Delta Quadrant 'abandoned ship's

Since the sector map update, scannable ships, nebulas, comets, etc have started appearing in sector space and reward with crafting mats. In the Delta Quadrant, I found at least two abandoned ships where you could scan them over and over and over again, and they don't disappear for a very long time. I'm guessing this behavior's unintentional, as you could build up quite a stack of mats just sitting there and scanning.
