This is PWE's reward for choosing the short term money grab pay2win model.
Nothing more to be said
Game's gonna die sooner rather than later.
I am not so sure it is the "reward" for all of the rank and file, not all of whom actually had a say in those decisions. :-/

Bunch of people laid off, Delta Recruiting coming up, I'm going to assume that the Delta Pack and/or lifetime subscriptions will be on sale for this, and all happening roughly around the time for quarterly reports.
Maybe I'm totally off base, have no idea here, but it's a thought.
I am truly saddened by this. =-( Have there been any official statements? They should have listened to their customers =-(
This tech bubble burst has nothing to do with pleasing customers and has 100% to do with investor faith receding in the market.
I know we like to pretend PWE revolves around STO, but STO is insignifigant in the grand scheme of things. Tech companies all across the globe are experiencing the exact same issues PWE currently is.
That's not a coincidence. Correlation does not equal causation.

I didn't even think of that! I was just so shocked to see them go, I mean Smirk was doing a live stream what? the day before? =-(

Sometimes that is how it is. Come in on a Friday to get Issue 24 from the test server to the live servers and BAM. Whole dev team gets laid off. I am still suffering the effects of that day even though it happened about 2.5 years ago.

It's prevalent throughout the industry right now. As I mentioned, looking at the big picture kind of highlights this is not an isolated incident.
I'm not saying that Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it. I'm not saying that Captain Smirk was without faults, I'm not saying that everything is sunshine and rainbows at Cryptic and everything is awesome.
I am saying that paying attention to the dates in that article is important, because it shows a trend.

Wait... where did you read that? Tell me your source.
I thought in the great galactic war between the Iconians and the T'Kon, that the Iconians were pawns of the Tribbles and the T'Kon were pawns of the Epohhs...?

Yep - and the other thing people saying "OMG - Cryptic (and STO) is loosing money..."; actually, no, STO still did (and still is) making an actual profit - the issue is (and this is how corporate/stock market financials work) - it DIDN'T make the amount of profit that was EXPECTED <--- And when that happens stock prices usually fall, investor/stockholder dividends are less then expected too; and if you're a corporation, you CAN show the difference between the profit you actually did make and the profit the market expected, and show that as a 'loss'. But in actual numbers, the game itself is still a money making entity; and neither PWI, PWE or Cryptic are anywhere near actual bankruptcy atm.

Reminds me of the old game Starflight. You run around the galaxy trying to save it, following clues of an ancient race, and at the end, you discover that said ancient race is behind it, as they are basically rocks that everyone uses for fuel...

Suspicious Romulan knows the true intention of the darkest enemy: Epohhs.
Epohhs are just Tribbles that refuse to hide their feet. It's a religious schism amongst the furballs, playing out on the stage of galactic politics! Wake up, sheeple!! READ THE SIGNS! READ THE BOOKS!! SOYLENT GREEN IS REALLY KRILL CRACKERS!!!! <is dragged away by men in dark suits>
I think I may have mixed up some posts while being hungry.

Hey, whoa! Do not disturb the sheeple from their rest. Then we'll have real problems.
The next one is the sort of thing I usually think of when they talk about doom on the forum.
Doom is an understatement I bet most of us who are on the forums in contrast between forum and the game spend more time in the forums.
For me its like 5 mins on website and what I'll do now is just look at their wallpaper of ships because thats about as much worth I see in the game right now lol. Just watch those will cost money to download now that i've said that rofl.

Those of us who recognize this isn't a series of isolated incidents know what the cause of PWE's layoffs are.

We need Steve Martin to play another dentist (like the one in "Little Shop of Horrors").
Also: I am not a chronic balloon-thrower ... except at the Klingon Academy, where a lack of seriousness seems to be needed from time to time.
