The torpedo's visual is nice, but the weapon itself is rather underwhelming. It needs more damage, or a lower CD, or an [Arc] or [Wide Arc] mod even if it's only at UR or Epic.
Upgrading rarity gets Acc at VR and another CrtH at UR, and the standard Epic mod at Epic.
TS is a beautiful rain of red, but HY is just a volley of powered up shots much like HY photons.
Haven't tested to see if it works with Nadeon Detonator.
Still rather disappointing for 14 days worth of grinding, compared to the Cochrane Shotgun.
They really dropped the ball by not giving it a [arc] upgrade it would have at least made it worth using then.

This is typical Cryptic... the first data numbers we got would have made this thing god-like. People complained... rightfully... and a couple days later Cryptic changed it... to practical worthlessness...
This is what happens when Devs don't fully understand the game and rely strickly on "metrics" and the "cool factor".
well fudge caje i was only playing the evey because i thought it was supposed to be a wde arc torp darned pvpers whining got it nerfed before it eveeeeen dropped

It was never... ever... wide arc... ever...
The issue was more in the fact that you could stack a number of AP consoles and make it too effective...
The issue was more in the fact that you could stack a number of AP consoles and make it too effective...
It was listed as [Wide Arc] once upon a time, in a [Redacted] thread far, far away.
Regardless, its DPS is utter TRIBBLE relative to a regular DBB or DHC, and is really only pretty to look at or if you just wanted to test it on a ship that already uses AP and a torp. Even then, it won't be replacing that Neutronic, Gravimetric, or Particle Emission torp someone has.
It really would only be useful if they do give it an [Arc] or [Wide Arc] mod to let it be usable as a broadside torpedo, where it would at least be a possible spike alternative for one Beam Array. It's damage is already pathetically low enough even with 5 AP+ Spire consoles, and definitely not worth the upgrade beyond Rare XIV at all (for the record, I did upgrade it to XIV UR before testing it).
Or lower the CD back to the original intention, so that its low damage is offset by its firing rate. Heck, make it faster even, so that it can at least be worthy of the 14 day grind we spent for it (I didn't need the marks or Dil, but I was hoping the reward would be as useful as the Shotgun was).
NOt yet - late starter - I only have 8, 9 by tonight.
I run a polaron build... is it even worth getting this particular torp or holding off until next year's event?
Personally, not worth it.
However, you might want to consider getting it regardless, in the event you switch or use an AP build on the side, or just want it since Cryptic hasn't allowed re-runs of previous event equipment as far as CC and Mirror event rewards go.
Also, for anyone that cares, it does work with Nadeon Detonator.

I didn't do it for the torp... I did it for the dilithium to be honest... the torp was just a bonus.
For a polaron build.. I'm going to say no it's not worth it since you'll still have to split your tac consoles between polaron and AP... so you're falling into the trap of don't rainbow boat it.
I can kind of see it being used on a AP build though... it'll drop your DPS but with the hope that maybe Cryptic will stop the cycle of over-buff/over-nerf and actually get something balanced properly for once when it's inevitably buffed because metrics shows no one is using it.

Hmmm... I can craft an AP set easily enough.... consoles are easy to come by/build as well... been thinking about it for a while and really just needed an excuse...

I've heard... haven't tested since I don't generally use AP... but heard that on the high end AP builds it lowers your DPS (since you're not using all beams and FAW and BO which are the queens of STO now). It also doesn't have the splash that the better rep torps have, and that because it's not effected by weapon energy it's damage potential is kind of flat.
But I'm not an expert haven't used it really other then to say "ooo pretty doesn't work for me though" so I may just be talking out of my you know what.

Would be interesting to find out... my Rom muses a corrodive plasma build on her Scim... boosted to rediculous proportons... my Main used, as I said, polaron... it's not bad; she's not build for dps but she can survive just about ANYTHING that's thrown at her...
I'm running it on a 5/fore 2/aft AP build right now. The only reason I use the ship is for an AP build, since it uses a warp core. Figured I'd slap it in there.
It's pretty fun with TS, and I don't have any real complaints. I'm still hoping it gets a bit of a buff, though. Upgraded it to MK XIV Very Rare and it isn't much above an MK XII Neutronic Very Rare. Using energy consoles is a big plus, so maybe it's a wash. I dunno. Too tired to do math right now.
Got it on all my 8 toons yesterday. Its in unopened boxes which will be transferred to bank the next time my doffing cycle permits that.
I intend to make a cost efficient Delta Recruit with a lot of self crafted stuff and mission rewards as gear. Since its build will be AP based I would have set the torpedo up as gimmick. But its too late for it I guess.
My other toons remain well off without using it.

I think the AP torp even in the box is Bound to Character... I think.
I'm at 13/14 and will be picking up mine tonight when I get home.
Got it, opened it, used it, was highly disappointed.
I'm running 3 +Antiproton damage tac consoles, I'm built for anti-proton...but at the end of the day its still a Torpedo and is therefore slow and awful unless you spend a lot of skills and points making it decent.
I'm not as experienced as some, but I find it hard to care about Torpedoes at all after this, like, ever again.

Yea Im afraid it is so no hope fore the new toon since the delta recruitment will start when cc is over.
Well I can understand that cryptic has a hard time on the 14 day events to grand discounts for secondary toons because of the Dil reward. However it would be cool if the special stuff, even those unlocked on your account from previous events, could simply be claimed in the dil stor. In some case Id even been even willing to pay for that.
Delta Recurits will have to do without the torpedo and sadly the Zefram shotgun from last mirror event.

considering the torp has only just got into player hands recently, i wouldnt be surprised if the devs are tweaking the torpedo values a bit to make it more useful once again. keep a hold of it for a while, see whats what.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Its not a torpedo to pad your parser numbers ....for parser padding its not a great torpedo
It is good for taking out the shields of the enemy ! Its designed to help take the shields out
what weapon on your ship does 8k plus damage to a enemys shields?
probably none right lol
and it saves you 9 power
and it costs you like nothing in your all energy build in skills or consoles
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse
I would have liked to add the Torp to my mains collection, seeing as I like to run a Romulan cloak/Torp boat sometimes.
Alas I had an event open and half done from a couple years ago. so I get that finished, & now I have a DOFF that greatly enhances my Tyken's Rifts!
But No Torp for me, this event go around. My alts all get one though. yay for them. It's got a rather slow recharge though. Maybe if it was 8 seconds it'd be of more use to me.
Shave 4, or 5 seconds off it's downtime, & I'd find a use for it. otherwise I'll stick with Romulan Plasma spam.
Finally decided to make a sig.
I see allot of them with a character, and ship.
though I'm not sure which ship to put on there...
I'll think about it. This will do for now.

just got it, the unboosted stat is smidgen less than the netronic. TS3, it says something along the line of 3k x4....so 12k damage.....but then, I seem to shoot more than 4 on TS3 anyway...
Still undecided whether it's stronger than the Neutronics or not. Doesn't have that BAM feel of the neutronic....I'll do more testing.
It is a lovely shade of red though.....and I have another torpedo to add to my collection.

if it dont fire as fast as a photon, that means nothing as your target and regen shields faster then you can remove em. i have a beam boat that strips shields very quickly and pumps in mega damage, your giving up the ability to damage a ship on full ability just to damage shields instead. i would not make that deal unless beam weapons are useless against shields, then everyone has to consider the torpedo the bees knees.
i am going to stop there, i dont not want to give these devs "good" ideas for the future :P.

Neutronic fires 3 on TS3 @ about 8500 + 1700radiation, 20% crit damage
Antiproton 6700 x 4 no extra other damage but, 40% crit damage
i dont' know how they calculate the radiation damage if that gets multiplied by 3 or not, I would assume so. So 30k damage of Neutronic vs 27k damage of antiproton.
Also tried out the HIgh Yield
Neutronic 9500 +1500 x4 44k
antiproton 8500 x4 34k
overall, I still like the feel of the Neutronic.....I guess that will stay on the avenger and the antiproton will serve it's time on the guardian cruiser. Seems a waste not to try it out at least for a little while

50,000 Dilithium for the turn in, plus 2000 more for every shard past that for at least another 7 days or so.
Thats 64,000 Dilithium for nearly no work. Still worth turning in, just not for the Torpedo.
