Is the Shaka emote a one day deal or will it be available for the week?
I'm wondering about this myself, since I kinda doubt I'll be logging in today since I'm having to re-download the patch that I pre-patched last week and apparently isn't going to work.
Again.
If it's a one day, log in to get type thing, guess I miss out. I would like to know though.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
I would understand "Temba, his arms wide open", signifying a gift in the Tamarian language.
However, the choice of "Shaka, when the walls fell" is at least inappropriate in my opinion, as it means "mourning, acknowledgemnet of a befallen tragedy, failure, loss, someone's death", etc. Unless this is a implicit self-reference of Cryptic to the game bugs they're going to introduce in Season 10.
(Please refer to TNG: Darmok episode to learn more.)
It was extremely appropriate when it was first given as a gift to the paying players who suffered through the massive problems when the game first came out. We stuck around, filed bug reports, talked in the forums and helped get through the early issues.
When the walls fellwe stuck around. The emote was a nice little wink and nod to those of us who loved Trek and felt the game could rise above its problems and become great.
So, while the newbies may have no idea and think it's just stupid fluff that makes little sense... in the contdxt in which it was originally given as a unique reward it made a *lot* of sense and also made us smile.
Now it's just meaningless free garbage for every whinging newbie who expects all the content from the game to be handed to them.

I was there for that in the beginning. It was a nice wink and all, but giving it out now, it is meaningless fluff.

So if the Tribble server is any indication, it'll be really appropriate in 2 hours, considering how Season 10 is far from ready and plagued with graphical bugs, errors in spawn locations, camera keeping resetting the wrong way, ship stopping before the "go into system" prompt shows up, etc... in sector space, warp-to-sector-space trails sometimes changing from blue to green on Fed ships, camera resetting in the wrong way in system space too, some anti-iconian weapon skins still not ready, armor tailor options not unlocking, etc...
So, yeah, I believe this is going to be appropriate unless there were a couple of internal patches never released on Tribble.

Bugs that happen on Tribble don't necessarily all make it to Holodeck. I remember back in Season 1, a bunch of bugs on Tribble never even reared their ugly heads on Holodeck. So, it's a toss up, really.
Either way, I expect cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria.

I'm applauding for the reference. Other than sector space revamp I'm not particularly excited about season ten. The past two seasons were mediocre at best and I'm getting less and less excited by the new art direction for ships and armor. Unlike many I don't mind the increased emphasis on war, after all we need some reason to go fight mobs (and Trek is chock full of wars) but I do miss the lack of consistent Trek style.
I get the impression that the STO art department is trying to mimic too many other styles in order to appease non-Trek fans. The Tron/Matrix/Anime hybridization is pushing the limits of Maximum Ridiculosity at this point.

^ Pretty much how I feel about the newer, less canon looking ships. I left the game after the Breen story arc first came out. So, I missed out on previous fiascos. But, what irks me, is the inequality in the types of ships they're making. I'd be elated to see Season 10 bring on new T6 escorts in the C-store... preferably one's that aren't as hideous as the Phantom.
An emote and a couple badges? You're upset about them giving people an emote and two badges? Are they really that important that you want them kept to a select set of people?
"Earned" them and never used them.
But they gave everyone in the game at the time 1 of those maybe 2. But all 3 were given to people who were affected by the bug that ruined characters. So it does seem odd to just pass out the 3rd one at least since that was their "apology" for TRIBBLE up characters. But again don't use them myself so not too upset by it. Just wish there was something else also given so those who already have that gets something too. It doesn't have to be something given to only those back then but just something for season 10.

Lifetime no longer gives a forum title. That should be updated on the Lifetime page that mentions what you get. PMing the CSR doesn't work neither.
he second set of rewards well be giving away are a set of coveted badges and titles! Well be giving away the Badge of Temba and the Medal of Tanagra. As well as these badges, well be giving away the titles Hero of Tanagra and Tamarian Envoy. These ancient set of badges and titles will be given away once again, with the release of our 10th Season!
This makes me sad...
Oh well...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
I thought this is about removing sector block borders...

Still sad about it.. (not that they are for both sides, but that they are giving the medal away).
Is it the same ppl got at the start of STO?

They could of given us all a free ship to celebrate.... and then a week or two later bring out a whole new line of ships that are far better...
How about the Iconian Lockbox? Hmm that will be out in a bit
How about animations and titles!!! Yayyy
Haha I do not mind I just quite like being a reman/romulan Hyrbrid who was born on vulcan and flys around in an Tal Shiar adapted destroyer pretending to be the queen of the borg. Now it is time to test out my skills on the Iconions and their pets.

And I'm content to keep my Firefly style crew on my Tal Shiar adapted destroyer, whilst I aim to misbehave. :P
I always seem to be thinking about the next season as each season rolls out.
This is not to say each season that I have experienced since open beta has not been enjoyable!
Back in 1998 there was a game called Star Trek Starship Creator...
Fantastic game, which got extremely better when version 2 came out in 2000 and Star Trek Deep Space Nine Dominion Wars in 2001 let you import your ships from the starship creator and use them in multiplayer mode.
Ships in this game need to be Modular... meaning...
As I unlock ships from Tier 1 to Tier 6+ all Primary/Secondary hulls, Nacelles, Pylons, Necks and textures I unlock along the way as well as for sure any purchased store versions should be available for me to use on my ships when customizing them. (limited to the class and relative size for the ship if necessary for ease of harpoint matching on the model etc... I know how much work that would be to implement using an NX-01 saucer on another similar ship and mismatching weapon hardpoints on the model would be a nightmare, but using the nacelles on another akira class vessel wouldn't be that terrible of an issue to implement, or Sovereign Nacelles on a Presidio ...)
I would love to see something similar to the Starship Creator where I can see the decks and sections and where a sensor pallet was located, swap it for a phaser relay etc, but I understand how complex balancing this game has been and now even more so with "Power Creep" being obnoxious as it is (Another suggestion I have is to take ship stats back to basic and revamp the whole game geared and directed towards an END GAME of PVP zone where all missions and gear are directed at building your ship for pvp and then if you CHOOSE you can enter a pvp area [Identical to normal sector / mission space to enter OR perhaps a setting that removes confirmation and allows enemies with the pvp flag on to travel to any non-alligned space to do their thing, ie - A Klingon squad of players cloak and travel to Sol to attack Earth or Tal-Shiar travel to Q'Nos to cause trouble, but can only attack players with pvp flag on] and challenge each other [no confirmation window] and you can still do missions but with the added threat of pvp... this means that all stats for every item and skill would be recalculated to work best for pvp and all pve content would be set to work well with the new gear and stats so you can seamlessly transition to pvp area and back. No need to power creep anymore... just a thought...)
As it stands though, I would simply like to see the ability to keep using skins and textures from ships that I prefer in the starship customization.
I paid money for the NX-01 and Excelsior, and Avenger etc and should be able to keep those skins and textures in every aspect of the game if I choose rather than give them up after 4 levels like the NX-01 or 2 levels for the Connie Refit and now I'm dumping my beloved Avenger for a T6 reluctantly to keep up with the Kardashians...
I should be able to keep the ship I paid for for the entire game if I choose and have it still be effective, otherwise what is the real point of paying for ships in this game other than keeping up with a dysfunctional (used lightly pvp isn't really that bad) pvp (reference my earlier suggestion above about power creep and limited pvp area [pvp would be way more fun tracking a squad through a sector of space rather than a small map...or getting messages of a band of pirates stealing dil or equipment from Vulcan or Risa or wherever and opposing pvp players will need to track them down and stop them for a pvp reward if they do or to the others if they can't be stopped...they get to keep the items/dil/etc they stole]) - I also had another rant that PVP in this game isn't true pvp due to your opponent seeing the attacks you use immediately... like a fighter telegraphing his next move to his opponent in a real fight... just doesn't make sense... there should be a small delay before seeing what hit you as if your officers have to actually do some work to find out why your shields just lost hardness etc and give you a solution to the issue...
I have spent a lot of money on this game to support it (more than $2k total) and I have been fairly pleased with the great work the dev's have done as well as all the staff working on this game. As I prepare to spend even more money on this game this week, these are my suggestions from what I see and hear and read in the game as a U.F.P.I.C.A(Yoo'F Peek'Ah) founder (United Federation of Planets Interfleet Coalitionary Alliance [An alliance of 8+ fleets with several hundred players http://ufpica.iclanwebsites.com/])
Bugs that happen on Tribble don't necessarily all make it to Holodeck. I remember back in Season 1, a bunch of bugs on Tribble never even reared their ugly heads on Holodeck. So, it's a toss up, really.
Well, guess what now? All the problems related to sector space have been transferred.

i rather gotten a free fleet ship module
Yea...
I always considered it a reward for leveling from Ensign -43 to Lt ... Was kinda proud of it too... Now... it's just another "meh" item.

Yeah, would have been nice to see some rewards for us lifers, too.
Well, guess what now? All the problems related to sector space have been transferred.
Q F E !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a question that needs an answer.
Along with are these daily rewards or will they be unlockable by some means throughout the whole week?
1) Go in-game
2) Click on the C-Store icon
3) Navigate to the "Promotions" tab
4) Select...
And if I have to come over there and hold your hands while you do it, I'm gonna charge you the cost of the airline ticket and rental car.
