I remember wanting some Klingon ship in the Z Store and being discouraged by how much Dilithium it would take to get it. At the time the exchange Rate was 350 Dilthium for 1 Zen.
Hasn't been anything like the iconic T6 ships in the Z Store in awhile. Since lots of people with lots of Dilithium want these, it makes sense Zen is currently more valuable than Dilthium. I am thinking it will level off at about 200:1 or so in about a week and stay right around that for awhile.
Bought Zen last week at 185:1 and sold them at 200:1. That was enjoyable.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Don't trade any dilithium. They are trading that high because people are buying Zen that high. Withhold it. It will drop when no one buys for these prices. It's up 50 points. Just say NO.
that just say no part.............I had Doc Brown voice in my head

I had some at 181 and sold at 220....set it at 220 for the hell of it, not really expecting it to sell...but it did.
If only I didn't spend 3k zen on a new cruiser a few weeks back, I wouldve made hell of a lot more. BUt then again, I don't really care all that much, I have enough dil to do what I need to do and I don't really want to spend any Z at the moment.
funniest part is; 2 years ago.
Co's exchange had just hit 200Q/zen and people were complaining till it was pointed out STO was at 350/zen.
Now CO has weekly sales, this week ;keys while on a dbl xp weekend and a new lockbox. exchange was at 490Q/zen this morning. Not game to look at it this afternoon
Damn, I converted some dil to Zen before the CC event, then flipped it back over when people started cashing out the event. I only made a few points though, I should've held onto it!
Dang, I should have dumped all my dil the instant I saw the Galaxy announcement when it was 190. But I didn't because even 190 seemed pretty damn high compared to just a few weeks ago when it was like 168. Lordy. What the hell happened to this game.
more dilithium sink incoming anyway. With the new story line, they'll have new Iconican rep gear which will probably cost 32k per item. So plenty of places to spend the bling
This is what's really surprising to me... I see dil sinks everywhere. Why in the world is that rate going up? I can't believe that pack is selling so well.
What you see are small sinks: Crafting, etc - and most people who are serious about Crafting have learned how to do it cheaply. Big sinks, like Fleets, sucked up millions. We have not had one of those in a long time.
And keep in mind we just came off of a CE Event which dumped 50k+ onto people - I know someone who did it on 15 characters. There is a lot of Dilithium in the system right now because of the Events - and now we have this new Recruit system which is given people even more.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.
Makes perfect sense. And in this case entirely predictable. I laid in zen back at 170-180 knowing that dili would be dropping in value after the CE event. Tens of thousands of people with alts suddenly getting tens of thousands of dili? Had to go somewhere...
And speaking of Fleets as Dil sinks, don't forget those Delta Recruits with their Fleet only Dil is going to be easing up that sink for Fleets still progressing - so even more Dil is going to be out there since they won't have to use their real Dil. Wheeeeee!
In just the last few hours the Dilithium Exchange has jumped from the low 200s to now as of typing this to the mid 230s and continues to rise.
Anyone else agree that this is a bit absurd ? I mean hell even with the dil per kill that the Delta Recruits have for the event, they don't get enough per kill to mess with the pricing like this, 1-2 dil per kill lolz.
Looks like I'll be holding on to my Dilithium for awhile .
WTF are ppl smoking to think these prices are justified ? o.O.
Let's make this easy. Go read Macroeconomics for Dummies, and then come back after you can answer your own question.

If you believe this artificial economic system isn't able to be influenced by the developers and isn't being influenced by the game comapany at will you are naive at best.

Well, obviously it's being influenced by the developers.
It's not rocket science. They just did a Crystalline Entity event, which pushes a glut of dilithium into the system. Greater supply of dil, same supply of zen, zen price rises. Then they release a three-pack of ships that people have been asking for for literally years, and put out incentives to make more toons, which for silver players (maybe golds, too) means buying character slots and sometimes species, meaning people want zen to pay for all these new goodies. Greater demand for zen, zen price rises.
Macroeconomics in action, ladies and germs.

I remember when it was in the 400's this is nothing. Of course it will prevent me from turning dilithium to zen for a while.
I miss those days. But then again I don't buy Zen with D, I buy D with Zen. So I'm ecstatic about the jump. 180 felt too low for me. Going to go home and drop 2k Zen on dilithium

It's influenced, just not in the way you're trying to suggest.

I think they're using Iconian Gateways.
Very good one :D:D

Support 90 degree arc limitation on BFaW! Save our ships from looking like flying disco balls of dumb!
