I'd like to go on record as saying that I logged in on the splash window and started downloading updates around 1800 last night (local time here in Germany). It has been running non-stop since then, and it is now 0700 local, and there's still 650MB to patch. Additionally, we now find out that (surprise, surprise) S10 wasn't quite ready for "lve" yet, and so STO will also be DOA tonight for fixes that should have been done before S10 dropped.
The net effect of which is that I'm going to get robbed of 2 consecutive days of playing. Because cryptic won't/can't be bothered to stagger updates to "spread the pain". So while most everyone in the USA is at work and not impacted by this--the effect on European players is morbidly unfair.
Mind you, for the record, it is NOT my internet connection. I can stream Netflix on a VPN without issues. And I've let my computer IDLE while downloading this patch--so my bandwidth is not being hogged by any other processes.
So for those of you complaining about rubber-banding, unplayable lag, and disconnects....you haven't even seen half the problem. And it will STAY a problem so long as Cryptic's servers are still pushining updates which--rationally--shouldn't have taken more than about 2-3 hours TOPS. Unfortunately, no one on that side of this game seems to recognize the problem of pushing a patch update of this size in one lump-sum....despite the servers already being at their full limits at least on a semi-weekly basis or more (minimum of patch day and on the weekends).
Tonight, when I get off work, I'll come home and attempt to load again, only to be faced with more patching--which will undoubtedly be so slow that it will abridge any ability to log in and play tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow morming, 24 hours from now, I'm still not able to log in--after attempting to patch the game for the 2nd consecutive night in a row.
I heartily recommend that Cryptic extend the giveaways for a 2 week period--because some of us will probably not even be able to log in during this week. The overall attitude towards, treatment of, and concern for European players is just atrocious.
No you are not alone. I am in the Washington DC area and I crashed 4 times last night. I managed to get in for a very brief, NY minute, before I was kicked out again. I should have known better. I have been playing this game since 2012 and am a lifetime member, and with any new release, there will be many issues. Believe me, I know its frustrating, and I feel your pain. But the truth of the matter is I knew this was going to happen because it always has and it always will. Thats the nature of it i guess, anyone remember when the new Health Care Law went into effect. I knew there would be those issues with everyone trying to logg in at the same time so it was no big surprise. I was just hoping that last night would have been different, and again I was wrong. If someone is claiming they had NO PROBLEMS, they are trolling and hoping to get a rise out of those already frustrated. Now having said that, there was ONE occassion when I had NO Problems with a new launch. It was Delta Rising and I waited 7 days after launch before I tried and guess what, smooth sailing. Sad but true. Rule of thumb, if it kicks you out 3 times during one sitting then give it up for the night and find something else to do. There will be hundreds of other players complaining, and rightfully so, to get the issue resolved by the next day, HOPEFULLY!!
I had that with the season 9 logo, easy way I fixed it... run windowed... then when yoiu're in, maximize the window. Unmaximise before closing the game or it remembers you were maxed and crashes on next startup.
The transition from the cryptic screen to the season logo load screen seems to dislike some cards/driver combos apparently.
Way awesome! 3 patches in 3 days. And the best part is, today's patch is so minor that it could have been easily rolled into yesterday's patch just fine--or left out until next week's patch.
Oh, and 3x character bind on pickup training manuals is sheer genius! I always knew you guys could come up with more creative ways to uselessly chaff our bank slots, and you've outdone yourself this time.
FYI to anyone and everyone listening, don't unpack that box!
very disappointing release, where is the content? i really hope more will be coming very soon. I mean seriously 2 episodes that is all, and 3 pve grinds. omgoodness what a disappointment.
I'm glad we lost the traffic control between maps. Otherwise I would die from all the posters on loading screens. Rosie the Riveter in green? What were you thinking...
The Purple is a really nice touch though. I like it.

At least we got all that cool balance and bug fixes for PvP. All those new maps, game modes and features like leaderboards, matchmaking and spectator mode...you know, that stuff we've been waiting for for 5 years, the stuff that has even been promised.
CONS:
Account Bank, Fleet Bank and Exchange return have eaten items.
Random crashes when trying to load maps are back, despite supposedly being 'fixed' at least twice before (including once since S10 release, but players are still experiencing them.)
Random crashes when trying to log-in are back.
Borg Red Alerts are broken again with the Univessels not appearing after defeating the requisite number of enemy squadrons - another problem that was supposedly 'fixed' once before.
At least one ability in Command Specialisation is causing a graphics error by showing an explosion animation when a ship deploys mines.
Half of the DOff Assignments are missing, especially ones that were formerly tied to Sector Blocks (like Forced Labor, Haggle and most Assignment Chain ones...), and even more so in "Current Map" tab.
Little to no actual new content (PvE Queues do not count as content, sorry.)
Swansong of the storyline begins (Yeah, when we finally beat the Iconians back to Andromeda, what are we supposed to do then? Follow them and save the Kelvans from TOS "By Any Other Name" Go back to fighting the Borg? Or maybe in true Kirk fashion we can find a malfunctioning supercomputer that's ruling some pre-warp civilisation as its 'God' and totally violate the Prime Directive by destroying it?)
CONCLUSION:
"'The Iconian War' is the best expansion ever and the players really love it!"... at least it seems that's all that it seems gets heard, no matter what's actually said.
"If you can't take a little bloody nose, maybe you ought to go back home and crawl under your bed. It's not safe out here. It's wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it's not for the timid." -- Q, TNG: "Q-Who?"
^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
Yep. With as broken as doff missions are currently, now would be a FANTASTIC time to start balancing them. So all of the missions that take 20 hours to get 50 exp....those need to go. Realistically, a good round number to shoot for is 1 hour of doff project = 50 exp. Some variation is ok, of course, but that's what should be ideal. And for the love of pete, please make more recruitment missions. A LOT more. Double, no TRIPLE the number of recruitment missions that currently exist. Everything else (except diplomacy) is easy enough to come by. Diplomacy missions are mostly available....but they offer far too little payout for each. And prototype turrets are a thing of the past; those need to die.
It wouldn't hurt to add a few more doff mission chains too. And now with a sector revamp, it would be a prime opportunity to re-evaluate Diplomatic Immunity/Raiding Party and give the diplomacy/raiding tree updated benefits. Starbase 39 TW is now a joke and a half--at least for any FED aligned toons. TW to Q'onos would be a lot more helpful. Or even a TW to Battle Group Omega in the Beta Quadrant.
While I'm on the topic, it seems like there's a LOT more Tholian Red Alerts than any other Red Alerts in the Beta Quadrant. Balancing them would be a start. Even better would be adding Iconian Red Alerts. And let's not forget Deep Space Encounters; these are beyond a joke now. At the very least, they need better rewards. Offering fleet marks would be a fantastic start. Even better would be to overhaul RA's and DSE's to offer fleet dilithium vouchers--and the same could be said of a lot of things.
Fleet dilithium/vouchers should be a LOT more available in game. Dilithium is by FAR the hardest fleet commodity to come by, and even if STO was to take an area like Voth BZ and convert all dilithium rewards from there into fleet-vouchers only (and restore payouts to their original, un-nerfed levels) players would be extremely happy. And better yet, it wouldn't flood the game with dilithium people can convert to zen--meaning that Cryptic's overlords can stop worrying about the rewards being TOO generous. And it would help small fleets out tremendously---many of which have died tragic deaths due to abusive mis-handling of the crushing amounts of resources required (especially dilithium). If fleet leaders have to spend all of their STO time grinding dilithium for fleet projects....they're not going to continue playing for very long. Stop the monotony. Show some small-fleet love.
There's a better way to increase available dilithium not just for fleets, but also solo players - they just need to raise the refinement cap like We, The Players, have been begging for - I know - two years and some at least. Between Rep system Mark-to-Dil conversion, Dailies (Especially "Emancipation" and the KDF "Most Dangerous Game" ones) and the Foundry, plus Rich Dilithium Claims and "Turn In Contraband" DOff Assignments (as well as KDF Prisoner "Forced Labor" assignments) it's not hard to start collecting plenty of Dilithium Ore - it's the 8000-a-day Ore-to-Refined refinement cap that really limits how much Dilithium players have for Reps, Fleets, or even just buying Zen with...

Yeah, I've encountered that 'auto-moving' bug myself - though for me it's usually on the ground either my character starts spinning and won't stop or worse, takes off running randomly (usually when I'm trying to interact with something)...

Is there going to be more content besides 2 missions? If all this is is two missions, change to sector space and 2 queues...this shouldn't be called a season.
Plus, the missions are way over the top with their scale and level of violence and if there isn't any closure. If that's the only missions we get... Its very sad and shows lack of creativity.
And content is not adding a leaderboard to PvP or fixing bugs. It is things to do. So two missions is nothing. Especially with no closure and with their violent endinng.
Your game is broken, we see you are on a cash grab from hell to milk the last of the old player and the maximum of the new player money out of their wallets, but just shut it down. I would respect you more if your turned off the game then what you are doing to the name Star Trek.

Thank you. This worked for me as well.

Maybe you didn't get the memo. It's supposed to be Season 10: The Iconian War, not Season 10: The Pretty Iconian Space Pony Negotiations.
