So, a while back Geko made his controversial comment about ending the Fed-Klingon war so they "didn't have to do Klingon-only content". The payback was that there was still scope to do Klingon-themed multifaction content.
Now, looking at the Iconian War trailer... this seems to be exactly what has happened. The trailer and initial queued missions focus on the Iconians attacking the Klingons, putting the Empire - at least narratively - in the forefront of the war.
I'm cautiously optimistic that this means, for the first time since LoR, we will start to get missions which "feel" right when played as KDF - as opposed to the Starfleet reheats we got for Delta Rising. It's just a shame that demographics mean the bulk of the ships and troops we will see defending Qo'nos will probably be Federation.
Some of the Hub-ub I've seen coming through the Dev Tracker would hint that more KDF content is coming and since Riccosa took over as the EP, I'm holding out a little hope to see the KDF side of the Game expanded.
Am I hopeful? Hell yeah I am! Is it coming soon? Well, we'll just have to hold out.
Well, I have to admit the Negh'Var overhaul was surprising (even with the T6, I mean the canon skins came without a purchase free for everyone) and including Klingons more in the story is something I welcome. I would hope that they start to explore the faction a bit more and correct some oddities, maybe even expanding on the client peoples.

The Klingons were the only ones doing something about the Undine having infiltrated every level of government in both the Empire and the Federation. The first Iconian was seen on Qo'noS and I steel have a strong feeling that the feklh'ri are linked to the Iconians. It therefore makes sense that the 2 new STF's are klingon-themed.
The thing is that the old idiot of an exec producer was playing favorites with feds. Now that the moron is gone and we have an actually compotent and quite awesome exec producer things are getting better. The new guy has given us more kdf content in a couple months than the old moron did in his whole term.
P.S. Don't believe the "Oh the war marks the end of STO" TRIBBLE. They make a load of cash on this game. No way in hell they would end it.

If they add a solid T6 BoP they'll make quite a lot of KDF players happy, its almost mind boggling why they havent already when its such an obvious cash cow, hell, if they did proper stats and it actually didn't sell I might just admit geko was right about something for once.
The only reason his baby the bort didn't sell was becuase they gave it the worst combination of stats possible, yet somehow still expected people to lap it up.

What KDF content are we talking about? There has been no faction-specific missions since LOR. And with LOR, the KDF got the tutorial, low level missions, and allowing a player to roll KDF right away without having to be a Fed first (3 years after STO launches). These and the Romulan Campaign are the last faction-specific missions brought into STO. And it was years ago.
Every mission, featured episode since LOR hit has been written in a very generic, Fed-oriented POV.
That's true. Honestly, if I could have done the Delta Quadrant in true Klingon style, I would have gone one of two ways...
Ally with the Vaadwaur and split Delta in half, or
Accept the allegiance of the other Delta species to the Klingon Empire as new additions to be ruled by the Empire, and then protected them from the Vaadwaur by completely eliminating them.

Cryptic has a complete lack of knowledge of what it is to be a solider of the Empire. The best thing they can do is go through and get rid of the Federation missions and make new Klingon feeling missions like the early KDF missions that came with LOR or even better the Fek'lhri type missions. It would be a fairly simple task, even if they wanted them to run along side the Federation missions. Hell they could even use many of the same map assets, just new dialogue, story and objectives.
Do that, and give us more uniforms, decent ships like BOP's and a Science Battlecruiser line and I think 99% of KDF fans will be content and happy.

Gah some of you disgust me, you do nothing but whine and complain like Ferengi! The Empire has never been stronger then it is right now and that is thanks to the changes that have happened. Has there been KDF EXCLUSIVE content?
Yes, we have plenty of new ships to take into battle. Personally I prefer quality over quantity and while the Feds have quantity we have QUALITY. The designs truly say Klingon!
Complaining that there has not been any EXCLUSIVE KDF missions in a long while? Well neither the Feds or the Pubs have gotten any exclusive missions, everything has been cross-faction for a very long time now.
Now STOP sniveling like a little petaQ, charge your disruptors, ensure your ships are stocked with Blood Wine and get your crews into combat, or would you rather go to Gre'thor when you die?

Bah if it is suuuch a burden to you maybe you should consider a career change, maybe go join the Vulcans and "meditate" your problems away. If you only consider content as being missions then you have a very narrow vision of what the KDF should be. The KDF is more then just missions, the KDF lives in the hulls of our ships, it breaths through the barrels of our disruptors. It is a fool who focuses on only ONE aspect of something instead of the greater whole and then grows angry because that ONE thing does not meet their expectations.
You can either look at what we have BECOME compared to what we where and rejoice in it, or you can continue to wallow in your own inadequacies and spout random nonsense, but when the time comes for the Empire to raise our mugs of Blood Wine and toast our victory don't be surprised when you find you are left out in the cold commanding a garbage scow in the furthest reaches of the Empire, yearning for what could have been yours if you had only the vision to reach out and TAKE it for yourself when you had the chance.
Now begone, the Warriors of the Empire have a war to fight.
warmaker001b is correct. What new Klingon content?
A ship is a tool and while they are great to have, you get a bad taste when the missions you use them on are written from a Federation perspective.
We want to immerse ourselves in the Klingon lore and feel, pretty hard when the only thing Klingon is the ship you fly and the look of the character.
All we want is what the Federation gets, missions that are tailored to our faction. Once the Fek'Lhri missions are played the game doesn't feel very Klingon.
Cross faction missions just ruin the experience and unfortunately due to the Level 50+ skill requirements per level they are required to play to get your character to level 60.

What's the matter? Couldn't back up your initial retort with facts when someone calls you out on it? Oh, excuse me... Challenges you to show how disgracefully wrong you were? So now you want to spout gibberish in return? Please, do go on, "Warrior."

Actually, I'd say that by and large the non-DR missions have done a decent job of reskinning for KDF. Little touches like threatening to shoot Cooper for cowardice, or J'mpok describing working with Sela as Klin Zha go a long way.
More to the point, with the exception of the first couple of episodes of DR (Mindscape and the Talaxian one), the actual mission content has a very acceptable level of aggression to it. The irony is that STO's default gameplay - shoot first, shoot some more and then ask if anyone has any questions - is inherently better suited to the KDF than other factions.

Marked for emphasis.
That whole "call Cooper a coward" bit? You sure that's written as a "KDF" option, or is it just the "I'm a burly man" / "evil" option to go against the "peacenik carebear" / "good" option of encouraging him to continue?
And while all the copy/paste of Q'apla / Klin Zha / Q'apla / ratkajino for hello / chess / success / coffee makes the game "sound" all alien or foreign, without significant changes to "motive" and/or "execution", it's about as effective as taking a capatalistic business simulator, slapping "comrade" all over the inside of it, and holding it up as a sterling example of "communistic ideals"...
Compare the following:
Everything Old is New, or whatever mission you're first hiking around 23rd Century Drozana:
Reason for being there - while it sucks that Federation interests will be saved as well, there are way too many KDF interests in the sector to let the whole place evaporate - and it's mighty close to Qo'nos...
Execution while there - "in game accolade" granted for taking the "Klingon" method of security patrol handling vs the "Feddie peacenik" option of diplomacy / evasion.
Of Bajor:
Reason for being there - was what, again, when the KDF would have been "just at home" with a fleet staging area in Vlugta or some other spot of the local area?
Execution while there - no comment. 100% Feddie, with barely any dressing as to why you're there other than you're there, make the best of it.
Too many of the "recent" missions take the "Of Bajor" method of "you're there, make the best of it" dressings to the execution (really? Errand Boying for a Talaxian to do what again? Honorably shoot at more Vaadwaur which any "true" KDF would most likely do anyway with or without the Talaxian's blessings...) than even barely trying to give a KDF "feel" for the mission...
Even if, to a point, the "feel" was provided more via the "mercenary type options" of the Lethians / Nausicaans over the "samurai viking honor" ideals of the Ethnic Klingons...
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

At this stage of the games lifecycle - I think it's unrealistic to expect anything else but cross faction content.
While some of the statements about plans for the KDF side of the game haven't been too exciting, they have been 100% honest.
I love the KDF - it's pretty much the only side I play. I venture Fed side or Romulan side for variety, but for the most part I stick w/Klingon gameplay.
I also realize this places me in the minority of players. And that's something you have to come to terms with if you like playing as Klingon. We are a tiny fraction of the player base and we don't make the game that much money.
Since PWE just laid off a chunk of staff - we can expect that resources to develop the game are tight. And those resources are going to go to:
A) Making more ships for FEDs because they are an easy sell. Developing cross faction content again because it's easy and economical.
Things KDF side are lot better then they used to be. There's enough content to be satisfactory and give some flavor to playing as Klingon (or Klingon ally). And that's about all you're going to get.
Again, this is a 5-year old game... and Cryptic/PWE is operating with even fewer resources than they did at launch.
We aren't getting more KDF exclusive content.. which is sad.. but at some point you have to face reality. Play KDF and enjoy what's there or constantly bemoan what you don't have (and probably are never going to get).
The KDF gets at least as much of a nod in cross-faction missions as the Romulans do, if not more. While things could certainly be better, they've definitely been worse and KDF gets more attention than they used to.
I understand why some people are not happy. I just don't happen to feel that strongly about the same things.
I too am looking forward to seeing something along the lines of a T6 version of a Bird of Prey. I have faith that it will happen eventually.

*sings* he got the blues, he got them blues, he got them KDF side, tain't got none blues...
We do have more then we used to, but we also have a hellacious number of annying immersion/fun killing bugs. More then I even want care about in costumes and uniforms.
While story contiguity KDF side is pretty good, there still some holes you could park an entire galaxy in with room to spare (at least thats what it feels like). A lot of progress has been made but now that I've gotten a real good look at thing with delta recruit from ALL factions...((Fed, Rom/Fed, Rom/KDF, KDF)) The Rom progression is IMHO the best of the lot.. Possibly because its simply the newest...
Fed progression is good..its got a few issues but emotionally they're hard for me to pin down. Any issues there is, is with content that could use an update or in some cases a remake/remaster. These are all on going things and after 5 years fit into a fairly predictable pattern. Right now there is sufficients to predict that the Alpha Quadrant missions (Cardi Arc) are on the hot list for work. The hints I've seen in game point toward us likely seeing the results with in 3 months as an educated guess based on previous actions. I think we're going to see Cardassians as a Federation race option.
I don't really see them willing to hang with the KDF... lots of bad blood there.
I'm hoping we'll see some additional ships KDF side both Allied types.. and Fantasy ships player flyable (Fantasy, as in Fek'lari...They got this awesome dreadnaught hull..Very pretty and nasty looking BIG ship) But by now we've all seen the Gorn, Nausican, and Orion capital ships in mission. KDF Allied ships could use some love in the top end of things. Of course the ongoing desire for a T-6 Bird of prey. And my personal and long time desire for some more Klingon KDF science type ships... hopefully battle worthy. And considering the amount of mythbusting thats been going on concerning Klingons, we should be seeing something new, innovative and for at least a year exculsivly Klingon.
And we could really use a new Battle Carrier.. a Klingon Battle carrier..Not a copy of a dishonorable enemies contruction such as the Feklar. The Fek'lari aren't even a real enemy any more... They are or were a iconion contruct... A true Klingon or any member of the KDF would be appalled at the concept of commanding such a dishonorable tool of a ship in anything other then an emergency. ((though I might make an accept ion towards the Fek'lari escort.. mean looking little thing!))
Are they delivering.. Yes... slowly... very slowly, and not nearly in the volume I not only think the should, but what they could.
We STO players are going to keep playing STO for the most part for several reason..
Right now, its about "IT" for trek on the computer. There are some older games, and mods of other games out there, but nothing really that stands out in the prime universe.. or in the JJ universe for that matter. And there is nothing else out there that draws this number of trek fans into gaming. I like trek fans. They tend to be a bit on the smart thoughtfull side. And if you ever been to a convention.. They got "know how to party" down to a fine art.
After 5 years of STO playing KDF I'm not doing "faith" anymore... gave up it... much to emotionally pain full.
In the end... its just cyber recreation. I want mt KDF experience to be every bit as fun and rewarding with more things to do as my Fed or Romulan experience.
Is it there yet? No, clearly no.
Will it ever be there? I don't know. I've been waiting 5 years for it to be there and it hasn't happen yet. There has been some major gap closing... And from the development side a lot more attentivness toward story and contiguity, and content. But there yet.. not even. The Romulan Republic characters have a much more complete and cohesive story to progress through, and it really should be the measuring stick that both the Federation and KDF experience should be gauged by.
Well nuff of this...Thx for jumping in and reminding us to at least try to be civil Blue..
See that you guys... the Forum moderator will LOOK UP what you say in Klingon...

Actually, I'd say it's closer to slapping capitalist on capitalistat least the Washington and the Wall Street kind of capitalist but it could be much more accurate. Look at all the wars the USA has started throughout its history, especially since the collapse of the USSR. Wasn't the latter blamed by the former for all the evil and instability in the world? Well, what about now? Look at all the warmongering by the U.S. and NATO today.
Which country spends the most on its military budget? Who has the largest amount of aircraft carriers in the world? Who has the largest amount of military bases around the world that keep expanding? Meanwhile, Gitmo is still opennot closed. The facts speak for themselves.

Well, capitalism also put a go-kart on Mars.
#JustSaying
Also, rest assured, that Martian go-kart will one day be used as target practice by Klingons.

Actually, I think the answer is "one" - the decision to invade Iraq in 2003. Without getting into the rights and wrongs of that or the numerous other armed interventions (Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Syria...) in every other case the US / NATO decision was to intervene somewhere where there was already widespread fighting going on.

Are you talking of the Post-LOR FE's that have come over time? Because none of that is faction oriented missions. They're generic, Fed POV missions.

Thank you Cryptic.
I understand why some people are not happy. I just don't happen to feel that strongly about the same things.
I too am looking forward to seeing something along the lines of a T6 version of a Bird of Prey. I have faith that it will happen eventually.
Off-topic, let me add for the record that responding "in-character" does not absolve anyone from following forum rules for posting. Please do not directly antagonize other forum users when responding.

SERVE THE EMPIRE WELL!
Qapla'!
