If something isn't used by people, if it's viewed as an inconvenience, if it's not something people want to have to interact with, how can revamping it provide any benefit to the game, especially when there's no new incentive to interact with it?
Hm. Fewer loading screens in between me and the mission. No interruptions when I set auto-navigation to my destination.
No, no benefit there.
Wonder why they'd spend so much time on a feature like that. Couldn't be because it was a long-standing request from various players to remove the sector walls.
Oops. Sorry, my sarcasm flow controller was set to maximum. I'll try to turn that down a bit.

Yeah a new battlezone would have been nice, I hate grinding queues for marks...
To me Season 10 feels like an episode of the old Transformers cartoon. It was somewhat interesting but really nothing more than an extended commercial trying to convince you to buy a new ship.
I felt like I spent as much time flying TO the objectives as I did dealing with them. The new content definitely was designed to show how sluggish a cruiser feels.
On this season. Has anyone other than me taking the time to stop and think. What if they're just releasing it a little at a time? You know, release a little, debug it, release a little, debug it. Instead of releasing it all at once and hearing about how buggy it is for the next six months.
Don't worry you're not alone ... people thought of this since S1 ... unfortunetly they were always wrong ...
I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just saying, keep the hope alive. This could be all we get for season 10. But we can hope for more. Probably won't get it, but we can hope.

I think that's exactly what they're doing. I find it extremely hard to believe that Cryptic is going to wrap up the Iconian War, something that we've been building up to for years in this game, with 2 episodes and a handful of STFs. This is just the beginning.

Yeah because that's totally better than fixing the long standing 3+ year old bugs. smh
I see the sector space revamp as the same as the ESD revamp. The revamps look pretty, but there is absolutely nothing new to do. Everything I can do in the new ESD, I could've done in the old ESD.
Sure there are no longer any sector walls and less loading, but there is absolutely nothing new to do in sector space.

Apparently you are not flying around and scanning all the little nebuli and such in the new Sector Space.
It is also a real good way of bring Exploration back into the game. *fingers crossed*
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Hmm, I'm a bit upset with the new STF's. People leaving left and right after realizing they can't even penetrate the NPCs shields in Normal mode while taking a ton of damage in return. I'm not sure that this will keep new players or casual players around. I'm sure they will get nerfed eventually but not before scaring players off. Normal mode STFs should be tested with normal run of the mill drops you get from story line missions. Although I have to say that they are quite fun with the right group but thats in advanced mode with people i know have quite a bit of DPS. I dont know, I just consider Normal mode a que up for a quickie run with whomever else ques. The timers for optionals in Normal mode seem to be fine as you cant except to beat them everytime with a random group but still can complete it for a reward.
I'm really unsure of why people are having a problem yet..... I had a pretty new lv60 I created for the Delta Recruit and they were able to handle the content pretty well..... glass canon that did not blow up once.... did get miffed at one point when transitioning to the sphere, spawned me in a gate... literally inside one of the gate spires stucking straight through the engineering hull on my Presidio like a cocktail meatball on skewer and I was stuck there for that whole arc of the STF until transitioning back to space again.
Delta rising was a bit of a PR foul up, and normally Seasons come out towards the end of the year. So I suspect this is in fact Delta Rising .5 season. Its just the Dev's decided to expunge the negative feeling towards DR by just calling it a new season entirely.
That is at least my theory. and as with all theories it could be the contents of a Malon's colostomy bag.

If you look on the STO Wiki you can see that Seasons have come out in January, March, April, July, November, December, etc. In fact July is the most used month for a Season: 4 of the 12 have been in July - and 2 of the 12 in April.

Yes, there do seem to be a bunch of great new gameplay features. It's just surprising that "The Iconian War! Culmination of all the dangling plot threads & conspiracy theories of the past 5 years! Promoted with it's own lead-up event! Etc, etc, etc! /fanfare"....
....is two quests.
Just looking back at the recent seasons - New Romulus was a lot more than that. Dyson/Solanae has 8-9 quests plus all the adventure zone stuff. Delta, even before they added the extra handful of quests, was a lot more. Yes, the sector space revamp was a large effort. But it wasn't advertised as "Season 10! Sector Space! (oh, and something about Iconians)." :P
edit: that said, Sector Space does seem like it'll be the main content I play, as I plan on making a second Delta Recruit to see how leveling a new character is on the new map. /shrug
Other seasons was just updates to features many been asking for. This is just one of them. There will be more coming. Sometimes the updates isn't just content. Its better features to make the gaming experience better. Just like Bluegeek said. Many players for a long time been wanting these features. I'm glad to see them.

So we get 2 featured episodes and one story arc mission. is there no other story content??
I had a simular thought too, but only lack of arc missions. But then I rethought about it. Cryptic is not going to keep us hanging, we just have to be patient.
I know that the two feature episodes cannot be the only episodes permanently for this particular arc. If you pay attention to the storyline, and the way they talk, there will be more.
Once upon a time, there was a Foundry author who toiled in obscurity. Hundreds and hundreds of hours spent designing and creating custom content for the community which, for some reason, only a dozen people actually played.
And then Cryptic said, "Let there be the Top 3 System."
And so our Foundry author had hope - perhaps his missions would be seen! But the difficulty was that there were too few starting locations, and the market was already oversaturated. And our Foundry author despaired again.
And then Cryptic said, "Let there be almost 100 new places to stick a mission."
That's 300 new opportunities for exposure, and no one's going to move their established missions because they start where they are for a story-related reason, one unlikely to change.
Let the Great Age of the Foundry begin, good sirs. Season 10 is, essentially, OUR season.

That's my main point. You're going to see a TON of new, easy access content within weeks of the Foundry's reintegration.
However, I would also point out that Cryptic's been testing a format for a few months now - release a new feature episode, have it give 3 weeks' worth of varied rewards, then put it in it's place and release the next one. This model seems to be working well for them. I highly expect they're going to follow it for the entire duration of the Iconian War, under the logic of "something new every week, something big every three".
Someone asked if they expected entire seasons released in a day, and since Netflix does exactly that, I think we HAVE kinda forgotten what it's like for season episodes to be released serially.
Look at how the Delta Recruit event is being handled - weekly goal/reward rotation. Pretty much everything is now designed to have a "tune in next week" feel to it.

For their metrics
People can breeze through story eps that in their mind should take weeks, can be done in a weekend.
It's not right, but I can see sorta why they would do it in such a way

Sorry but that's utter nonsense ... Seasons "normally" come out twice every year" ... 5 years of STO = 10 Seasons *HINT HINT* ...
And see the last line of my post
