMALL MOON HAHA WHAT' and then go onto the next question.

I don't think that makes sense. The next specialisation grind that will come out is fleshing out the commando tree, which will be ground-only I bet like pilot is space-only. I really doubt they'd make a whole new spec tree for one type of ship which is only represented by KDF.
Yeah, I concur that Commando will be the next thing. It'll be fleshed out to a full 30 spec tree like what happened with Pilot and maintain it's 100% ground specialization.
That's great, actually. Because I can ignore 100% the "new thing" and work up something else and not feel I'm losing out on something

Eh for people who know all the broken away team/ground combat functions the commando tree doesn't really do anything and has been so awful for years now that people won't even bother doing it even its *fleshed out*.
Most likely we will see raider or warship skills named after star trek hero one liners. Like we will get a raider/bop skill that will be called target engines. What will happen is if it blows up your target it randomly will select a random boff to replace it until you can change it back lol.
In all its not that they don't do a good job at cryptic for development its mostly just in my case I just find it to be the same old stuff I've already grinded up and looking more for play for fun than play for free grind.
I agree on a T6 Bird of Prey, as long as the B'rel skin can be used on it
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

See this is where I'm at a loss. The concept of a pilot ship sort of makes sense (DS9 + Voyager gave certain aspects of space combat a fighter like feel at times) but then their process of which ships to choose makes none whatsoever. Instead of even considering for a moment that the BOP was the ship deep behind enemy lines and doing all kinds of fancy manuvers (DS9 along with the defiant) one would think that would the be the appropriate ship to use.
However, our resident geniuses ignored canon completely and focused on continuing their own ship layouts. So the BOP which did do pilot like manuvers in the shows is NOT the pilot ship because in STO it has universal boff layout and raider status. While the raptor which was only seen in the enterprise as a dead ship* and never pulling off any fancy manuvers IS the pilot ship of choice because it has a more prototypical escort boff layout . . . .
And we wonder why this game can't stay close to canon Trek.
*Disclaimer: that Enterprise episode is the only one I can think of with a Raptor. I'm sure others will enlighten me. Just remember we're talking about fancy manuvers when you do enlighten me.

Nope, you're spot on it's the only episode it was ever in...and it was a scout and not a destroyer of some kind.
People seriously need to quit whining about canon ships and get it into their heads that this is the 25th century, of course new ship designs are going to be better than old canon ones, as well they should be.

If BoPs are universal, then it wouldn't matter.
Console allocations, though...I think 1Eng/4Sci/5Tac is acceptable.

okay, your statement makes zero sense to ME-Pilot abilities are all about hit-and-run, as opposed to stand-and-fight.
The Key to it, the real key, is that Federation Players don't buy raiders, and they're releasing new ships as cross-faction templates. (same basic layout and stat-block, only differences are detail and artwork)
They have been doing this recently a lot, but the Delta Rising Pack was a bit different.
I suspect they might try to release more ships in some kind of faction "bundle"d format. A lot of people will buy the bundle that might otherwise only buy the ship for one faction, and that's their ticket to ensure they don't miss anything.
But that doesn't mean they'll do it for all. And of ocurse, if they actually sold a Raider with Battle Cloak on the Fed side... It would sell like crazy. But of course, that would make KDF players angry...

No it would make a few KDF players angry, I imagine so long as we got a t6 BoP that stayed true to the BoP line many of us wouldn't care if the feds got one as well.
**** some of us have even encouraged it. Personally while I'd prefer there be at least some differences between factions, that hasn't been Cryptics approach and so its the best way to actually get new things for the kdf and rommie players instead of every new shiny going to feds.
It's an Engineering slot...it may as well say "Universal Console" slot.
For you. Personally I use at least 2 engineering consoles that ARE NOT universal and cannot be slotted anywhere else. I would suspect, I'm not the only one.

I can understand the desire to see Pilot Spec BOPs. The Pilot Ships are nice. But let's wait to see what a T6 version would be like.
