Only 2 episodes?
I sincerely hope that there is more.
5 at least.
I thought I was the only one that noticed the conundrum.
Cryptic should have made five to eight feature episodes per season.
Most of the seasonal stories are written in blogs. Where is the fun in that? We should be playing through the stories. Reputation systems should act as secondary elements, which are used for supporting a seasonal storyarch.
As an aside, I scoff at the notion of "We didn't listen", "we provoked this", etc etc. The Iconians' intentions and designs were made very clear in their notes on the various homeworlds. Our original offense was simply having the temerity to exist, in their galaxy. We may have nudged them to step up the timetable a little by pulling back the curtain on their preparations and manipulations, but a war of (attempted) conquest, extermination and vengeance has been their plan for literally thousands of years. Hundreds of thousands.
Heck, they were already at war with us. It's just entering a new, more blatant phase.
First-season Roddenberryist hedging aside, Cryptic has come down pretty hard on the side of "no, they were and are absolute tyrannical TRIBBLE, they absolutely deserved what they got, and still do".
What's really wild is having to point this out to begin with. It's as if STO has now been targeted by the invasion of the peace freaks! If the Devs kowtow to this one and offer up ships with peace signs, flowers, and tie-dyed T-shirts for the crew, I'm outta here.

Man, a 5 episode story arc like they use to do for featured series would be epic killer, and IMO the only right way a storyline this epic could properly be done.
I worry that in just 2 episodes it'll be wrapped up and rushed to fast.
Will the Neverwinter servers be put on standby so we can enjoy season 10 without the crippling lag we are now experiencing due to the latest NW update or will the NW people get their share of lag while we have a new update?
Or will you actually add more infrastructure to handle the increased laod instead of being cheap about it and waiting for it to stabilize automatically as irate players stop playing?
I got an answer for you but i dont think your going to like it...
What are the chances Cryptic will actually kill off a few characters and replace them with new ones? And I don't mean pointless mook deaths, but actual legitimate characters we've been working alongside for a time?
Because its seems pointless to say "Sacrifices must be made" and then no one relevant dies for an important victory.
As well, it could tie in with Cryptic forming a deal with that one voice actor union.
I had a similar thought when all this was announced, except instead of simply back in time, we follow Ambassador Spock into the reboot movieverse.
hell no if that happened this game will leave my hard drive the reboot universe is horrendous so much I deny its existance won't watch a film or play a game with the jjtrek in it.

My guess, They won't actually do anything to handle any increased load. Sorry.
Why would they invest any money on expensive infrastructure that we only need for "occasional" peaks, when things will stabilize by themselves when server traffic goes back to normal?
Mind you, I'm not saying I agree with this.
I'm a lifetimer myself, Sunday, I wasn't able to log in all afternoon, not until the evening. I kept getting the server was full message, and got hung up, till I timed out of the account server.. Over and over again.
I finally gave up and tried again later on in the evening, when I was finally able to get on.
During these events, I guess it's just best to expect to have these issues until things die down.
Don't even joke about that. Cryptic might see it and think this is a great idea to increase... something, somewhere, somehow. Then the forums will burn. Not that they don't always do that, but right now we're at a low simmer. I don't want to go up to bonfire level again.
I think it is the perfect solution myself. Anyone who "needs" 10 traits anywhere has build issues that are better fixed elsewhere. 4 and 4 with 2 that can be permanently fixed either way 6/4 or 5/5 would also be cool so people could be balanced or specialized more in one.
Personally I would like to see a return to separate storylines for each faction, showing what they do against the Iconian Heralds, rather than sit through the same mission as a Fed, Klink and Rom.
Totally agree with you on the points awarded between leveling missions to be grossly and almost drunkenly distributed between missions, especially in the Delta missions. Some missions you have to go through several patron missions to get around four thousand points, and some you get over ten thousand points for one mission. Looks haphazard to me.

but you also get 4000 points for the patrol mission plus the points from the patrols, I will have to check to see if it evens out on my characters that still need to do them, it is not like you get 0 for completing the patrols,

If I remember correctly, you get in the range of 1500 per patrol so it should end up being pretty close, all though based on the time required to finish those missions and the god awful lag in those patrols you should really get double a normal mission.
Why those patrols lag when part of an episode but run fine as just a system patrol is beyond me.

Where is the proverbial hook?

No
and
42
2 missions
both long and tedious patrol missions
if DR has taught us one thing its
New missions will be several patrol missions tied together to keep people grinding.

Or this.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.
I dare you to do better.

Anyway, as long as we get 2 episodes per season, and 1 episode per mid-season, should be enough :P
