    John,

I have no idea Brother, the furthest I am able to get is watching the launcher update. Pressing "ENGAGE" Then see the screen with Cryptic slowly loading. Then at about 80 present it all just goes black and poof, that's it. It drops you see this little box that say "Oooops" Cryptic Crashed. Very annoying seeing it time after time. I wish I could see a que, that would actually be an improvement.

After over half an hour of trying to log in I am once again moving on. This is my whole weekend so far. Extremely slow loads of all windows. When I finally get a 'PLAY' button on an alt and click it, I am placed in a Q.

I have no problem with the idea of a Q, BUT it then immediately (10-20 seconds or less) disconnects me. I waited a very long time on one of those disconnects since a 'You are in Q' window was still on screen, unreadable under the big Delta banner, just in case something was going on despite the disconnect screen with the login at the bottom. Eventually I tried to click the 'Cancel Login Attempt' button on the Q window, but of course it was non-responsive.

Re-logged in from that window - same.

Exited game and did whole process again - same.

Re-booted so as to have as clean a system as possible. Attempted Login Again - SAME.

So why have a Q system if it is just a way point on the path to disconnect?

Seriously this weekend is now at the EPIC FAIL level as far as I am concerned. I would love to be complaining about only being able to play 10 minutes at a time, because that would beat the pants off not being able to actually play AT ALL, and at least I COULD collect Delta Recruit Doff rewards and start new assignments.

Here is my weekend in a nutshell. Login, move maps, time out disconnected from server. Login, time out loading into same map before i get in, repeat steps again 1-20 times. Finally get into mission map play through it normally. Go to load out to sector space, time out disconnected from server.

I have seen more timed out server TRIBBLE in the last few days in this game then i have in the entire 20+ years of online gaming combined.

And NO it isnt my ISP or my connection. Its fuc*ing cognet. Throw in the fact that cryptic "fixed" boff abilities going to default when changing maps, which I didnt have an issue with before, but now after they "fixed" said issue.... every ground map I have to redo boffs... cause no loadout for them....

Frustration level is maxing out. What good is double exp if I cant stay logged in to do missions, I spend more time typing a password to log back in then playing the game.

Just had the Worst Lagged Fleet Alert ever. It would behoove Cryptic to finally get their stuff in order (And no, 'It's not us, it's Cogent" is not an excuse). The lag is rapidly making this game unplayable.

Less money to voice acting, more to better server hardware!

You know about the same time the patch dropped the FCC in the USA dropped about 600 pages of regulations on the large ISP's outlining how they were going to enforce neutrality and charge taxes for this service........

Widespread? Nope you are poorly mistaken.

I live in a small town (population 45),crappy net provider yet i have no lag issues nor my game is unstable, now maybe once a day or twice at the most i get disconnected,Whoopi doo dah!!!! Takes me like 10 seconds at the most to login, going to sue Cryptic over it hahahaha

If the game is as you say and i quote:

    * A grindfest and more of a job than a game
    * Not fun anymore (because of the above)

Why are you still here, just man up and leave,i like the game and im enjoying myself, the day that stops i will move on with no post in the forums to attract attention...that is what i did with WoW and every other mmo ive played, seems to me the game has grown stale for you and thats fine so just move on and let the rest of us who are still enjoying it play it in peace.

Totally agree. Alot of people seem to think they must have stuff handed to them for next to no effort in this game. This game is an RPG. RPG's ARE grindfests, just like a real life job, but without taking as much time. People have been spoilt with fast levelling and generous freebies, yet they still complain it's not enough!

I do however agree. The lag in STF's is becoming bothersome, especially CCA and FRA since Delta Rec. came in.

I must be playing Walking Dead STO then because I am in the game with a bunch of Fleetmates right now. :)
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

The lags for me are getting worse and worse. EU here. I can't play PvE queues anymore and lots of rubberbanding outside PvE. Some friends have the same problem. They really should look into this or release a statement about it cuz this is gamebreaking. I wonder if this is just an overseas problem?

Once more, I feel it's important to point out that if they stop putting out content to fix the issues, they will be losing out on money because nothing new will come out. This will mean that the people supporting this game no matter what will eventually complain there is nothing to spend money on and possibly spend their money elsewhere. Which will end up hurting the game even more.

Don't forget as a free-to-play game, this game doesn't solely survive on subscriptions any longer. They can't afford to stop making content because there's more money in putting out limited time ships and lock boxes than what subbing generates now.

They are trying to fix as many bugs as they see pop up. They aren't a large team like Blizzard that has the man power to fix bugs before they come up.

I've played STO when content was a dry desert. We are a looooong way away from those days. People are stopping alt play just to make an attempt to gear up one character and (imo mistakenly) trying to keep up with shinies. There is an abundance of content that could keep me playing for years with alts.

If I was spending money in those sparse content years and so many others were as well to help the game thrive until today, content cannot be the "reason" they don't fix things. Cryptic is on some maniacal, fast-paced course to add system after system, ship after ship in a gigantic push to get as much money as possible at the sacrifice of fun gameplay.

Lol what? The problem is not wide spread because YOU dont have it? Lol

So you count for thousands of others and whatever say are having you must have too? Maybe you have no clue about how servers/the internet and stuff works so pls keep your unfounded biased stupid opinion to yourself.

My whole sto-friendslist (about 15 ppl) is either complainibg about lag-issues or not playing any more cause those lag issues persist now for over 2-3 month.

Thing is, this has been an ongoing problem where the issue was introduced and the issue happens to get worse from time to time as things happen. Things happening which makes it worse shouldn't lead to the acceptance of the underlying issue being acceptable. If things were smooth and then the various events across their games were to cause issues that would be one thing...we don't have that. We have fubar and mo' fubar.

I have 3 fleetmates who filed complaints against Cryptic via the BBB and their issues were resolved favorably to them because of it.

LOLOL...Were these the "geniuses" that posted those complaints? From BBB site:

    Complaint #1:
    Complaint
Due to poor game design purchases made for in game currency were greatly devalued in 24 hours, leaving the consumer (me) with pennies on the dollar. I purchased 250 dollars of in game currency over the last week. During that time, the game economy was destroyed by poor game design on Cryptic studios part. It was exposed to several exploits that crippled the economy. So my previous purchase was now worthless. I requested a dispute through paypal and my account was immediately banned. So now I don't even have access my account the money was spent on.

    Desired Settlement
I am requesting that I receive a full refund of all purchases, I did not receive the product I paid for due to poor game design and exploits that followed because of it, and I no longer have any access to the account at all.

    Complaint #2:
    Complaint
The Star Trek Forum Community Manager has targeted me unfairly and abuses his moderation abilities to ban me! This is not the first time either.
Cryptic's Star Trek Online forum Community Representative, ******* (**********) goes out of his way to interpret anything he can twist anything I post on the forums in to something it wasn't intended to be. As a result, this results in him issuing me infractions or bans from the boards. I did submit a ticket to PWE support in regards to this matter and the replied that the ban stands. Apparently, my post was insulting, which it wasn't! I would add the post to the complaint but I don't have access to it. The only thing to be taken from what I had written is that I prefered the former community manager because he was fair and a valued memeber of the cummunity.

This has happened on more than one occasion and I am beyond fed up with this. I had one moderator specifically tell me outside of the community that ******* did not like me and that he has witnessed much more severe issues get purposely overlooked due to him interacting with these players in and outside of the SAtar Trek Online game.

    Desired Settlement
I would like this staff member to treat me like other members of the community instead of finding any little reason and or purposely interpreting what I post in a way that he feels he can ban me for. I would also like the ban listed and a written apology from ****** (******).

    Complaint #3:
    Complaint
Cryptic Studio's Star Trek Online Klingon Faction Defect For the entire time since the game was launched, an issue that prevents players from setting the autofire on their ships for the Klingon faction in Star Trek Online has been present. I contacted support to tell them, then politely asked for an update from the development team themselves, to which they refused to give me, telling me only what I already knew, they they were looking into it. I clarified saying I only wanted to hear an update from the development team to see how fixing the issue was going, as it's been three years. I got the exact same reply as before, telling me they knew about the problem and were looking into it. I highly doubt they've bothered, since it's been three years. I then told support if they couldn't be bothered to get an update from the development team, then I would take matters into my own hands. They told me still the exact same thing, "we're looking into it". I then told them I was contacting you, the Better Business Bureau, to file an official complaint, and I am doing so. I doubt it will do anything, but please if you can do something, do so.

    Desired Settlement
What I want is for them to FIX the issue. It's been in the game for three years. I find it hard to believe they;re looking into it. I want it FIXED. I asked support to give an update on how that was going only to get broadsided with a standard "we're looking into it" reply that tells you nothing.

LOL, the BBB is supposed to be there for serious complaints, like getting ripped off/scammed. You know, you buy a laptop for $500, and get sent a brick instead. Or you hire a contractor for $10K and he puts in crappy wiring and terrible pipes that leak. You know, stuff that matters.

It's nice to know that your 3 fleetmates burdened the BBB with their First World Problems.

I live in the Midwestern US and have played the game since beta. For the most part, I can play without major lag problems. Until I go to ESD or Crystalline Catastrophe queue. Then the rubberbanding starts. In Crystalline about half the time I get a situation that has me rubberbanding all over the place. I hit full stop and 45 seconds later my ship stops. Until then I watch my ship jerk around, sometimes moving more than 10km in position in one second. I can't fire because the game literally has no idea where I am. On ESD I take 5 steps forward, 2 steps back, about a third of the time. Most of the time I don't see this anywhere else. So something is happening, and it's relatively recent.

Just out of curiosity what video card are you using? ESD has a high vid memory usage, as does CE. What you might be experiencing is graphics lag rather then server lag in those specific areas.

I keep getting this message, it doesn't go any further.

I have uninstalled the game, reinstalled it.

    Updated all drivers.

The launcher updates, then when you see "ENGAGE" pop up I click. Goes to the Cryptic loading page, then it stalls. A few seconds later I click on the screen and this message pops up
    Gameclient.exe is not responding.

    Suggestions?

The first thing I would do is restart your computer, then turn off your Firewall and try it again. That way we can see if your Firewall is blocking access to the file.

If turning off the Firewall changes nothing then go directly to the gameclient.exe file and trying starting the game directly from there, bypassing ARC. That will let us see if there is a problem with ARC and STO.

I live in Eastern Canada and have almost no lag other than the very persistent Server Not Responding that happens almost every time I transfer to another map. The most annoying problem since the last patch (actually the one before the last one) s that 2 or 3 times a day I will get a game client crash.

It's a bit old now, but it was a high end card when it was bought, and still gives me fine framerates at the 1920x1080 resolution I play at. It isn't impossible that it is graphics related. I use the most recent omega drivers. I had the same problem though with the older drivers before the omega drivers came out. The card has good cooling and can be overclocked; perhaps I should try that next. It is a 2gb memory on the card if I remember correctly, but it is either 2gb or 4gb. I don't skimp on the memory on my video cards.

Assuming you are actually accessing the correct gameclient.exe under STO/Live and you click on that and nothing happens then there are only 2 options:

1: Your gameclient.exe is corrupted - which would seem odd as you stated you deleted and redownloaded the game.

2: Your gameclient.exe is not accessing the internet - which brings us back to your Firewall.

When you right-click and choose Open on the gameclient.exe it should immediately load a window that shows your username and password fill-ins so that you can login. That is the direct access which bypasses ARC.

I've been having massive problems with lag, rubberbanding, and these weird desyncronization issues where the server seems to send my client data, but doesn't recognize my client sending to it. It's really damned annoying, as I watch my ship get torn apart with no ability to respond.
