New Romulus Episode

draigondraigon Member Posts: 62 Arc User
So one thing I've found while playing my DR is that the new Romulus segment of the game needs an update. When it was first released, the New Romulus content was the end-game and so unlocking the story through the rep system was acceptable, but now the Solanae arc opens as soon as the rep system does. For veteren players, this isn't a big deal, but for new players, starting the Dyson Sphere missions without completing New Romulus will leave several holes in the story.

I propose unlinking the New Romulus Missions from the Rep System and turning them into a true Episode to take place between the Breen and Solanae arcs.

It would probably be enough to put the last rep mission where the gate on new romulus is dscovered right before sphere of influence. The rest isn't really that important since most stuff is just local banter on the planet itself and has no relevance to the overall story.

OR... Prevent people from accessing the "Sphere of influence" untill they've completed the Romulan rep.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Sure, creating even more walls and hoops to jump through just to play story missions will surely benefit the game.

Yea... It's a great idea, and along the way we also ensure that people get an understanding of the REp system.

You are actually serious, aren't you?

OP, even though I like the setup with reputation missions taking a while to unlock, you do have a point.

The whole line would work in the same style as the Nimbus III missions. Introduce players to the zone, sort of a guided tour mixed with story progression.

although the mission ques you cannot actually go to the dyason sphere so its not a drastic fault more an inconvenience, I am not sure at what point you can go to the sphere but I guessing its after you complete the Romulus rep and the feature mission with worf where you first visit the sphere.

it should be addressed so that the mission will not que at least until you have completed the afore mentioned feature mission for consistency but its hardly going to be a game breaker for new players.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    Of cause I am.

I am a strong advocate of making people spend zen and grinds.

My thought process was that even though most of the missions aren't directly linked to the overall story, by making them a full arc it would give the player more experience to build upon in getting to Delta. That xp grind was pretty brutal starting at lv 50. As of the end of Breen my DR is about 53 and by the time he gets to delta he'll probably be around 55. This will take a lot of edge off of that final stretch.

I actually agree that there needs to be some sort of tutorial for the rep system, but linking missions to it does not accomplish that as new players may just jump to the next arc without realizing that there even are missions linked. When spec points become available, a text clicky pops up to explain it. I think the same would suffice for the rep system.

I hit lvl 50 during the the Cardassian story arc (playing Elite mode) and it would have been very confusing if I was a new player. There were even references saying that I should have fought the Borg when I had not even fought them yet.

Well if works if you're playing fed... They encounter the Borg on day one...

Roms encounter them too at an early stage I think, though not so dominantly.
