While it's weak on kinetic, it's strong on the AoE cloud (which is boosted by PGen). Now that I've said that, watch Cryptic nerf the TRIBBLE out of it.

I guess we both know why this is and know the "special" property of it, but i suspect as long as we keep our voices down no-one will look after it, so pssst :p

this is my exact build at present. I swap THY3 and Spread3 as needed.
the empty wep slot is the AP torp
using 3xtorp doffs and 3x technicians for aux2bat

Thx for the build this was a simple misunderstanding, i did not know you where talking about critical hits for the 45-60k and 100-200k numbers.

If you have a high PrtG build (400's), I'd recommend the Particle Emission Plasma Torpedo. Hands down, THE BEST utility torp in the game, and phenomenally powerful for high PGen builds. While it's weak on kinetic, it's strong on the AoE cloud (which is boosted by PGen).

Yeah I think ill start there, with PE torp. Will test it against the others suggested.
    Thanks for the info all.

    Hey there,

So this is the Mogh on which I tried to use the Crystalline Torpedo, replacing the photon in the linked build. I found it to be a bit lackluster. Reading this thread, I'm thinking if I want to make another go at this, instead of replacing the photon launcher, the Crystalline should run alongside it, to benefit from more frequent PWO procs.

    Is that a reasonable inference?

    Thanks,

Hmm, I think he's got an Omega torp; if he does I'll slot that in lieu of the photon and try that out. Thanks.

So you're saying fore, spots 1-3 are the DHCs, 4 is the Crystalline, and 5 the Omega? And aft, it's turrets 1 & 2, KCB 3? Ward, as long as you're being helpful, can you 20-words-or-less how that matters? In 2.5 years I've heard so many differing views on this that I'd kind of given up understanding it.

    Much appreciated.

Okay, thanks very much. I probably have some rejiggering of weapon layouts to do on, umm, every single ship I own. (rolls up sleeves) :)

Your firing cycle starts from the left and moves right across your weapons.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this only the default? My understanding was that the order in which weapons were autofired was the order in which you right-clicked on them in the weapon tray to make them autofire.

That has been broken for a while now. It used to work but the devs don't seem to be aware its broken.

As far as I know, it's based on the order in which they're added to the ship. Not the slot I mean, but the actual time at which you equip them. When using loadouts, that automatically becomes left-to-right because of the way the items get equipped by the game. Which is also why already equipped weapons sometimes fail to equip in another slot, but that's a different matter.

Torpedo boat captain here. Thank you for providing your feedback on this torpedo. I find your test on HY vs TS on Neutronic intriguing too. I was actually surprised that the average damage per hit was higher on an AoE attack than a single target. I guess HY isn't that useful?

    Thanks!

The AP damage you can easily get from AP boosting tact consoles, also from the Obelisk set 2pc bonus (warbirds cannot use the core for this set). As for raw +Energy damage, there isn’t a lot of that. It can mostly be found on set bonuses. Generally though anything that boosts Energy Damage will boost the damage of the AP Torp. Skills will boost the damage of the AP torp more than AP consoles.

Sadly, 'boost' is a relative term here. Basically the Crystalline torp came pre-nerfed, as it were, and is only brought to normal levels by adding 5x AP Tact consoles. While it benefits from EPtW and such, there are no consoles left to boost it above where other torps start of.

I still love this torp, though. :)

Thx for the good research. :)

Your link to Marshall's guide doesn't work for me, though.
