As a long term player I've found the influx of new players this weekend very welcome and promising for the future of the game.
That being said the amount of times I've been asked in chat if the disconnects, rubberbanding and general server issues are just because theres alot of people or is it normal?
What can you say..... the truth is there has been a general rise in poor quality service not only in the server but also QA testing (work arrounds needed for new Delta toons in certain missions).
With the latest disconnects I'm wondering if this event has just put off more players than kept, nothing worse than trying a new game only to find the issues we all know are present, especial those that directly impact on new delta players.
A concerned player.......
Where ever you go, there you are.......
Join The Space Invaders,..... Federation and KDF fleets.
"Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it", and you still think we could lie to new players? We openly do since quite a while back.
Server issues with events aren't anything new for this game or for many games out there. Cryptic does have a bit of a too laissez-faire attitude, imho, though. Yeah, it's going to suck...deal with it...might get better. Have fun, all! /facepalm
QA which had been getting significantly better, imho, prior to S9.5 has taken a massive dip since S9.5, through Delta Rising, and on through where we are now. I mean, imho, it had significantly gotten better - things were brutal in the past, and even after they'd fix something, they'd reintroduce it because they never patched the various forks folks were working on - so those heinous things just kept coming back over and over...whether they were mechanics bugs or they were content bugs. How many times did they fix and break stealing that runabout over and over? But yeah, since S9.5 it's been heading back into the toilet...meh.

Let them decide for themselves, and offer help when asked.
As Veteran players we are the ones who can help a rookie learn the nuances of STO better than any tutorial.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

It's much worse at the start of special events like this, but the lag is an ongoing problem. Depending on your location it might or might not be bad enough to make you want to stop playing.
I'm in the Seattle area, and more often than not I don't have any issues except the UI lag in the powers tray. I've learned that it can't handle clicks or keypresses too close together, and that's just how it is.
It would be great if they improve it, and get better servers that can handle the peaks better, but I still enjoy the game enough to keep playing.

It's not like you can say, "oh yeah, they told us they know about the problem and want us to know they are taking corrective measures."
