I would still like to see a "true carrier". 2 fore and 2 aft weapon slots (or maybe 1 fore 3 aft to make it a more defensive focus), and 4 carrier bays. T6 sci based, with Corvettes as frigate pets.
Maybe limit the number of pets that can be assigned to offense roles to 2, making (or letting) keep squadrons on intercept/escort roles.
I think this dynamic will make for a fun ship to fly.
You didn't hear? Summer vacation is canceled this year because of the war. Sorry.
How u dare to ask for a vacation in the middle of a war? If you need to rest...then take a 5 min break and go back to grinding...errr..killing those Iconians.;)

So... a Risian USO Concert Carrier, taking the vacation to the front line...
Orion chorus girls, ferengi bar staff, a dabo table or three, perhaps a movie theater showing patriotically themed holoflicks of Captain Lucky Jack thrashing the Iconians...

Interesting...
Sci ships are worst STO ship type and hardly anybody use it for pve. But in this thread "many" (some) ppl want it... this is miracle.
I hardly see any Breen sci carrier but many ppl flying Kobali Samsar. Hope that Cryptic will be smart enough and introduce Dreadnought (a.k.a Scimitar for all) or at least good Escort Carrier.

Maybe because it's easy to strap 8 beams on a cruiser and just FaW to their hearts content? Sci ships take some skill and understanding and balance of what Sci skill(s) one may need to do what they wish to focus in? Where it's easy to get a few tac consoles...slap them in and stack all the crit consoles and some defensive ones.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power

That's because it took quite a while to complete the mastery levels on the carrier, and now players are getting to doing the same with their Kobali cruisers, which they got some time after the carriers. Personally, I'm kind of spoiled by the carrier now, since I got them fitted out to be fairly tanky, with the bonus of some useful sci abilities.

Because maybe they don't remember the episode were Troi was on the bridge in a bikini? Oh wait...wasn't there a episode were Dax was walking about DS9 in her bathing suit? Og yeah that was just on Risa...
Didn't 7....no...what about T'pol...definitely not...
Oh I know why they don't!!! Because there wasn't a single Starfleet officer who wore a suit inappropriately...unlike what many players want to do to get their rocks off.
I love these arguments.
Because in the show we saw everyone Starfleet flying around in Breen/Xindi/JH/Cardassian/Malon/whatever ships too.
Because Starfleet used any other beam weapon than phasers (not counting the NX).
Because even in the show the creators couldn't figure out what colors what departments were supposed to wear when.
Because if you're Bajoran/Vulcan/Troi/Neelix you can wear whatever you damned well want, apparently, regardless of Starfleet uniform protocol, and still serve on the ship/station/show because Plot and Costuming and because just because.
Because the game resembles the show so much that this argument makes any kind of sense.
Give the players what they want. Personally I think it's hilarious to have my (male) Andorian wear his beachcomber outfit everywhere.
It's Wartime peeps. The Iconians (an their Heralds) are Blasting our planets and ships left and right and all you can think about is 'The Summer Event'? Personally to go along with the story and overall feel of the game we shouldn't even have one as we should be out 'fighting' the war. Of course that's not gonna happen, so instead why not have a event that is designed to test our war skills in 'friendly games' of attack and defense especially on the ground, or better yet have Risa invaded by the Heralds/Iconians and we have to save the planet by doing various missions like a battlezone earning Favors that way. Hoverboarding, Building Sand Castles, and Dancing just doesn't seem like suitable activities when we're supposed to be fighting the big bad of the game. Just my Opinion. There's lots that can be done with the Summer Event to tie it in with the current conflict. It would also be a nice change of pace from the last few Summer Events.
The Galaxy needs you to fight the Iconians and their Heralds in order to protect our interests and freedoms in the Galaxy. Join the fight in the Herald/Iconian War today!

It's not wartime. I'm not being hunted. I stomp any Iconians I see. And I can only see them in one STF (on normal at that) currently once a day as seeing them more often does nothing for me.
Interesting...

1. We just had a dreadnught and escort carrier released in the last lock box. We're also likely to get pilot escorts as our next c-store release, which is following up on command cruisers and classic cruisers. Similarly, the first Risan ship was an escort while the last was a cruiser.
Its time for sci (particularly when the KDF and ROM still badly need more choices in that department.)
2. The reason people don't use the breen science carriers is likely because they are stupid (and if you take that remark as an earnest evaluation of intelligence I'll laugh). Its a great ship if you adopt the stance that maybe it'll be easier to kill things (like the herald) if they have absolutely no power and are stuck at the bottom of a singularity. That takes a bit more thought and fiddling to get right (meaning that as people follow the path of least resistence they generally won't bother), but it can pay huge dividends to some people.
IE. the breen carrier suits a quite viable approach to STO. Ignoring it (under the assumption that the release of 3 FED T6 sci ships in one expansion wasn't appealing to some sort of market. No, that just didn't happen,) is not justifiable.

Just like the Dominion war! (how many strike ships did the defiant obliterate?)
And that comment doesn't make summer vacation less appropriate.
Bipedal mammal and senior Foundry author.
Notable missions: Apex [AEI], Gemini [SSF], Trident [AEI], Evolution's Smile [SSF], Transcendence
Looking for something new to play? I've started building Foundry missions again in visual novel form!
...or better yet have Risa invaded by the Heralds/Iconians and we have to save the planet by doing various missions like a battlezone earning Favors that way.
Setting aside the debate about whether or not the usual summer event would be 'appropriate', this isn't a bad idea... but then, I do think that some of the ground queues could be livened up by borrowing a page from Undine Assault in terms of having multiple possible maps...
And yes, duncanidaho11, you're right: enemy ships are much easier to deal with if they have trouble manuvering or getting enough power to various subsystems... which reminds me that it might be time to respec the main operator to leverage that (the DR operator has the flow caps skill maxed out, because tachyon beams and the Breen energy siphon are quite helpful for attack runs in a tac escort)...
that's why these forums make me laugh, there I was yesterday reading a thread saying we have too many events and they should slow down and here I am today reading a thread from players who cant seem to wait for the next event to start, I sure do love this forum.
It's Wartime peeps. The Iconians (an their Heralds) are Blasting our planets and ships left and right and all you can think about is 'The Summer Event'?.
like this one geez its a game people all these things will still be there to play after the event is over they wont go away and I guarantee the war wont end with iconians the victors (spoiler alert) , take some time out and enjoy the events there's plenty of time for iconian mashing later on, and you'll be moaning in a few weeks that you've fed up with the war and want something different to do.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
It's Wartime peeps. The Iconians (an their Heralds) are Blasting our planets and ships left and right and all you can think about is 'The Summer Event'? ....
Well, during the Federation / Klingon War the Risa Summer Event still existed.
Members of both the Federation and KDF were welcomed on Risa (which is in Federation space)... and no one was killed or injured by the opposing faction. It's a game, just roll with it.
Personally, I think it would be funny to see some Iconians on Risa doing the snake on the dance floor.
I didn't bother to spend much time in the last couple summer events because when I looked at the ships, I couldn't think of a single build that would fit my playstyle--their boff and console slot setup falls a little short in areas I tend to give priority.
But, with the advent of the specialization system, particularly the higher end pilot specs, the unique risian consoles become much more useful.
I think a risian sci ship would do well too, but any new risian ship MUST have pilot seating.
and how about a risian pilot boff?....maybe he should have the impatient trait?
Vacation wills till be there, in story time it is a very short stay. It took them a few years to just move 1 year in story time, as such a month or so on Risa is only the equivalent of about a week of story time.... so that is like putting into port for 7 days.

I see people asking for them all the time on these forums, its a good reason to consider them non-representative of the true player population.
Minor events could be introducing a few new basic emotes so we can communicate and role play a little better, nothing fancy or animation-intensive.
Can't wait for Risa.
If it is submarine themed I wonder what the sonar or stealth power will do.
